  1. 2/10. Never really understood why this became popular.
  2. I used to love the ninja as a kid but I could barely make my way through that game, it was insanely hard. I haven’t played it as an adult but let me know how difficult it is.
  3. Never seen it and never will. Couldn’t imagine myself enjoying a movie about Barbie and Mattel HQ trying to create one big advertisement to drive sales of their toys. I liked Lady Bird though. People should go watch that movie.
  4. Fair enough maybe it’s not for you. Not everyone is into platformers. I really just wanted to point out that this isn’t a super meat boy clone like you and others are trying to make out. People in here are giving their opinions on a game they have only watched a YouTube video of which is just crazy in my book. Flicking through a game on YT is nothing like experiencing the game.
  5. Not sure what you mean by this. We're still in the 2000's unless you mean early 2000's which wouldn't be right because this game was released in 2018. Also the game has more actions than double jump and wall jump. And the controls are extremely tight, probably some of the best I've ever experienced in platforming. What made this game so good is that the story really integrated well with the platforming. All those deaths really made me feel like I was struggling climbing the mountain with Madeline as opposed to the very generic story in past platformers. If people aren't into platformers then that's fair enough, they won't enjoy this game at all. But anyone who loves platformer games like SMB, Ninja Gaiden, Donkey Kong Country, Battletoads etc. they definitely owe it to themselves to give this game a go. It can be a moderate level difficulty platformer all the way up to one of the most difficult platformers ever made depending how deep you want to get in to the game.
  6. I'm honestly surprised the game even got this many comments. I know Reed generally steers away from putting up games like this because of the really low turn out in the past, so it's good to see he gave an indie another go. This place is definitely not up to date on indies or modern gaming so you have to take what people say about games like this with a grain of salt. Come here for the retro game discussions, but definitely don't come here for the opinions of modern and indie games
  7. In my mind any game is up for backlog status, except maybe games you've 100%, then they're just replays. I think people get too bogged down on making a rigid list. I did the list of games approach the first year and I actively tried to avoid even touching those games. Ever since I went with a more general go with the flow approach I've enjoyed myself. A large list of games works for some but for me just having the freedom of picking up anything I want at any time is better, I've also created achievements for myself this year to make it a bit more interesting.
  8. Thanks for the link. I have to agree, one of the best versions I've listened to.
  9. It isn’t as hard as people make it out to be. It’s no harder than a decent NES platformer. Also there’s a side A and side B level. You can just finish the side A and get the full experience, side B is for those who want to really push themselves.
  10. 10 Absolutely loved this game. The music is amazing, the level designs are tough but never cheap or broken and the story is really moving. I have read that the story is a reflection of what the developer went through but I think what is so great about it is that people can relate to it in their own way. Definitely one of the best platformers ever made imo.
  11. 8/10 for me. The over playing of it has probably worn it out a little but if I ever hear it I still like to crank it. The song is very well written and the progression is so interesting and quite different for what most were doing at the time.
  12. The first couple levels it is annoying but you put up with it. By level 32 you have to wonder how this garbage made it through the approval process. You fall through the platforms a lot of the time, that’s just poor game development in my book. Wrecking crew is actually a good game so I do think it’s worth playing. The controls are tight and for the most part it is fun. Just knock a few levels a night through the year if you don’t have too much time for it. You can select the level you were up to.
  13. Me listening to @DefaultGen on ep238 giving the hard truth that no one will appreciate the GBA library as much as us hardcore GBA fans: We need that GBA episode ASAP so people can find out how underrated the system is.
  14. The Frank Green water bottles are all the rage here. Calm down people, it's just a water bottle at least the positive is people will hopefully be drinking more water.
  15. Beat 4 games on the Famicom/NES Another achievement beat. Overall, probably should have selected better NES games. Oh well, there's always next year. Ice Climber was the final of the 4 needed and I never want to play that game again. Seriously, how does this game rank in some people’s top 100 NES games? If this game wasn’t made by Nintendo or featured characters in Smash Bros, it would be lost to time. The jump mechanic is rubbish and broken, the platforms don’t work properly so half the time you jump through a ledge, the theme song is annoying, and the graphics look like someone vomited all over the screen while playing in the snow. Some stages it was just better to let the polar bear stomp you almost to the top of the level, because it was less frustrating than trying to do it yourself. 1/10. I gave a point for the rather bizarre story of a bird stealing an eggplant.
  16. First achievement unlocked! Beat a NES/Famicom platformer DuckTales 2 beat. This was a really fun platformer but not quite as good as the first. It felt a bit too similar to the first with only some small additions. Still well worth playing. 8.5/10
  17. DuckTales 2 done. Pretty fun platformer but not quite as good as the first.
  18. I've been chipping away at Wrecking Crew since the new year and am now glad to be done with it. I think if I had this game when I was younger I would have appreciated it more and how much is in this game. As an adult, 100 levels just felt like it dragged on and on, especially because some levels just feel like they're there to get the count up. I think 50-60 levels and the ability to save custom levels would have been much better. It's an alright game, I like action puzzlers but it just got very repetitive and rather boring. 6/10 for me.
  19. Wrecking crew done. It just loops after level 100 so I couldn't get any sort of screenshot.
  20. I played some decent games last year so nothing really fell into the lower ranks for me. I also played quite a few 10/10 games, which was a surprise. Hopefully I can discover as many this year. S Tier Mario & Luigi RPG (GBA) Paper Mario 64 (N64) Super Mario Advance 4 (SMB 3) plus the 38 e+ card levels. (GBA) Metroid Zero Mission (GBA) Beyond Good & Evil (GC) A Tier Battle for Naboo (N64) Wario World (GC) Rogue Squadron (N64) Super Donkey Kong GB (GB) LoZ: Triforce of the Gods (GBA) Mario Vs DK (GBA) HOMM2 (PC) Starfox Assault (GC) B Tier 007 World is not enough (N64) Super Mario Advance 2 (GBA) Super Donkey Kong (GBA) New Super Mario Bros 2 (3DS) Famicom Remix: Best Choice (3DS) Sonic generations (3DS) Super Monkey Ball (GC) C Tier Hudson selections vol 3 PC Genjin (GC) Bayonetta 3 (Switch) Kuru Kuru Kurin (GBA) Mickey to Minnie no Magical Quest 2 (GBA)
  21. The reality with collectibles are that most people won't care about them. Some families are lucky and they create a long bond with them and the kid ends up loving the hunt of collecting and collecting the same things. If you have a huge game collection it is most likely they will just sell it in one large lot for like 50% of the value just so they don't have to worry about it. I've had a family member pass and they had a huge card collection. No one wanted to deal with it and sold it off for probably way less than its value. No one cared because no one collects cards in the family and they didn't care too much what value they got because it was one less thing taking up space. If you want to get the best value then probably assigning a friend in real life that knows the true value to deal with it would be the ideal solution. Let them have like a 10% cut of the value (or whatever you think is fair for the effort) and let them try and get the best value they can without going too crazy. You could also cash out yourself but keep the titles that you know are really valuable or will mean something to the family. That way it will be easier for them to manage and you will still have your favourites to play and look at. A smaller collection would be easier for them to manage and possibly hold onto.
  22. I know we have said this many times and agree but I like to say it again for the MK64 fanboys. Diddy Kong Racing is superior to MK64!
  23. Saw Poor Things. Fantastic movie and probably the best movie I’ve seen Emma Stone in, she put a lot into this movie and it really shows. Highly recommend checking it out if you get a chance.
