  1. Yeah, I released hundreds of protos over the years. From your list I released for sure: Spy vs Spy 2 Crash and the Boys Ice Challenge (early Ike! Ike! Hockey without translations done yet) Fighting Simulator World Champ Crazyland A bunch not on the list (Chuck Yeager, Kitty's Catch, Hoppin' Mad, USA Bowling, Arcadia VI, others). I owned a bunch of others on the list, but can't remember if I was the one who released the ROM, if it was others, or if it was never released publicly (War on Wheels, Noah's Ark, Super Turrican, Ufouria, one of the many Airballs, many others on the list). I backed up the Madden proto (it's like 3 static screens that cycle through each other, I hesitate to even call it a proto) but no one released that. Fun House was a weird one. Played very similar to the Muppet game. There was an animation that very much looked like the host J.D. Roth was jerking off (seriously, I have no idea why they added it). Nice list my man.
  2. I know there was at least a full box art mock up created for the unreleased Fun House that I owned years back. With it getting that far, I would have assumed there would be at least some formal mention in an ad or magazine, but I can't say for sure. Worth exploring I'd think. Edit: It was a VidPro card. Not sure if that counts enough to make the list.
  3. Yes, absolutely. Fairly common. The "Tengen Tetris" label makes little sense, but the "Tetris" label underneath could be legit. Tetris has such a weird history on the NES, I stopped trying to figure out what the deal was. That being said, I've owned a Licensed Tengen Tetris prototype, I've owned Tengen protos on Nintendo PCBs, I've owned Tengen protos on Tengen PCBs, and I've owned one Tengen proto on an Atari PCB (hardest to find by far IMO, only seen one other and it's on eBay now). Is there any dates on any of the chips or the PCB that are far after the production of Tengen Tetris? That would be the easiest way to rule out prototype. I could be convinced either way personally.
  4. Yes, of course, rare does not equal valuable. I knew it was incredibly rare, but when a guy like you chimes in and says it's only the second one you've seen, that's about as rare as it gets to me. Is there anyone that archives and catalogs things like this? If there was a database that had rare or unusual accessories and the like, I'd gladly scan things or even send it their way.
  5. Quick price drop to $75 shipped in the US.
  6. The controller is definitely well loved and has seen better days, but if you're looking for one, they're pretty hard to come by. $75 shipped in the US. Would like to avoid international shipping if possible. Thanks!
  7. Awesome guys, sounds like somewhere around $125 is reasonable. Thanks for the help!
  8. Yeah, I owned two Sharp TVs in the past and a handful of controllers, but that was like 10-15 years ago. I'm thinking something like $125 shipped. What do folks think? Too much? Too little? Again, I appreciate the help!
  9. Haven't seen one change hands in a long time. This is the controller for the Sharp NES TV. Controller is in less than average condition. Thanks!
  10. I just sold one of these last month for $200 shipped. Haven't seen them sold anywhere since 2012, so if you want one, this is probably your best bet. $125 shipped each, $300 for the lot. US addresses only, too expensive to ship overseas. Boxes are beat and have some tears, they were smooshed a bit when I got them. https://photos.app.goo.gl/pTcnF2L8uAnopBPw8 If you're only buying one, I'll take photos of the actual one I'm shipping to you. ALL SOLD!
