  1. I think Brunei is actually Southeast Asia. I know this because I was in the Philippines once riding on a highway with my cousin through a mountain pass and there is a building on top of a mountain there. My cousin pointed to it and told me that is the sultan of Brunei’s vacation home. Maybe climb to the top of the mountain and ask them if the Game Gear is there
  2. My wife designed a product once. Basically when you design something, the business model is to sell as much of it as you can, as fast as you can. Because eventually, people will copy it. You can’t do anything to stop it from happening
  3. /imagine fire purses, cartoon style
  4. How can you confuse shooters with firpershes?
  5. I think of greatest hits as a version. On PS2 especially since they add significant new content to some greatest hits versions
  6. You could even argue they’re both different games but still not require SE because isn’t part of the full set since it’s not a retail release
  7. @Code MonkeyI think the question you meant to ask is: At what point do changes in a game make it a new game?
  8. I think a distinction needs to be made between a variant and a version. I think a variant happens when they want to make more quantity of the same game and there happens to be some subtle unannounced difference that some people detect only after careful study. Such as the little codes on chips and rev codes on labels/manuals/boxes Things like regional variations are probably more appropriately called versions. Like English version, Japanese version, etc. Also Greatest Hits is probably also a version. Because if you look at the packaging it is deliberately different, sometimes artwork is totally changed and even new features are often advertised
  9. I actually met the guy who developed it and bought a signed copy of the PS4 version from him. He never mentioned anything about a vita version to me He also made Super Gunworld 2
  10. I think of shrimp as more like deer. Roaming beasts of the wild. Cockroaches are an infestation. Like rats with herpes
  11. This is totally plausible. I have worked in half a dozen manufacturing environments and this type of thing is done all the time. My initials and my colleagues initials are on tons of equipment that has made its way all over the world. Using employee initials as part of a code system is used all over the manufacturing world for tracking purposes.
  12. At the end of the day, people wanting the definition for “the set” to be this or that just comes down to how difficult/easy that makes it for them to pursue the set so that they can feel accomplished in having completed it. What if it doesn’t really matter whether you have the full set or not? If I was gonna write a book about PS4 or Vita games, I would include every single game that was ever made for the US market.. yes even the ones that we only ever found 5 copies of. If it’s worth being mentioned in the book, then to me its part of the set. Full set collecting is a thing of the past, but people don’t want to accept this reality. So instead of accepting it, they want to change the definition.
  13. I think if it’s ESRB rated, then it’s part of the North American set. You may not like it, and nobody is making you collect it, but it’s still part of the set
  14. Harmony of Despair is more like a multiplayer giant boss killing mission than a Metroidvania
  15. Wow they were doing the whole limited run thing even back in the day huh
  16. The first time I remember hearing the term Metroidvania was on a Castlevania fansite as early as 2005-2006. This was before you could even find many game review videos with a voiced over narrative in the format that we are used to today, so it definitely hadn’t gone viral (at least to the extent it is today). I want to say the site was Castlevania headquarters, although I just perused over there on the Symphony of the Night page and the term “Metroidvania” in quotes is not there (maybe they removed it?) I don’t think Castlevania SOTN was pumped up by Sony fanboys. I didn’t even own a PSX at that time, but we borrowed our neighbors for about a month just to be able to play SOTN. I didn’t compare it to Super Metroid in terms of better/worse… to me it was just the next game in the Super Metroid style of gameplay that I had been waiting for, but wasn’t getting from Nintendo
  17. I would have enjoyed this game more but I can’t stand the soundtrack
  18. If you type Shmup it autocorrects to shoo trump. So that must be what it is
