  2. Owed some moolah this year, as expected. Not that I make much mind you, I'm actually in one of the lower tax brackets https://www.forbes.com/advisor/taxes/taxes-federal-income-tax-bracket/ The nice thing, this year you can pay your Fed taxes using a credit card
  3. Austrian chancellor calls meeting with Putin ‘unfriendly’ and ‘tough’ https://www.yahoo.com/news/austrian-chancellor-calls-meeting-putin-171815982.html According to Nehammer’s office, as reported by CNN, the pair spoke for about 75 minutes at Putin’s residence outside Moscow. Before the talks, Nehammer said he intended to tell Putin that he “lost the war morally.” “It should be in his [Putin’s] own interest that someone tells him the truth,” Austrian Foreign Minister Alexander Schallenberg said. “I think it is important and we owe it to ourselves if we want to save human lives.”
  4. Unfortunately crimes against civilians always happens during times of war. Know what the difference is? Watch and listen to this - you'll see that Russian soldiers are under orders to kill civilians! Warning - not an easy video to watch... (could not embed the video, link below) This is why people say that the Russians are "evil" because they told by their superiors to murder innocent civilians. Yes, I know, not every soldier is evil etc etc but it does not change the fact that as a whole the Russians are targeting civilians and there is no sympathy nor empathy for such atrocities. https://www.cnn.com/videos/world/2022/04/08/audio-intercepts-russian-soldiers-chance-vpx.cnn/video/playlists/russia-ukraine-military-conflict/
  5. Truly disgusting. The excuses "they're just kids" is utter bullshite. They're "young adults" and know exactly what they're doing.
  6. I always knew that the MBTA was corrupt, poorly managed, overblown, overly expensive... BUT, I never suspected it would actually kill people https://www.wcvb.com/article/man-dies-mbta-red-line-broadway-station-boston/39684023# A spokesperson for the Suffolk County District Attorney's Office said a passenger got their arm stuck in the doorway of an inbound Red Line train at the Broadway platform, was dragged a short distance and died of their injuries.

  10. Very illuminating read Russian intelligence isn’t all it’s cracked up to be https://www.spectator.co.uk/article/spy-story-the-myth-of-russian-intelligence It is true that there is one area in which Russian intelligence agencies are a step ahead of their western counterparts: clandestine operations aimed at spreading misinformation. When Putin came to power, he created his own foreign intelligence organisation. Today it is known as the Fifth Service and its deputy leader Anatoly Bolyukh is also in charge of ‘fake news’ for use in Russia and abroad. On this, Western agencies have much to learn. But in the great spy game, this appears to be Russia's only advantage.
  11. Wow, every single release! Good for you and your collection, I'm impressed Oh, and feel free to share some pics!
  12. Help Wanted: Adjunct Professor, Must Have Doctorate. Salary: $0. After protests, U.C.L.A. took down a job posting that offered no pay. But it turns out colleges often expect Ph.D.s to work for free. https://www.nytimes.com/2022/04/06/us/ucla-adjunct-professor-salary.html https://www.insidehighered.com/news/2022/03/21/ucla-criticized-advertising-adjunct-job-without-pay “It’s corrupting: it legitimates the concept of asking a Ph.D. to work for free, it mocks the idea that a nationally advertised search is meant to look for nationally qualified candidates. That this is coming from a state that supposedly has liberal politics and respect for public higher education, in a city that is liberal, in a community of allegedly liberal administrators and faculty, should tell roughly how much all those political alignments are worth when it comes to exploiting labor and corrupting rules.” What a load of shit!! UCLA, super-rich institution, hiring slaves "instructors" with A PhD for a salary of $0?? All the while, the men's basketball coach is earning $4 million. Reminds me, I do need a new shirt...
