NBC News discovers Chinese bootleg gaming consoles/famiclones, and it's hilarious!

I'm surprised some of the "badderhacks" is what made the news clip. I'm guessing the bootleggers just dump whatever on there without checking so that's how this even happened, lol.

"An electronics dealer" - Shows random street side tables filled with bootleg merchandise.

The poor dude's wife shaming him on national TV, cause he tried to save some money online. Oh man, hahaha!

Hahahaha.... Personally I want to smash every one of these when I see them in the store.

They had some at Giant Tiger around here.

People are so fucking DUMB. "Super Classic Game - Entertainment System."??? You're going to buy that for your kid?  😱

I'm angered that they are able to be sold, but I'm not shocked there's a bunch of stupid shit on them.

Agreed, it just gives the old stuff of good quality a bad name.

Yeah.... like, WTF is large retailer like Giant Tiger doing selling these OBVIOUS ripoffs??? 🤬

Like... there is NO QUESTION, that these are not licensed.... Luigi and Mega Man just chillin' there. 🙄

I took a pic....

Grandparents tend to be the most susceptible to this. "Oh, Billy wants a video game box and here's one right now for $40." They wouldn't know a Switch from a hole in the ground. They just hear some selective key words and it gets jumbled up in the brain with Matlock and bingo at the senior center and results in big sad for Billy on Christmas day. 😛

Seriously, we'd like to think that people are hip to what game consoles are out there, but a lot of people still don't have a clue.

I mean, no doubt about that. It's sad, but these companies are definitely preying on people's ignorance.

Seniors aside, the Mom in the video was our age?, what I mean is I'm shocked people can't distinguish what a KNOCKOFF item is.

Like.... WHATEVER type of product it is... it's pretty easy to tell when something is a knock-off/cheap replica. If I'm looking at speakers, or sneakers, or sports apparel... it's ALWAYS apparent when it's fake.

I imagine it's the same for fashion and clothing.

People, though, in general are stupid. So... they will undoubtedly buy one of those and go "huuurrr, look man, it's a Volcano Murio system! Just like when we were kids!"

I just wish they weren't so dumb. If people weren't as dumb, those things likely would not be on the shelf.

So maybe it's just society I'm upset with. 🤔

How about a purse? Designer jeans?

YES!

This is exactly what I mean.

I'm no expert.... but it's not THAT difficult to tell if something is fake. If I'm at Giant Tiger, and see a Joe Louis Vuttons purse.... I bet I'd be able to tell it's fake.

I see knockoff purses all the time in stores in Montreal. They're very easy to pick out, just like most other counterfeit stuff.

Now... of course there's counterfeits that are hard to tell and sold in much different locations, but that's not what we're talking about.

We're talking about mass marketed items found in large chains. It's easy to tell when that stuff is fake.

LOL - Youtube recommended this same video to me a few weeks ago.  In a way, I am glad to see this.  It means that the consumer has access to weird sh!+ in a way we've never had before.  Used to be that bootleg electronics were relegated to some strange market in a 3rd world country that your uncle visited.  Now you can just log in and order the stuff yourself.

But of course, the drawback is that some folks will genuinely be fooled.  Means there is a market for "content verified" bootlegs - just watch, someone will do it.

People are getting ridiculous, Black Man 2 is not racist. When Donkey Kong was made, there was a man that jumped so he was called Jumpman. If you modify a sprite to a black sprite, it's very simple to just call the character Black Man, it seems self explanatory.

And the shots of Ronald McDonald and his Magic Bag isn't even a hack, it's just the original game called M.C. Kids on the NES. All of that content is in there and appears to have been copied without changes.

I was expecting to see Custer's Revenge or Beat 'Em And Eat 'Em or something.

Except that slash 18 sign that might be suggesting Ronald is sporting a "Big Mac."

I also don't remember the kids being buck naked, but maybe I missed that part. 😛

We need to get you one of these. Then you'll see what you are ignoring. 😅

I mean, for example, seeing a blurred image could even make Square's Tom Sawyer not be considered racist. Just like the same could be said about Custer's Revenge not looking sexualized because the scenes were blurred out.

Plus, I should point out that the Ronald McDonald game did show the playable character to be naked. So I guess that is not child pornography simply because they blurred that out. 🙃

I didn't notice anything slash 18. Were the naked kids from M.C. Kids? I thought that was a cut to a different game. I just noticed them being upset with that particular Magic Bag screen but that's in the game. At least the bag part, I didn't look beyond that.

I don't understand any of this. Is Tom Sawyer racist? How? Was Tom Sawyer in this video? Where? Where were Custer's Revenge scenes blurred out? I didn't see that. Were the playable characters in M.C. Kids in this video naked and blurred out? I didn't see those, I only saw Jungle Book.

The sign over Ronald's crotch. It's obvious the news put that over to conceal the dick hacked into the game. The bag was also blurred out as it's probably something else vulgar.

The overall tent scene was in the original game, but they hacked it to make the kids naked. Hearts were added by the news show.

This is what the original game showed:

You really need to re-watch the video. 😅

And I say that because I was using both Square's Tom Sawyer and Custer's Revenge as counterpoints to your claims. With those who either know, or even look up, the former know that the depictions of the black characters (both on package and in game) are racist. Even by NES/Famicom era standards. Which is why it was not ported outside Japan.

With my point being that games are not sexualized or racist if you are not paying attention. Especially when the video has that content blurred out for those reasons. 😅

Where on the Adventures Of Tom Sawyer packaging is there black characters? And why did you mention it wasn't ported outside Japan when it was released here?

He's referring to the COVER for Tom Sawyer which was released in Japan for the Famicom; you might consider doing a search online next time:
