Not a lot of games that you can play on this thing with limited left hand movement, sadly. Late 2024 I will have a bionic hand and I will be able to play games with an arcade and I kinda want to beat some games for these threads just to feel that I can still do it.
I will figure out how I can help with the N64 in 2024.- 3

The yearly reset is nice, but I feel that the usual suspects always go for the their usual games at the start of the year, clearing the famous games and never straying into strange waters. There needs to be something to incentivize these people to try new things.
That pattern also hurts new members participation because the famous games everyone plays are gone within hours or days of the thread being posted and they don't get the chance to beat a game they know well and feel part of the whole process because it was cleared right away. And they won't try the unusual games, usually.
I know I was guilty of often beating my favourites right after the bells of midnight, not letting people experience GnG, Ikari Warriors, Punch Out and others.
Would be nice to have something to incentivize or force the usual people into doing games other than their usual suspects.

Just to add background on NA the SNES thread was reset annually, but was pretty lackluster on clears most years. Other than the two years @BeaIankwent wild.
The good ol' days when I still could play them vidja games.
These beat every game threads are tough to complete, specially these days with less participants. Not even the NES one is seeing completion. -

I cant stress this enough and have already many times.
AMERICAN GLADIATORS!!!
I was going with that for the Finals, but I couldn't find a good ruleset to make it work.

Since they all finished last in Gold Medal Challenge Challenge 92, I summed the points for last 5 spots, divided it by 5 and rounded down. So every one of them was awarded 2 points at Gold Medal Challenge.

Final standings posted. With this result, @BlackVega is our 2023 VGS NES WEEKLY CONTEST TOURNAMENT CHAMPION!
@Dr. Morbis brings home the 2nd place.
And @PII finishes 3rd.
Congratulations for our top 3!We will be back in 2024 for more weekly contest action!
* Note to self: never use Gold Metal Challenge 92 ever again. No one plays that.

I tried to get clarification for this but either way my 500k submission is still going to be accepted instead right?
Yes, your second score will be accepted.

I will post the final standings this weekend, but your rolled score won't be considered @BlackVega since you didn't get a pre score roll picture. Those are always mandatory when score rolling happens.

Wow. What's the story with your hand? I hope everything goes alright.
Kienbocks + completely fucked up nervous system which made surgery for kienbocks not an option.
At the end of the day, you will have to play and bluff your way into success with the cards you were dealt with.- 2

I'm not sure if I should feel sad or relieved about it, the idea of replacing a natural hand for a bionic one seem absolutely uncomfortable, but I know at the same time you're doing it for your own good, so I wish you the best with that my dear Bea!
Shit happens, so you have to deal with it. It will be all good. At this point, the bionic hand will be able to do more than my normal hand. And thanks!

My God, is this true, you're going the cyborg hand route?
Yep. Even updated my avatar to better represent that since I already shopped around and paid for the prosthetic hand so I just have to claim it and fit the stump weeks after surgery. Made peace with that long ago.

Speaking of astronomical scores whatever happened to @Tablew/chairs
Moved on with life, most likely. He was insanely good. One of the very best to ever honour this contest we do for fun with his presence.
I hope he is well and still effortlessly crushing games.
Anyway, while life batters me away, work is being super busy due to holidays season, left hand pretty much gave up and will be replaced with a bionic one late 2024, I still managed to get this done:- 5

Rolling Thunder - Da Boyds - 17,900
Gold Medal Challenge:
100K - 7.77
Javelin - 107M68
Triple Jump - 20M01
Weight Lifting - 260KG
In the interest of Fair Play / Full Disclosure and so on I'd like to point out that I Modified a Jig-Saw and used it to press the A/B buttons for the Gold Medal Challenge Events. I didn't see anything in the rules against playing smarter in this fashion so I figured why not go for it. But of course I will concur with whatever ruling our two Benefactors feel is appropriate.......
While this was very cleaver to spare hand fatigue, your scores won't be accepted. You can still redo them playing normally without a physical apparatus to help you,

Beat it TWICE, since there is story 1 and story 2.
It is super fun.
And no one seems to be very sporty this week. Not a single score for Capcom's Gold Medal Challenge '92 posted so far.

People surely are holding on their scores...

My guess is you had a hard time choosing between this or deathless first level of Ikari Warriors.
I wanted Adventure Island 7-1 to 8-4 pacifist, but there was no way to start at later stages.

@BeaIank Just when I started trusting you, you give us Rolling Thunder.
Of course. I had to pick something at least slightly challenging that is also an unanimously acclaimed game for the grand final!
What game better than Rolling Thunder?

Final standings posted. We go into the final round with 20 points left on the table and a fierce battle between 1st, 2nd and 3rd place.
This will be exciting!

I will post the final results tonight.
I hope y'all had fun with these two games. Commando pacifist looks super interesting to do!- 1

Namco or Tengen are both acceptable as there are no changes between them other than an extra sound chip.
And it is progress then highest score.

This the one I have paid for so it will be a matter of fitting the silicone on the arm to my stump when I cut the useless biologic hand off.
I wanted an esper hand, but those were much more difficult to secure with the Ukranian war ongoing.
