  1. So if a white kid plays the cowboy that may have been involved in the subjugation it becomes ok but not if he plays the part of the underdog recieving - just because he happens to be white? How does this make sense? And also Indians themselves were in a constant state of war raiding and killing each other even before the euros ever arrived so what do you make of that? Does it mean that you're supporting one tribes subjugation over others if you cosplay an Indian? If you play war from real groups someone usually didn't win yeah but that is still beside the point. And you can make the Indians win for that matter if you want to play that way because it's a fucking game. There's nothing mutually exclusive between recognizing wrongdoings and fictionalizing the participants.
  2. Well nowadays everyone is offended by everything so the goal is really open to shoot the ball in. But i'm talking from the players perspective and intentions. I think it's no more or less disrespecting than Western movies don't focus on a cattle rancher living an uneventful existence, because noone wants to watch that dull shit. So we romanticize in shit we do find exciting just like the kids themselves.
  3. I didn't say governance i meant it in the broader sense of the word. Again, who says "we're not respecting our fellow human beings"? Yeah they did wipe out/subjugate those cultures (the people themselves mostly died off disease if i don't remember inaccurately, but ok) but that isn't really the point. Again with the Vikings: when they raided those monestaries on the outskirts of England and killed off all the priests. But nobody really lives that aspect, they romanticize the warriors. The kids romanticize the warriors too: the looks, the clothes, the fucking calling thing you do while tapping the hand over the mouth. We can recognize the bad aspects and have playtime they are not mutually exclusive. A comedian has a different role to play so the outcome is different aswell. But it doesn't have to be bad or wrong.
  4. I don't know these people or what they so i can't say
  5. If it's not a political statement then why is it inappropriate? What exactly is the parent refraining from in that case by witholding it from the kids? How do you conclude that it's not celebrating? I personally never dressed up (from what i can remember atleast) but i did have those mono-colored plastic toys of Cowboys and Indians and i was more intrigued by the Indian aspect of the warriors. I don't agree that it's demeaning even dressing up, most of the time it's celebrating wichever character you try to look as. But then there's of ofcourse that "appropriation" aspect so you're auotomatically barred: not by your intentions but regardless of them based on your ethnic background. But if you instead say openly "no i don't want to take part in this black or Mexican culture, invention, whatever" you're bad aswell so it's like what exactly do you want? This appropriation garbage is just racism packed in a different way and it comes from those thinking they're good.
  6. What about when kids play war is someone at fault there too because people die in wars? Wich side is being subjugated? Who said it's a political statement at all? Should people not be able to put that Viking helmet on with horns and fuck around a little because, you know that was a "profession" based around murder and plunder? They dress like that for a sporting event, fuck around a little and go home. I think this is hyperbole bullshit and causing drama where it doesn't belong.
  7. Well i think we should be more reserved over defining what constitutes racism and when something is and isn't ill intended. And it has to swing all ways - you can't be bolstered to be racist against a white person just because your group is a minority.
  8. Yeah well the scene is set so that it can be taken too far. It can be taken to the fucking moon and back there really is no limit and individual/groups take advantage of it to shut people down - just as he said. People don't need to contend with disagreeing anymore they have a solid chance of shutting something straight down if they don't like it.
  9. It's not ridiculous it's kinda how it is. I mean kids can get hounded for wearing a fucking Indian costume how is that sane? Sarah Silverman got hounded retroactively for playing a blackface character in a comedic skit. And then there was that bitch who started attacking a white guy for wearing dreadlocks, she felt it belonged to her people and he was "culturally appropriating" wich is yet another of these tools that the so-called progressives use. She had been bolstered by their shit. Fictional characters are being analyzed and dissected all the fucking time to conclude wich groups are being offended with the understanding that they get to bully the artist intl concession it really has become a big fucking circus.
