  1. 9. Haven’t watched it in a while but everyone should definitely watch it once.
  2. Oh I actually see why it never submitted! I had to vote for next weeks game.
  3. Could have sworn I pressed submit vote now in. Haven’t played either of next week’s suggestions so left that blank.
  4. Ahhh ok, must have been someone else then. Sorry about that.
  5. Good write up. I was actually expecting a 5-5.5 reading that review but was surprised to see the 4 (that’s your real score I assume and you just added the .5 to spite Reed ) I may check it out one day when I’m bored and want to experience it for myself. You mention in your review that you’ll defend it against those who haven’t given it a go. I’d argue that you haven’t given a LttP a fair go. Getting to the start of the dark world isn’t giving it a go, that’s barely even starting the game. The game essentially starts from the dark world! I was once like you, thinking LttP is not that great and didn’t buy the hype but once I made solid progress in the dark world, I saw how great the game is. Play through the whole game and I’d be surprised if you honestly gave the game a 4. Some of the late dungeons are some of the toughest and well designed dungeons in a Zelda game.
  6. Says 8 sold in the last 24hours. The guy must be wondering what the hell is going on Let’s hype this thread so we can help him sell his remaining stock of something no one will care about in two weeks time!
  7. If you don’t play modern games you won’t see it or understand it. Reed has given great examples already. Gen 7 laid the path for the indie scene we have today. Games like Minecraft, Braid, Super Meat Boy etc showed that you could make games with small teams and be hugely successful. The Last of Us took story telling in games to a whole new level. Dead Space and Alan Wake helped revitalise a dying (or not doing so well) horror genre. Fallout 3 and NV revitalised an old game and had influence on other games released afterwards. Gears of War, Halo and MW are basically the architects of modern FPS games. It’s actually insane to think how influential MW is. Wii sports. Well do I even need to explain that one The more I list the more I think that gen 7 is such a huge landmark in video game history that it is probably up there with the NES helping revitalising the home gaming market in the US.
  8. I remember playing a lot of MK4 on PC when it came out. It felt so awkward playing a fighting game on a KB but it was a lot of fun.
  9. Defaultgen has said this in another thread and I agree. People really need to overcome this and start being ok with a 5 being the average game. It’s middle of the road. I’ve found some decent stuff, especially movies, rated a 5.
  10. Yeah that’s up to one’s personal choice and opinion. We were just letting you know that there are a lot of influential 7th gen games because you said you were drawing a blank.
  11. It's available on Xbox, GC, PS2 and you can emulate it. The boat never left the harbour
  12. I vote off the description Reed gives but they don’t always match my thoughts or how I rate my games. A 10 to me doesn’t have to be one of my favourite games of all time and a 5 I do think is worth people playing even if it isn’t perfect. I think the 7-9 fits well though. I also do let historical and nostalgia rate into my own personal ratings on the backlog challenge, but will try to mention that when reviewing it. Scoring is never a perfect science but I think Reed’s system works well enough for these debates.
  13. I’ve heard that about Jak 2 & 3. I played a bit of 1 but at the time was over the collectathon gameplay and dropped it. People said 2 and 3 took a different approach. Might check them out next year.
  14. Never heard of the first one but it looks like something they probably would have played a lot on MTV in the 80’s Second one says it’s blocked in my region. I googled it and didn’t know it. Apparently it was in Ice Age but I don’t even remember it been in there, so it joins the pile of songs that I instantly forget about featured in movies .
  15. And the crazy thing is you’re barely scratching the surface. And if we also include PC games or digital only games the list just explodes. The 360/PS3/Wii era basically made the foundation of what games are today. Whether people like that direction is a personal opinion but I love the 7th gen era.
  16. Really? I have a portable USB CD player which has come in handy so many times. How do you play your old PC games without a CD drive? I could probably settle on a USB but from the picture you posted it looks like it does come with a USB but you still have to activate it with Steam. If they came DRM free I’d definitely be more open to having a USB.
  17. For me it’s the story and characters, it created a real connection. If you’re into story driven games then this is where a lot of the cult status comes from. At the time not a lot of games were doing what Beyond Good & Evil did with the story. Especially with a female lead. The action in the game is essentially a light Zelda clone. I don’t think they were trying to break new ground there.
  18. Picked up Magical Chase for the PC. Had no idea this was released on PC but I randomly stumbled across it and found it for a good price and very nice condition. Also continued to add to my GBA library.
  19. I played this last year for my backlog and it instantly became one of my favourite games. 10/10 Apparently the xbox version has the best graphics and load times with GC just a slight step down. I played it on the GC and it looks great and the load times weren't too bad.
  20. If these came on an actual CD I’d be interested but a steam key on a USB just feels weird and not very collectible. Just how I enjoy putting a cart into a console I enjoy the action of putting the CD in the computer.
  21. I need to finish an indie game for my backlog challenge so gave this a go. I'm loving it so far. It really is a mix up of heaps of different genres. It's a bit overwhelming at the start with everything you have to learn about but I'm getting the hang of it. The story is funny and quirky and the ocean looks really nice.
  22. Just want to say well done. That's an impressive feat! I hope I can pull something like that off one day. Time is probably my biggest barrier currently I suppose.
  23. Finally got around to taking some pictures. More to come when I get free time.
  24. I wanted to knock some easy stuff to get the ball rolling. The RPGs, VN and PC games will slow me down. I’m also in Japan for a month in March so I will hardly be gaming. I think I can clear them all by the end of the year though.
