  1. Yeah but they released the Super Game Boy adapter in 1994 (and also the "Play it Loud" lineup in 1995). GBC came 1998 so it could've still been relevant to pitch how it wasn't just backwards compatible but actually improved the GB gameplay drastically. Unless those +3 years had made it obsolete to mention.
  2. Yes that's interesting aswell, but a slightly broader topic: all the different ways in wich you could have a Game Boy experience. When GBC came along it perfected how GB was played because everything prior to it had issues with shitty visibility. The displays aren't clear to begin with and motions cause blurring so that you can't see what's going on. But i think nobody cared back then that it perfected GB gameplay. I don't even think Nintendo themselves ever marketed this point.
  3. It's an unique system considering there was no color before and it also had games made for it that wouldn't work backwards. The PS4 Pro is a lot less different than that.
  4. That's great man. I had the GBC growing up altough not that many games. But then again it came much later than the original GB and people weren't running around with full game libraries like they do today so my experiences with GBC are much slimmer. However i do remember using it as my go-to system for the GB games after a while so there's also an impact left from that angle. I prefer it over the GBA ergonomics.
  5. That might've been what sacked it's potential: the fact that it came too late for the stage technology was at. They probably concluded that they're losing out on larger profits by not releasing the GBA. Judging it on it's own i think the system does have it's merits just like both NES and SNES do even though one performs much better. There is a place for simple games in color - with the GBA the games would already be more advanced on top of that.
  6. GBC doesn't seem to have made a big impact on the gaming landscape. Not many people know about any platform-defining games on it and when reviewers have made a "top X" or "gems" list it tends to be for something else instead like the GBA. Nobody seems to have picked up any GBC either on their gamehunting trip etc. It's like one of these weird transitional periods towards something else.
  7. Alright so in that case his issue wouldn't apply.
  8. There might be good ones i don't know but i still wouldn't bother with it when i could have an OG. Does Famicom even have the issue that he's talking about? Because the pitch was NES's flakiness.
  9. The way i see it if you're already bothering using a CRT then you should use a real console. Otherwise might aswell not bother at all and just play through some e-shop, emulator or HDMI adapted console and be done with it. A clone just seems like the worst of both worlds.
  10. It's in the vein of South Park with profanity, toilet humour and whatnot. Altough since it's Japanese natively the cultural context is adjusted on the English dub in order for it to make better sense.
  11. These days i don't even remember all the versions i've played anymore or if/how they differed. Used to have it on my Sony Ericsson phone that had a round button so you could rotate the ship that way and remember having a blast. It's in the dynamic between dodging the big rocks while compartmentalizing others into smaller pieces - altough not too many simultaneously. Preferrably eliminating just one at a time if possible.
  12. Yes very content. I have both a lot of things and also a lot of it is rare at that.
  13. I have the Club Nintendo sign with Super Mario flying on Yoshi altough technically not a SNES sign.
  14. Never heard of anyone wanting to reduce his own original item to a pirated one. Since it's not even done in the name of restoration. It makes no sense at all.
  15. I wonder how he feels about the digital future of probably all games. Does it matter that what he does "dies" in a way, the continuity/institution of it? Or is it fine with what's out already.