  13. I was looking through my vast orders from LRG... which made me think - What is your favorite LRG production? What are you most disappointed with? Overall, I'm just thankful LRG publishes games which in general would not receive a physical release! Still, I think LRG at their best include Jak and Daxter Remastered, which was beautifully done and was high-quality. About the worst thing you can say about it is that it does take up quite a bit of space I was a bit disappointed by their Ys Origin release for the PS4, which was probably 3-4 years ago. First, it did not include the original soundtrack, secondly, the whole box and design was rather poor. Later on, there was a secondary Ys Origin release which DID include the soundtrack and was much better! I ended up trading my Ys Origin release. My purchasing of LRG has slowed down recently because they're outputting so much, but I have no problem with this. Again, I purchase what I enjoy! Of course, if I was a completionist and wanted to purchase every single LRG release... well, you'd have to be a millionaire
  14. "The battle for Donbas will remind you of the Second World War," Kuleba said. He used this warning to immediately call on Western allies to provide more heavy weaponry, including air defense systems, artillery, armored vehicles, and jets. Russian President Vladimir Putin's forces are regrouping for a new eastern offensive on the Donbas region after failing to capture Kyiv. President Joe Biden said on Friday that the US was supporting Slovakia's decision to ship the S-300 missile system to Ukraine and was sending the Eastern European country a US-made Patriot missile-defense system as a replacement.
  15. Everything @fcgamer said about Taiwan sounds factually correct. Not to mention the fact that they live in Taiwan. Didn't see any propaganda there. Regardless, as it stands, Russia invaded Ukraine without any provocation and they are trying to destroy an independent country as well as undermine Western democracy - that too, is a fact. Even though I agree that you can't judge a single soldier by the war they are fighting, nevertheless I am 100% on the Ukrainian side and hope they obliterate the invaders. That doesn't mean I don't have empathy, I'm for better or worse, a realist.
  16. It's not that an individual soldier is viewed as black and white, it's the sides. During WWII many young Germans were killed. Were all of them "evil"? Of course not. Did some of them wish there was never a war? Certainly. Did most Nazi soldiers know what they were doing and had no problems committing atrocities? Absolutely. In fact, there's even a term to describe the myth that most Germans were "innocent" and it is called the myth of the clean Wehrmacht https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Myth_of_the_clean_Wehrmacht Likewise, you seem to think that Russian soldiers are just young schoolboys not really knowing what's going on - which is incorrect. Again, certainly some of them think the whole war is stupid, but you can't explain all the atrocities they've committed against innocent civilian populations as "just a few bad apples". There's no empathizing with murderers like this.
  17. 'The Day After' director addresses the prospect of a nuclear war between America and Russia : 'These are very scary times' https://www.yahoo.com/entertainment/the-day-after-nicholas-meyer-america-russia-ukraine-nuclear-war-130354918.html "These are very scary times," Meyer says on the phone from his home in California. "Looking at who's in charge now in Russia, Vladimir Putin's a very different-minded leader than Mikhail Gorbachev back in the day. And we've got a lot of young men with huge responsibilities on battlefields where the slightest miscalculation could lead to widespread devastation beyond what is only Ukraine. Things didn't get better after 1983."
  18. Young? most likely. Innocent? certainly some, but then again how do "innocent" people do this? https://www.thedailybeast.com/russia-bombs-fleeing-families-at-kramatorsk-train-station Russian Troops Brag They Bombed Fleeing Families at Train Station
  19. Manufactured by US weapons manufacturers Raytheon and Lockheed Martin, the Javelin costs $178,000, including the launch system and missile, according to the Pentagon's 2021 budget. Each replacement missile costs around $78,000
  20. Looks fun! I take it you're a big horror fan? I do really like horror movies, but don't watch them much since most are just boring Last two "horror" films I truly enjoyed were The Lighthouse and The Witch.
  21. ? I think, or at least hope, we can all agree Mr Putin is evil and clearly the "bad guy" here. What I'm confused about is why you seem to think that Putin is not very well supported in Russia - you seem to argue that independent polls done in Russia are wrong for some reason, and you also seem to question experts who conclude that Putin is overall very respected. I agree with you that news directly from the Kremlin is 100% suspect, but these polls were independent. Although, as of now, I don't know of any independent news in Russia, I think Putin has destroyed it all https://foreignpolicy.com/2022/04/05/russia-media-independence-putin/
