  1. It definitely isn't a full list because I have Neverwinter Nights, Baldur's Gate 1 & 2 plus expansions and Iceland Dale and they were released in Japanese under Sega PC but the list doesn't have them.
  2. I use this list to see if there's anything I like. https://segaretro.org/Sega_PC I've got a couple Sega PC games in their big box, some are pretty hard to find I've noticed.
  3. Did you know the GBA has a The Nightmare Before Christmas game? Did you know it’s a metroidvania? I certainty didn’t but that’s why I love this library, I’m always discovering something new. This game is set before the movie and the plot line is pretty thin. I think they could have done a bit more with this. Especially considering the source material. It looks very nice though and they did a great job trying to stay with the style of the movie while working with the limitations of the GBA. I love the way Jack walks around (if a bit slow at times). Overall, the metroidvania aspect of it is done well and there’s back tracking, weapon upgrades and useless treasures to find. I do wish they had put in a teleport room because some of the back tracking can drag on. There are some hard to look over things though. The games music is rather annoying. I’m not expecting Danny Elfman level music but it’s just so repetitive and not in a catchy way. The difficulty is a bit up and down. It is clearly aimed at kids but then they throw in some really challenging sections only to bring it back down to easy mode. A bit more gradual consistency would have been better. The game feels sparse at times, the enemies are repeated and most of the time they really don’t offer any challenge. The bosses range from dull to quite interesting but nothing that will ever try to do too much. The Oogie fights are probably the most interesting in the game. I went back and forth on what score to give this game. At times it felt like a solid 8 then it would dip to a 7. I ended up settling on a 7.5. It’s well worth a play but it does have a few things holding it back from being great.
  4. Finally watched the SF game and was sad to see the Lions lose, but not taking those 3 points with 4 and 3 was a bit too big balls. Let's go KC!!!! I look forward to all the SF fans in here giving me the angry emoji
  5. I have a contact in Japan but the title on the box is ポータル 1 & 2バーフ so give that a go.
  6. Yeah makes sense for Taiwan. I meant they were trying to sell them here in Australia by just sticking an Australian ratings sticker on it and passing it off as the Australian or US version.
  7. 8 for both. I love grunge so these are easy listens for me. I think SG are easily the better band but I also don’t understand the hatred for PJ. I find it’s pretty hard to find people that are into grunge music. I thought it was a liked genre in the rock/metal scene, but if it isn’t SG or Alice in Chains then they don’t want to talk about it. I’ll continue rocking the flannel in honour!
  8. From what I’ve read, big box games are still being released to this day in Taiwan aren’t they?
  9. I’ll play some of the untranslated ones, but it probably won’t be until later this year. I’m not playing the mahjong games though. I’ll do stuff like Getter Love, Doraemon and Zuru.
  10. I’ve been meaning to make a thread like this for a while so thanks for taking the initiative. I’ve been growing my big and small box collection over the year so I’ll get some pictures up soon. Can’t wait to see what people post in here!
  11. Yeah it was Mass Effect 2. EBay refunded me the money so that was good but it stopped me from buying new games on eBay ever since that experience.
  12. With an Australian ratings sticker as well a lot of Chinese duel language 360 games flooded eBay like this during the day. It was frustrating because the seller would use the US release picture but send you the Chinese version.
  13. Given enough time it all becomes retro and we just break it up into categories. Similar to movies with silent era, black and white etc. it all becomes old stuff to the next generation. After all, the term retro is just short for retrograde, looking back at the past and styles. Xbox and PS2 are definitely not modern games now. 360 I think is sort of on the border, a few franchises are still going from that era and it was also a really long era of video games. But give it another 10-15 years and the majority of 5 year olds of today will look at Assassins Creed and think it is so archaic and retro.
  14. Adelaide? I'm in Melbourne so not too far away
  15. Seen all except The Castle of Cagliostro. All are pretty brilliant except maybe Ponyo, I wasn’t really into that movie. Choosing one favourite is almost impossible but I ultimately went with Princess Mononoke even though Nausicaa could be my favourite if you ask me tomorrow. Both are just amazing stories and resonate with me the most considering I live in a forest in real life and enjoy nature Nausicaa I think has the better soundtrack but the animation is superior in Princess Mononoke. An underrated movie of his is The Wind Rises. Yeah it’s a love story but it is also a fascinating small insight to the powerful Japanese planes being made during WW2 and loosely based on their creator. I’m going to Japan in March and I’m disappointed that the Ghibli park will be doing maintenance when I’m there
  16. I always thought you were from NZ GPX! Glad to have another Australian around and a great read
  17. Haha nah I’m just another one of those crazy GBA guys. Although I’m only going for the Japanese retail set vs the US one which is a bit smaller (a little under 800) so I’m not quite as crazy as the US GBA collectors.
  18. Oh nice! I actually added that book to my list after I saw you mentioned you had read it.
  19. Psycho killer has featured in a few tv shows over the last couple of years. Mindhunter, The Boys and Stranger Things are the ones I remember. I like the song so maybe that’s why I probably remember it though. I gave it an 8. I think Talking Heads are an ok band, not something I go out of my way to listen to but I do like this song. Never heard the second one but it sounded like she was trying to imitate Kate Bush and failed miserably. 2.
  20. I’m like the Oprah of 10’s! I reckon I’ve got some 10’s coming up for my backlog challenge (unless the games manage to somehow drop the ball at the finish line) which is a relief after the awful start to the year. Thought it was going to be a mediocre year for me.
  21. I never voted in this one for some reason, but a 10 is where I would have landed. I probably like Aria of Sorrow/Dawn of Sorrow a little bit more but all three are excellent. It also helped give us the great genre Metroidvania and the term Metroidvania.
  22. Yeah pretty sure they were trying to imply that. At least that’s what I always thought.
  23. A few new pickups. Disney Sports Motorcross was hard to find and definitely won’t be worth the price paid. But I got some great deals on the PC games and the other Disney game I was able to get for $30 vs the usual $80 or so it goes for, so that’s a win. You can’t see it in the picture, but the Deus Ex cover has a quote from someone saying “better than half life” . I have yet to play Half Life but it looks to be a very different game to Deus Ex.
  24. Haha glad I wasn’t the only one. I’m sure it makes sense to the US but it looks like something copy pasted from an AI bot Anyway, US citizens don’t be stupid and lazy. Get out there and vote anyone but Trump. Signed, the rest of the world (except probably Russia).
