  1. They aren't considered essential so there is less focus on those things. Yes it is illegal to mark up stuff 4 to 6 times over retail value however Ebay I guess made the decision that they aren't price gouging. I am just assuming at this point that the sellers were reported to Ebay for price gouging already.
  2. @Tanooki I get that from a lot of Facebook sellers where people change the asking price or you get other buyers who are salty they didn't get the deal so they sabotage the deal. Not everybody honors the price they ask. Yes it's a good deal for you but sometimes it's best in the long run if the deal didn't go through if the seller is going to have that kind of attitude. Look at it this way he could've not shipped anything at all so you dodged a disaster.
  3. @Naked WarriorSometimes it's best in the long run on Ebay to just buy the whole lot the way it is rather than dealing with having a seller create a new listing. As you described it became a hassle.
  4. Yes you have to request a call back through the site now. I tried using the call back today and they aren't available right now. You could probably get that negative feedback removed appealing it. The buyer clearly didn't read the ad.
  5. If you make an offer on Ebay the seller is able to see what city, state and zip code the buyer is from. I am just making a guess which might be accurate this rare sign you are making an offer on isn't getting much interest. If you made an offer with a shipping address from one location and then make another offer on another account with a location 9 minutes away a seller knows whats up. It doesn't take much to put two together.
  6. Not everybody is nice. He wasn't interested. He should've just said he was Firm on his price and be done with it. It's all part of the business. You get people like that. I wouldn't have wasted any time calling Ebay. Every second you waited for a person/talked to a person was a waste of time. They will do nothing. Yes you can report it but nothing happens.
  7. I talked to Ebay on the phone when I first got the return case and after the buyer appealed the partial refund. Yes I brought that up which its in Ebay's own policy however a buyer can still get a refund. I know that refunds were up for me in 2020 due to Ebay's stance. I will message you a scan of the slip.
  8. Ebay will side with the buyer no matter what. I do agree with the other comments where it's the battery not the system. If the buyer insists yes give him a full refund upon return of the item. The hassle you will be dealing with will go nowhere. Here is an example. I sold a $100 game to somebody on Ebay. They wanted a refund 2 weeks later cause they bought the same game for cheaper at a game store. I called Ebay and they said the buyer will win no matter what. I refunded all but shipping cost upon return after making it clear. Buyer was able to get it reverse and Ebay awarded the buyer the shipping cost as well. So I was out shipping up and back all because of the buyer found it for cheaper. It's all part of doing business on Ebay.
  9. I've been talking to a couple people on other site dealing with the same situation. It sucks that Ebay now requires people to use the contact form which only active members can use instead of the customer support number being down due to covid. They would give you a call back. That's how it's working now.
  10. I now pay with my discover or master card for Ebay purchases. Get 2% back or get a promotional rate of 5% back on either card 6 months out of the year then just pay it off.
  11. What is mind boggling to me is how many buyers on Ebay think they are getting a $200 authentic game for $25 especially with multiple of the same game available by the seller.
  12. Wait until the item shows up and you can make your own decision what you want to do at that point. I understand that it sucks for it to cost more than what was paid but the seller should've had that all figured out before even listing the item available to purchase as a shipping option. In majority of the cases I have experienced if the item cost more to ship than what was collected the seller would refund and just cancel the transaction all together. I would say if it really did cost the seller the extra $5 I would say send it to him once item is in your hands and you're satisfied with what was sent to you.
  13. Whenever purchasing an item through Facebook buy it now which requires shipping I would suggest reaching out to the seller before even making the purchase. You made a comment "It could all be a misunderstanding from an inexperienced seller." If the seller doesn't reply in a timely manner to your questions like what is your estimated time of shipment or any other questions you may have you might want to avoid them.
  14. This is very true and on top of that when a non collector has retro stuff like NES games they expect market or more than market value. Which is actually flooding the market like Ebay, CL, Facebook amount other sites with overpriced video games that have no chance of selling.
  15. When it comes to being a buyer and if you are expecting garage sale deal on say video games forget it. Everybody wants market value or even more. So it depends on the item.
  16. When this echeck situation happens do you have funds in your Paypal account or do you have to withdrawl it from your bank account? If you have to withdraw it from your bank account that could trigger an echeck.
