  1. I don't want to pic Mario, but I feel like I kind of have to. The series is just too big (especially if I cheat and include spin-offs). The series is huge, and the spin-offs provide a large amount of variety and, in general, pretty high quality. I feel like the other big series that I love have much smaller game libraries and picking Mario would give me more to do.
  2. While I definitely recognize that shelf from the old Family Video stores that I used to visit, I don't think their shelves were so unique that they would look unusual with signage or branding from other stores. I definitely like the way it looks in the picture shown.
  3. The jailbreak news is great, especially since I could not get my Everdrive to work, even after removing the protective cover. I'll try to mess with it later this week.
  4. I definitely have high hopes, and everything I've seen is keeping me excited. However, after the Crash Bandicoot Trilogy Remaster, I will always have a fear that the end product will be a disaster.
  5. Cranky Kong's song is Donkey Kong Jr. who was in first playable in Donkey Kong Jr. (the sequel to the original DK). Donkey Kong Jr. was also playable in the original Super Mario Kart as well as a few other games. Donkey Kong Jr.'s son is the DK that is playable in Donkey Kong Country. However, I always thought it was odd that he isn't referenced in DKC at all
  6. I saw the DF Remaster a while back and I'm super excited for that one. I haven't heard anything about a physical version, but this is the rare case that if a physical copy isn't available on day one, I will probably buy a digital copy just so I can play it. If a physical copy comes out later, I will rebuy it. I don't like doing that and I very rarely do that, but I've been wanting a better way to play Dark Forces for a long time. I just hope they don't screw up the remaster. It's supposed to be the exact same game with updated visuals and maybe some extras. That is all I want. They've done the same thing with the original three Tomb Raider games. The first 3 games have been remastered into a single collection, but as far as I can tell, it's digital only. As much as I enjoy those games, I'm not in a huge rush to buy the digital only copy since I've played my original copies very recently. But I'm very interested in seeing the updated visuals if a physical version ever comes out.
  7. Depending on the game, the "quality of life" improvements can be a big deal. As I've mentioned before, the Jurassic Park Collection from LRG allowed me to save my game in the SNES version of Jurassic Park. Keep in mind, that the original SNES game had absolutely no save feature at all (or even a password feature). That game required you do everything in a single sitting, and that game can take over 4 hours to complete normally (way more if you are not familiar with the layout). They also added an in game map to replace the nothing that came with the original game. Those were much needed improvements to a really fun game.
  8. I've never tried this one, but I have not had good luck getting into kart racers that are not Mario Kart. I've tried the Crash racing series, and the Sonic racing series, and I just can't get into either of those. I know that isn't a good reason to not try this game, but there are so many other games I want to play and I feel like when it comes to scratching the kart racing itch, I'm set with the Mario Kart series.
  9. Did you scroll down? I don't know why, but when you click on the link of an ended item, you have to scroll all the way to the bottom of the page to see it.
  10. Also, if you want to add this, I beat the SNES version of Jurassic Park on the Jurassic Park Collection for Switch. I beat it the night I got it which was just a few months ago. I know that doesn't complete the entire cartridge since there were several other games on that cart, but if you want to mark that portion of the game completed, you can. I noticed the Doom Trilogy was marked 2/3 complete. The Jurassic Park Collection on Switch would be 1/7 complete.
  11. I finished the main part of Mario vs. Donkey Kong (first 8 worlds and final boss). You get to see end credits at this point. After completing it you unlock the "+" version of each world which has completely different levels and boss battles. I'm going to vote that the game isn't "completed" until all of the "+" world levels and bosses are completed. There are also some expert levels that are unlocked after completing the main part of the game. I don't know if these should count towards beating the game, but I plan to get through everything eventually. I'm going to attempt to 100% the game. I've been able to get a star on every level I've completed so far except for one, and I will eventually go back to that level. I've been playing on "classic" mode since I want a challenge. The other mode is "casual" which is the easy mode. I'll leave it up to this group how they want to define "beating" this game. If you want to say finishing the 8 main worlds and final boss, you can consider the game finished and check it off. If you want to include the "+" worlds, I will let you know when I've finished those. If you want to include the expert levels, I will let you know when I do that (if I'm able to). I'm going to attempt to 100% the game regardless of how the group wants to handle it.
  12. I just received notification that my Analogue Pocket adapters are being prepared for shipping.
  13. These are more easter eggs than cameos, but there are lots of guest characters to be found in Duke Nukem 3D and the many add-ons (the Doom Marine being probably the most well known).
  14. Depends on the game. Jurassic Park Collection for the Switch was about 3 months from order to arrival in my hands. Other games have been much longer.
  15. That sounds like a good day. I got my JP Collection a while ago because I ordered it by itself. I always loved the SNES version of JP and think it's hugely underrated. I played through it the same night I got the JP Collection and I still love the game today. My Castlevania Advance Collection will take a while to get here because I lumped it with 3 other orders, so I have to wait for all of those to be ready before I get it.
  16. I had the day off so I picked up the Mario vs. Donkey Kong remake for Switch and I'm playing it now. I'm past the first three worlds. So far it's a nice improvement on the original. The graphics and sound are fantastic. The game still has a time limit, but the time taken to complete a stage is no longer taken into account for getting a start for each level. This means I will probably try and 100% it. I never tried to 100% the original because each stage had to be cleared in a certain time to get the start, and I lose interest when I'm rushed. While I played and enjoyed the original on the GBA, I don't believe I ever technically beat it, which means this game might be another on the list this year of games that I've completed for the first time.
  17. I have the day off today, and since it's snowing pretty hard I can't get most of the work done that I planned to do today, so I picked this up and started playing it. I was a huge fan of the original game, so I've been looking forward to it.
  18. 1211 Eye of the Tiger is the song my wife and I entered our wedding reception to.
  19. I beat Metroid Zero Mission tonight. This is the third game that I've beaten for the first time so far this year, so it's been a good year for my backlog. My stats weren't great, but I managed to do it without a guide. As I've mentioned before, I've made it to the space pirate ship in previous attempts, but I never bothered to actually finish the game. As much as I enjoy this game, every time I play it, it reminds me how much better Super Metroid is.
  20. Truthfully, I wrote my comment first, then while reading through the choices, I felt that 6 was a better match to how I felt about it, but didn't feel the desire to reword my post. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
  21. I think the game is just ok. I never played it as a kid since I never knew anyone who owned a Sega CD. Playing it now just makes me want to play Sonic 2 which is still my favorite Sonic game of all time. It's not a bad game by any means, but it just doesn't hold my attention the way the original Sonic games did.
  22. Great movie. I haven't watched it in a while, but I've seen it recently enough to know it still holds up well today. I prefer the action of the sequel to the horror of the original, but it's still a great movie.
  23. I finished Aria of Sorrow for the first time earlier this week (never played it prior to this). I absolutely loved this game, and I think I enjoyed it more than Symphony of the Night. This game sucked me in right away and the minor improvements to the controls and inventory system over SOTN were very welcome. I also really enjoyed the soul system power ups. Obviously the graphics and music were not as good as SOTN, but that's to be expected with a GBA game compared to a PS1 game. I made it through most of the game without a guide, but I ended up using one towards the end to set myself up for the good ending. I've been on a Metroidvania kick lately, so I'm thinking about going back to Metroid Zero mission since I've never technically finished that game (made it to the space pirate ship twice).
  24. It's weird because the image looked so familiar, but I've never played that game before.
