  1. 'Capable of anything': How the '99 apartment bombings explain Putin's rise and regime https://www.yahoo.com/news/putin-1999-apartment-bombings-ukraine-175001959.html There is “no serious doubt that Putin came to power as the result of an act of terror against his own people,” says David Satter, who has investigated the apartment bombings perhaps more thoroughly than any other Western journalist. “Someone capable of such a crime is capable of anything,” Satter told Yahoo News in a telephone conversation from Paris. “And the proper attitude towards him is deterrence, not partnership.” Russian investigators and journalists who tried to investigate the bombings often ended up dead. Among them was Anna Politkovskaya, a fearless critic of Putin who worked for Novaya Gazeta, one of the last remaining left-leaning outlets in Moscow today. She aggressively covered the Second Chechen War; in 2006, Politkovskaya was assassinated in her apartment building’s elevator. “Every American president has gotten Putin wrong,” says Satter, who in 2014 earned the distinction of being the first Western journalist since the end of the Cold War to have been expelled from Russia. “Some have gotten him outrageously wrong."
  2. BCA Research, a Canadian business, told clients to “stay bullish” on stocks and “largely ignore existential risk” as their investments will become “irrelevant” if the Ukraine crisis leads to nuclear armageddon. Mr Berezin said: “If Putin concludes that he has no future, the risk is that he will decide that no one else should have a future either.” Boy, it would be nice to think Putin is just "sable rattling" but let's be realistic here - he's deranged and if he figures he will take down the West with him, more than likely that is that...
  3. Found the game for you! Check out the time to complete DQ IX -
  4. I was under the impression that Elden Ring was supposed to be this HUGE game, and I figured it meant that it would be larger and longer than other Souls games. Is the open world similar to say Breath of Wild? Skyrim? Something else? Is it exciting or dull? At any rate, I am surprised it's such a relatively short game, although I'm sure DLC are in the works.
  5. Suspect in New York subway feces attack, also charged in separate hate crime, released again https://www.yahoo.com/news/suspect-york-subway-feces-attack-211823398.html The Bronx district attorney confirmed to NBC New York that Abrokwa was again released on his own recognizance after he was booked on the new charges Wednesday. None of the charges qualify for Abrokwa to be held on bail under New York state’s bail reform laws, NBC New York reported. City officials slammed Abrokwa's repeated releases. “This individual should not be out on the streets of New York and his release shows the scope of changes that we need to make in order to keep New Yorkers safe," Mayor Eric Adams said Thursday in a statement. I'm sure so many in NYC are happy that AOC and others pushed for this bail reform... https://gothamist.com/news/amidst-chaos-rikers-aoc-and-maloney-call-das-ease-bail Rep. Carolyn Maloney and Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, are calling on local district attorneys to seek lower bails and empty city jails.
  6. In such instances nothing is ever "just a precaution".
  7. Russians shooting at independent journalists - so what else is new?
  8. Well, it's not too late to change that "no" vote... https://bgr.com/tech/nuke-proof-doomsday-plane-spotted-flying-over-nebraska/
  9. I thought they did... but even if they have not, I know some of their games such as Cotton tend to be widely available at retailers. So I guess the better question is whether the compilation will be widely distributed?
  10. Hello! I wonder if LRG will also be releasing this?
  11. Nice haul! Might I ask general conditions and prices? Discworld is awesome
  12. Kosovo parliament urges government to start NATO membership bid https://www.yahoo.com/news/kosovo-parliament-urges-government-start-123549721.html Putin has done more to push Eastern European countries westward than anything since the fall of the Soviet Union! Good job Putin, now hopefully you'll die and rot in hell soon!!
  13. While not as "intense" as The Day After etc. here is my favorite anti-war/WWIII/apocalyptic movie of all time!
  14. Wowsy, wow wow ... yup, some people have guts Entrepreneur Alex Konanykhin made the promise in a post on social media site LinkedIn and called it his “moral duty” to take action and help Ukraine following the unprovoked attack. “I promise to pay $1,000,000 to the officer(s) who, complying with their constitutional duty, arrest(s) Putin as a war criminal under Russian and international laws,” wrote Mr Konanykhin. “Putin is not the Russian president as he came to power as the result of a special operation of blowing up apartment buildings in Russia, then violated the Constitution by eliminating free elections and murdering his opponents.” His post included a photo of Mr Putin, with the caption, “Wanted: Dead or alive. Vladimir Putin for mass murder.”
  15. Really cool! Does the Kojima autograph come with a certificate of authenticity?
  16. Suspect in Bronx subway feces attack blows up at judge in courtroom tirade https://www.yahoo.com/news/suspect-bronx-subway-feces-attack-053900416.html The man accused of smearing feces on a woman waiting for a subway cursed out a Bronx judge during his first court appearance Tuesday... (Frank) Abrokwa (37 years old), who’s been arrested 44 times, has one felony conviction and 10 misdemeanor convictions on his record, a Manhattan prosecutor noted while asking for supervised release in a recent non bail-eligible case. That's it? only arrested 44 times? Let this poor man go free NYC! Clearly, your reforms are making NYC safer and more appealing. I mean, who doesn't want to go into a city where no one is ever arrested, sounds truly like paradise...
  17. I am curious how of this is really "online"? I played Dark Souls 1,2,3 all offline (Bloodborne too) because I love the feel of being alone in such a crazy, eerie, but beautiful world... That said, I was not a fan of Dark Souls 3, I felt it lost much of it's magic by the end, and I thought Nioh (1 and 2) were superior to Dark Souls in just about every way. Also thought Bloodborne was superior to Dark souls. I'm hoping Ring is more enjoyable than DS3 and I'm hoping the online component is not necessary.
  18. Would like to hear your thoughts on Elden Ring? Did you play Dark Souls or Bloodborne and did you enjoy those?
  19. Switch or PS4! I'll probably get the PS4 version, but the game looks lovely
  20. Yeah, I think the megalomaniac assumed it would go exactly as it did 2014 when Russia annexed Crimea and the whole world basically said "well gee, that's not nice!" It would honestly be fun to be a fly on the wall and see how angry Putin must be getting because NOTHING is going to his plan Yup, exact opposite of what he wants. I'm sure he'll do a lot more sable rattling, and my guess is at the end of the day he'll withdraw and say that the whole operation was a success, and that they "crushed" the rebellion etc.
