  1. This one is an oddity - the Gene Pitney song "The Man Who Shot Liberty Valance" is (rightfully) identified with the classic western of the same name although it was not in the film. It was written for the film but due to miscommunication didn't get recorded in time - in any event it could only have been used in the closing credits since it revealed the ending of the movie. The song was released about a week after the film was and rode to the number 4 slot on Billboard's Top 100.
  2. Quite likely before your time - but it charted fairly well IIRC. Although initially classed as disco it was actually one of the progenitors of Hi-NRG. I suspect just about anyone of my generation would instantly recognize it from even a few seconds even if they had not seen the movie. The movie was generally well received and did well at the box office.
  3. I am about 2/3 through Dragonbones (the latest Shadowrun novel) - a good spin on the traditional set up in these books.
  4. I do have one of these pog slammers stashed away somewhere.
  5. WTF (on more than one level). https://news.yahoo.com/snapchat-scam-turns-deadly-bartlesville-183822960.html
  6. Heh - I related previously my encounter with one of those jacklegs. It was the first tax year after Mrs. Tabonga died and I just didn't want to deal with it. I went to Walmart for regular shopping and talked with one of them - I described what I had to deal with - actually very simple - qualifying widower's filing with 3 pensions, social security and a very small amount of savings account interest. He wouldn't give me an estimate and insisted on doing them first and then charging me. WTF WTF*. I refused to agree to such a poor way of doing things - I did ask him as I left if he would buy a used car at a car lot by picking it out and then finding out out how much it was after agreeing to buy it. He had no reply. That year, like always, I wound up doing it myself. *Demonstrative way of saying double WTF!
  7. Like last year I will owe the Feds about one k - which will be offset (plus a bit) from my state refund. When Mrs. Tabonga passed I got the "benefit" of the IRS's treatment of single taxpayers. I haven't adjusted my withholding because I would rather have them wait for their ill gotten gains rather than my waiting for an obscene amount of time to get some back.
  8. A film about it just wouldn't work - "The Billy Goats Gruff Gang" just doesn't have the same impact as "The Doberman Gang". '
  9. In medieval Europe it was not uncommon for animals to be put on trial for various "crimes" - they were usually given a lawyer to represent them!
  10. Maybe they didn't grill the suspect sufficiently.... https://news.yahoo.com/indian-police-clear-suspected-chinese-113218143.html
  11. The only one I clearly remember (it was a long time ago) was his trashing Dark Wizard since it was one of the few rpgs on the Sega CD besides Lunar SS. Especially odd since they are really really disparate games.
  12. i was particularly annoyed when he would dis games that could be seen as competition to WD titles.
  13. Here is something I would get since I like jigsaw puzzles.- except my cat Loki would help by batting pieces to the floor so my dog Jack could eat them. They are team players! https://www.amazon.com/1000-Piece-Interactive-Educational-Activities-Building/dp/B09NNGG1CN/ref=asc_df_B09NNGG1CN/?tag=hyprod-20&linkCode=df0&hvadid=642193414769&hvpos=&hvnetw=g&hvrand=5822092204663805003&hvpone=&hvptwo=&hvqmt=&hvdev=c&hvdvcmdl=&hvlocint=&hvlocphy=9028780&hvtargid=pla-1949807592210&psc=1&mcid=7e4ea1c215e03cb29bb649d9046c9357
  14. You can make some simple ones by using glass blocks for supports and white pine painted with a high gloss paint - blue like the sega cd cases would look nice. So size is up to you. (You may have to cut some spacers painted to match (or maybe a complementary color - they look better if you cut them so the smooth side is to the front) to put under the blocks since most glass blocks are 8" on the long side which is just shy of what you need.)
  15. Working Designs was always closed mouthed about their production numbers. Unless I missed it they never even released how many of each variant was released (I went through an exchange of messages with someone there where they refused to give me numbers, dates of the runs or even rough ratios. And they wouldn't tell me why it was a state secret. Good products but miserable public relations.) y
  16. I just started watching this series about war production in the various countries in WW2. If one's mind runs to such things it is very interesting.
  17. The force is not strong with this one. https://www.kens5.com/article/news/local/police-working-to-identify-suspect-who-stole-city-owned-security-camera-del-rio-texas-thief-officers/273-cd5b3845-3159-4b58-bfc4-1374a186c1fb
  18. One of my brothers turned me on to this to use with my chromebook. https://www.walmart.com/cp/onn/3004279 it apparently can do a lot of stuff but for now i am happy with being able to wirelessly transmit what is on the chromebook screen to the tv. - and to do it pretty cheaply.
  19. I am currently playing the PS1 version of Brigandine. I am playing as Leonia and am trying something different. I am currently running a day camp wherein I am turning little pixies into little fairies (which are surprising useful as auxiliary units).
  20. Doesn't everyone keep these in their freezer? https://news.yahoo.com/human-head-hands-found-colorado-164519574.html