  10. So if you structure the code in a certain way it becomes easier to port between platforms. Is it like a language so a game specifically coded for GB is like a localized dialect. So if someone talks Jamaican English or whatever there might be words that make communication harder if you come from the US. Maybe it's a shitty example i don't know. But can all code be dissected? Even if it's much harder, is it always possible for someone to extract the information and adapt it, in this case to GBC? Given that someone has enough knowledge and time - is there any already existing GB game that can never be a GBC game anyway due to technical incompabilities?
  11. Return of Double Dragon is better in JAP than US the enemies dodge and block attacks. It also has some enemy placement and lvl design differences that may or may not be better but duration wise, it has more gameplay. Gon is good. It's one of those puzzle solving adventure games you know kinda lika Ecco the Dolphin you solve obstacles and progress.
  12. I don't like liver it has that iron type of taste to it but it's a good form of diet. Very little calories.
  13. But there is already a game, licensed where did this take place. They released the same Tintin game for GB and GBC. I don't have the equipment to measure and decisively say whether they're 100% identical or if something was modified in programming but just by looking at it it seems identical.
  14. Yes that's a good one. But is it really a 100% replica? I think i heard there where some miniscule details changed in the mechanics for it to run smoothly, something that you'd barely even notice.
  15. Yes i know man but we're talking past each other. I am not talking about a bluescale or brownscale instead of black & white/greyscale that you can use to play a GB game on a GBC system. Neither am i talking about that unique color scheme where the GBC offers some kind of dark green with some purple for game objects (if i remember correctly how it looked). I mean a fully colored game that is based on the GBC color spectrum rather than a palette. How a legit GBC game would be released.
  16. Yes i know but i'm not talking about color palettes like the ones offered on GBC-onwards and Super Game Boy. I mean the full spectrum of colors like the games released for GBC would've allowed. Is it fully doable to write code for any GB game like that and make it run on GBC? Are there any games where technical issues just wouldn't allow it?
  17. But it isn't even a game it's a music crestion program? Not that there's anything wrong with that but i personally wouldn't get any use out of this at all.
  18. So there is this game Tintin in Tibet for GB that is released both with and without color respectively and it got me thinking: is this possible to with every game? What level of programming knowledge would be required and is it hard to accomplish? How long would it take on average per game? Are there any people on this forum that would be able to pull this off?
  19. Yeah that might be it. Altough i like cartridges it feels more "substantial" than a flat fucking disc that you have to house properly or else it gets scrstches.
  20. That's a shame i would've thought Switch was a cheaper platform and one that has more physical copy enthusiasts than the others.
  21. Physical editions for Xbox One and PS4 but no Switch?
  22. I think the game was garbage like were're supposed to be so amazed by a new Mario game and absorb the nature to the point that they don't really have to put any gameplay in there. It's all so fucking nice and shiny so just run around a little and pick flowers, we'll throw in some token enemies that do nothing and call it a day. I know i criticized Breath of the Wild and this can sound similar that game had fun aspects to the exploring while this one is literally about fucking nothing. I think they've gotten full ot themselves and are running on autopilot with the Mario franchise. It's all shine & gimmick now.
  23. I don't know really i mean i don't collect old media like that to know what was lost. Whatever i do like exists. But Return of Double Dragon was supposed to be more fleshed out i wish they could've done what they wanted. Also DD Advance i think they wanted to make use of the full storage of the cart but were made to contend with much less. But that game has a lot going for it already.
  24. Yeah a friend has been pulling boardgame nights a few times. Wasn't much of a production compmexity, he had baked a pie he offered us and there was some candy & juice of some sort. Someone else also brought along juice and candy. 2 people brought along some boardgames of their own. Around 7-8 ppl in total. I've never hosted one but i would'vd fixed some soda & snacks, nothing too spectacular but still a good gesture as a host. Do not proclaim that they should bring snacks of their own, that is some serious next level bum bullshit, if they do by themselves just say "oh ok" and roll along with it but as a grown man you should be able to symbolically have a bowl of candy or popcorn sitting at that table along with something to drink when people are invited to your house.