  11. I can speak from the teacher and parent of a young child side of things. The situation isn't remotely ideal. People (teachers, parents, students) need to be flexible to the furthest extent possible as this situation isn't particularly enjoyable for anyone involved. Teachers need to be flexible with their instruction methodologies and understand that it is exceptionally hard for a working parent to help their child navigate a million unfamiliar apps and both synchronous and asynchronous learning. Parents need to understand that teacher's options for instruction are limited, and they're doing their best with the hand they're dealt. We understand that you have a young child or children at home and you also have a full time job that you're committed to doing. Many teachers (myself included) are in the exact same situation. We'd much, much rather be teaching your children in person as we've been trained to do and have done for many years, but we're unfortunately in the middle of a global pandemic, and we're learning as we go much like you all are. The academic experiences are not the same and not as good as they were previously. The social experiences are not the same and not as good as they were previously. Our instructional options are limited. The ability for working parents to play a secondary role as a teacher is limited. We have to tread water a bit until the world allows us to go back to normal. When parents share their frustration, I validate it and do my best to mitigate whatever concerns or issues they are having. Same with students. I ask that they share the same patience and flexibility with me as well, and so far most have been very understanding. As for the pay piece, it's largely regional. I am not at the top of my pay scale, and I'm set to make $97,677 this year as a base salary. Yes, I had to get a Master's degree, and I have to continue to take grad courses to maintain my license, but I have zero issue with the amount of money I get paid. If I was unsatisfied, I'd simply pursue a different line of work. I'm paid comfortably enough that I'm closing on my fourth multifamily in two weeks (Charlestown, Monument Square with a rooftop deck that centers on the Bunker Hill Monument) and have never felt strapped for cash. It's a matter of living below my means and working additional hours and not taking the summers off. I understand other parts of the country have issues with teacher pay, but public schools in the Greater Boston area pay very well, and that's likely a big part of why they're some of the best schools in the nation. My 2 cents.
  12. I'm not saying it's impossible, but I just don't see why we should *assume* there will be a large quantity of these found in the next ten years. At that point, you're talking about the time between production and discovery being 37 years. I just don't see it as having a high likelihood, but all I can do is speculate on that. As far as those two being part of the 6 or so that you know of, sure, ok, entirely possible. My point was that if I'm looking for recent rumblings or info, I can find some info on the Taiwanese version a few times in the last two years. I can't seem to find much of anything on the US Innovations version since 2012. As far as I can tell/remember, there were a handful of them available on Amazon at that time (I can't remember the number, but it was a 2 digit number). They were snatched up quickly by collectors, and there has been a drought since. With essentially no photos or discussion of the US version in the last 8 or so years (and again, I'm hoping to be wrong as I'd like to see more info), I have a hard time calling this anything but exceptionally rare for the Genesis. That's not to say expensive, or desirable, but if someone really wanted to buy one right now, regardless of the price, I'd imagine it wouldn't be an easy thing to do.
  13. Eh, the game is 27 years old at this point. To assume there are pallets of these controllers around is a bit of a stretch. Anything is possible of course, but pallet finds of any kind are becoming less and less common. I'm familiar with Realtec in the sense that it's a Taiwanese company (I mention as much in the opening post). I've seen the Taiwan version much more recently than the US version: That's from 2018. The most recent post I can find about the US version between what I posted and what you posted is 2012. I was really hoping for *any* sort of sales data, collector's data, or even relatively recent discussion. Not a whole lot of unlicensed games for the Genny, and though the game is relatively common, the only way to play it in an enjoyable way is with this controller. It's like if WCTM was a rarity 1 and the power pad was a rarity 10. It's incredibly odd. I cross posted on Sega-16, but that place is becoming more and more of a ghost town. Maybe I'll find a Genesis collector's group on Facebook or something. Regardless, I appreciate the help folks! Edit to add: Another more recent post about the Taiwanese version, this one from 2019: https://www.hobbyconsolas.com/reportajes/juego-cascar-topos-mega-drive-historias-tio-bruno-423321
  14. That’s awesome! I’d love to hear johnny’s take on it (or any other Genny collector for that matter). I snatched it up when I saw it as I knew it was near impossible to find, and I *think* it was around 2012. Again, haven’t heard or seen one pop up since, so I’d love to know what the deal is with them (More out there? Desirable? Expensive?)
