  1. I vote the next site just be called "Michael." (start at 3:56 if the embeded link isn't already doing so)
  2. I'll start thinking about names for the new website that will be needed after you sell this one and the new owner tanks it.
  3. When the collection first came out and I complained about the controls being garbage on Facebook, I was accused of being bad at the game. That's fucking laughable. I was as excited for that collection as anyone and I bought it for PS4 on day 1. I put several hours into it and made it a ways into the game. I gave it a fair shake, but it's just not good. Years later, my kids got the Switch version as a gift. I thought I would give it another try, but came to the same conclusion. The game looks fantastic, but then again, so do the originals. Since the graphics are a bit cartoony, they have aged extremely well on the PS1, so it just makes more sense for me to play those versions. I'll go to the grave complaining about how much I hate the remakes.
  4. I can confirm controls are garbage on PS4 and Switch. I haven't played any other version. I would be curious what % of the reviewers played the originals. Nearly everyone I've spoken to who was familiar with the originals agreed with me. If you enjoy the remakes, feel free to play them. I gave the remake collection a fairy fair attempt on two separate occasions (multiple hours of gameplay each time), and it's unplayable for me. I can play the originals today and beat them with my eyes closed. I replay the originals almost annually. I doubt I will ever touch the remakes again.
  5. The controls are absolute garbage making it nearly unplayable in any level that requires precision jumping. This is even worse for those who played the originals enough to develop muscle memory on the platforming.
  6. What are you talking about? Over in the Club section I've documented every single Barbie game available on the PS1. Where else are you going to find this kind of information? That has to be worth something, right?
  7. This thread, and your post are making me consider the same. Funny thing is that I tend to go through spurts of playing lots of video games, or watching lots of movies. I've been playing tons of video games recently and I'm almost ready for a break. So I might try to start making my way through this list.
  8. 35 I'm counting films that I watched with my parents as a child, even if I remember nothing about the movie.
  9. I'm 100% fine with sellers using the cheapest shipping method possible. But they should be open about that and advertise it that way. It would be nice to have the option for faster and more expensive shipping options, but not required. I'm not a fan of sellers advertising a faster shipping method, but using a cheaper method. I think it's fair to at least message them about it and see if they are willing to work with you. If they want to work with you, that's great. If they don't, I wouldn't do business with them again. I don't think it's worth going to war over.
  10. Very cool. I've never seen that myself, and unfortunately, I don't know anything about it. If a PS1 version exists, I would love to have it.
  11. I don't want to pic Mario, but I feel like I kind of have to. The series is just too big (especially if I cheat and include spin-offs). The series is huge, and the spin-offs provide a large amount of variety and, in general, pretty high quality. I feel like the other big series that I love have much smaller game libraries and picking Mario would give me more to do.
  12. While I definitely recognize that shelf from the old Family Video stores that I used to visit, I don't think their shelves were so unique that they would look unusual with signage or branding from other stores. I definitely like the way it looks in the picture shown.
  13. The jailbreak news is great, especially since I could not get my Everdrive to work, even after removing the protective cover. I'll try to mess with it later this week.
  14. I definitely have high hopes, and everything I've seen is keeping me excited. However, after the Crash Bandicoot Trilogy Remaster, I will always have a fear that the end product will be a disaster.
  15. Cranky Kong's song is Donkey Kong Jr. who was in first playable in Donkey Kong Jr. (the sequel to the original DK). Donkey Kong Jr. was also playable in the original Super Mario Kart as well as a few other games. Donkey Kong Jr.'s son is the DK that is playable in Donkey Kong Country. However, I always thought it was odd that he isn't referenced in DKC at all
  16. I saw the DF Remaster a while back and I'm super excited for that one. I haven't heard anything about a physical version, but this is the rare case that if a physical copy isn't available on day one, I will probably buy a digital copy just so I can play it. If a physical copy comes out later, I will rebuy it. I don't like doing that and I very rarely do that, but I've been wanting a better way to play Dark Forces for a long time. I just hope they don't screw up the remaster. It's supposed to be the exact same game with updated visuals and maybe some extras. That is all I want. They've done the same thing with the original three Tomb Raider games. The first 3 games have been remastered into a single collection, but as far as I can tell, it's digital only. As much as I enjoy those games, I'm not in a huge rush to buy the digital only copy since I've played my original copies very recently. But I'm very interested in seeing the updated visuals if a physical version ever comes out.
  17. Depending on the game, the "quality of life" improvements can be a big deal. As I've mentioned before, the Jurassic Park Collection from LRG allowed me to save my game in the SNES version of Jurassic Park. Keep in mind, that the original SNES game had absolutely no save feature at all (or even a password feature). That game required you do everything in a single sitting, and that game can take over 4 hours to complete normally (way more if you are not familiar with the layout). They also added an in game map to replace the nothing that came with the original game. Those were much needed improvements to a really fun game.
  18. I've never tried this one, but I have not had good luck getting into kart racers that are not Mario Kart. I've tried the Crash racing series, and the Sonic racing series, and I just can't get into either of those. I know that isn't a good reason to not try this game, but there are so many other games I want to play and I feel like when it comes to scratching the kart racing itch, I'm set with the Mario Kart series.
  19. Did you scroll down? I don't know why, but when you click on the link of an ended item, you have to scroll all the way to the bottom of the page to see it.
  20. Also, if you want to add this, I beat the SNES version of Jurassic Park on the Jurassic Park Collection for Switch. I beat it the night I got it which was just a few months ago. I know that doesn't complete the entire cartridge since there were several other games on that cart, but if you want to mark that portion of the game completed, you can. I noticed the Doom Trilogy was marked 2/3 complete. The Jurassic Park Collection on Switch would be 1/7 complete.
  21. I finished the main part of Mario vs. Donkey Kong (first 8 worlds and final boss). You get to see end credits at this point. After completing it you unlock the "+" version of each world which has completely different levels and boss battles. I'm going to vote that the game isn't "completed" until all of the "+" world levels and bosses are completed. There are also some expert levels that are unlocked after completing the main part of the game. I don't know if these should count towards beating the game, but I plan to get through everything eventually. I'm going to attempt to 100% the game. I've been able to get a star on every level I've completed so far except for one, and I will eventually go back to that level. I've been playing on "classic" mode since I want a challenge. The other mode is "casual" which is the easy mode. I'll leave it up to this group how they want to define "beating" this game. If you want to say finishing the 8 main worlds and final boss, you can consider the game finished and check it off. If you want to include the "+" worlds, I will let you know when I've finished those. If you want to include the expert levels, I will let you know when I do that (if I'm able to). I'm going to attempt to 100% the game regardless of how the group wants to handle it.
  22. I just received notification that my Analogue Pocket adapters are being prepared for shipping.
  23. These are more easter eggs than cameos, but there are lots of guest characters to be found in Duke Nukem 3D and the many add-ons (the Doom Marine being probably the most well known).
  24. Depends on the game. Jurassic Park Collection for the Switch was about 3 months from order to arrival in my hands. Other games have been much longer.
