Welcome, welcome. Who is ready to RUMBLE???
We enter phase "Shooter" of the 2024 VGS NES Weekly contest round1. And for this week, we bring in BURAI FIGHTER for our skilled players to prove their ability in shoot'em ups!
The rules for this week are:
- Enter the password "KING"
- Play till you beat the game or die the first time
- Take your picture at the ending or pause the game as you die the first time to take it
- Point pressing isn't allowed
- Highest score wins
- GENRE: Shooter
Good luck, fighter. The fate of the universe is in your hands
The contest ends Sunday, 04/14/24 at 11 PM VGS time. Your user name MUST be written or typed on a piece of paper and be in the picture for your score to be valid. The entire TV screen, or computer monitor if you are playing on an emulator, MUST be in the picture for the score to be valid. No partial screenshots will be considered or accepted. No screenshots by hitting "print screen" on a computer will be allowed. You must take a picture of your computer monitor. There may be instances where this will be acceptable, but it will be at the discretion of myself and the contest organizers. Also, the use of turbo controllers is forbidden, as well as any cheat codes, Game Genies, slow motion functions, or save states if playing on an emulator. Also, we will only be using NTSC systems for the contests. The use of PAL systems will NOT be allowed. Good luck everyone and have fun.

Well, turns out those were the final standings!

I think that having to take 4 pictures actually drove people away from this, but SMB3 will be back and we will run these rules again.
They seem to have worked pretty great.- 1

sweet, one of my favorites. I don't usually have time for contests anymore but I'm definitely in on this!
BTW, no reason I can't use 3DS virtual console version, right?
The 3DS virtual console is perfectly fine for this.

I don't think so. I will try to review them tomorrow and post the final standings.

We need to keep things fresh, so new ways to play classic games need to be found for the contest.
And I am very aware that we don't have the same free time we used to have 10, 15 years ago to play in the contest, so whenever possible, I am trying to keep things fast.- 2

Do you mean take your picture at the start of phase 20?
Fixed it. Yes. Start of phase 20.

Yes. Bert dominated the Balloon Trip mode, but in the main mode it was really close in the 2019 tournament.
This game is a lot of fun.

Why does Murray have to take all these pictures Can we get a rule change?
It is all I could come up with that wouldn't revolve around turtle hopping and squishing goombas over and over and over again.
You can record the gameplay instead if you prefer!