  15. I was clearing out some of my old junk and stumbled on this guy: https://photos.app.goo.gl/RmiVjV2v5wdduwEe6 A Sega Smash controller used for Whac-A-Critter in the US (or Mallet Legend in Taiwan). It's made by Realtec, and it's new old stock. I'm having a really hard time seeing any that changed hands in the last 10 years. Gamesniped called it rarer than Outback Joey 11 years ago: http://gamesniped.com/2009/11/06/whac-a-critter-realtec-controller/ And this Sega16 article from 2008 speculated that the controller didn't exist: https://www.sega-16.com/2008/11/mallet-legends-whac-a-critter/ So... What's the deal with these things? Anyone seen or heard anything about them since 2012? I'm not holding onto this thing, but I'd love some data points if anyone has any info. Having owned a complete Outback Joey, I've seen that change hands plenty over the last decade, but nothing on this controller. Thanks for any help!
  16. Looking for a price check on the following: NIB Dominator Pro Beam. CIB seems to be about $60, not sure if there is a premium for NIB. DMG-01 Gameboy. CIB with almost all NOS components aside from the system. Batteries removed. Gameboy has been used, it appears as though nothing else. I believe in my early days I used the NOS GB and swapped it with a used one. Poor decision in hindsight, but this is like in 2004, so you'll have to forgive me. DMG Gameboy Basic Set. No idea on the terms, I've never been a GB guy. Great shape aside from some old battery leak in the box. All cleaned up and works perfect. Triton Pad CIB. Literally never seen this CIB ever, I've seen a few stock photos and a magazine add for it. I know rare accessories aren't always valuable, but this thing appears to be relatively unobtainable, even loose. Photos can be found here: https://photos.app.goo.gl/qqB9X1e9ashvCt6P6 I can take additional photos or answer additional questions.
  17. I don’t play much at all, but I picked my Switch up again during quarantine. Noticed my left joy con forcing a character to the left, hopped on VGS and found this thread. I just replaced it, took like 5-10 minutes. The replacement set I bought had a y00 screwdriver that was complete junk and stripped itself immediately, so I bought a nice precision security screwdriver set. Money well spent as it looks as though I’ll likely have to do this again down the road. I’ve never docked my Switch and only treat it as a handheld, so the joy cons are my only option really.
  18. My coffee drinking has changed more than most of my other routines during the pandemic. Every morning I've had a large Dark Roast Iced Coffee, from Dunkin. At school I'd drink any random k-cups black throughout the day, medium dark roast iced coffee black from Dunks around 4:30 pm. Now that I'm not leaving my house unless I need to purchase something truly essential, I'm brewing 50 oz of cold brew a day and drinking it black. Currently have a bag of Starbucks French Roast. I don't like the super smoothness of cold brew, but I want Iced coffee conveniently in bulk, so it'll do for now.
  19. I’m not suggesting any of this is ideal, but I’m pretty keen on keeping my job, so I’ll do as my superintendent mandates.
  20. My wife is a kindergarten teacher in Arlington. Her kids are 1-1 iPads. 4 of the 7 elementary schools in her district are 1–1. Massachusetts schools my man.
  21. Distance learning is a blanket term and will mean something different to people depending on their district. We’ve been a 1-1 district for years, so every kid has an iPad they need to bring to school each day. Utilizing things like MyHomework and Google Classroom allows me to do a lot of my general teaching without being in direct contact with my students. I’ll be giving instruction directly to my students. Parent expectations won’t change for what I’m providing. If they want to know what their kid is doing, they can access MyHomework or Google Classroom as they always have. As parents will have a tough time with their children at home, teachers will need to provide instruction while at home. Not super easy for me to teach with a 2 year old at home.
  22. Kansas schools done for the year, looks like more are likely to follow.
  23. Yeah, Dalton and Mariota would be brutal. I have no issue with them rolling the dice and someone completely unproven like Stidham. If Castle can grab 11 wins, anything is possible under Bill. Brady to Tampa seems the most likely right now, but there’s an outside chance he just hangs em up entirely. Stranger things have happened.
  24. Tom Brady is leaving the Pats. Any guesses on: - Where he goes? - Who the Patriots start next season?
