  4. I watched the video, she absolutely said "On Twitter, a lot of the little Twitter trolls, they like to say ‘Oh, Jesus didn’t need an AR-15, how many AR-15s do you think Jesus would have had?’ Well, he didn’t have enough to keep his government from killing him.” I also do not think anything is being taken out of context. No one assumes that she thinks guns were around back then. Clearly, she is a huge supporter of assault rifles and is mixing religion into politics which is dangerous and stupid. This country was built on the enlightened idea of "separation of church and state" - and I'm not saying there should be zero religion at all - clearly that has never been the case. Nevertheless, the Founding Fathers believed that you should mix the two as little as possible and you have to be careful.
  5. Lauren Boebert Says the Romans Killed Jesus Because He Didn’t Have an AR-15 https://www.thewrap.com/lauren-boebert-says-the-romans-killed-jesus-because-he-didnt-have-an-ar-15-video/ “On Twitter, a lot of the little Twitter trolls, they like to say ‘Oh, Jesus didn’t need an AR-15, how many AR-15s do you think Jesus would have had?’ Well, he didn’t have enough to keep his government from killing him.” Now, we aren’t theologians, and this writer isn’t even a Christian. But it’s pretty well known that the defining theological concept of Christianity is that Jesus, who if you’re a Christian you believe is also both God and the son of God at the same time, willingly allowed himself to be tortured and then executed by crucifixion as a sacrifice to atone for the sins of humanity. Suffice to say, Jesus going full Rambo on the Romans kind of achieves a different outcome. But honestly? Sounds like one hell of a movie, uh, no pun intended.
  6. If Putin goes nuclear, Biden has a stark menu of options https://www.nbcnews.com/politics/national-security/will-biden-putin-goes-nuclear-experts-say-nuclear-response-unlikely-no-rcna32756 “I worry that people are not being open-minded to the reality that there are scenarios in which Russia could use nuclear weapons. They’re not the most likely scenarios, but to be responsible, we have to figure that into our thinking about this conflict,” Jeffrey Edmonds, an expert on the Russian military at the CNA think tank, says there are four possible response scenarios, only two of which are plausible: Capitulate and sue for peace; stay the course with sanctions and pressure; mount a conventional attack to punish Russia; respond with a nuclear attack on Russia
  7. Nude woman steals CPD squad car, runs over officer’s leg, then crashes car, top cop says https://www.chicagotribune.com/news/breaking/ct-nude-woman-steals-crashes-cpd-squad-car-20220613-yhuv4cuucvd27i6ht57snytm6e-story.html She walked toward the officer, then walked past him and, with no or very little resistance, got into the driver’s seat of his SUV, the video shows. The officer grabbed hold of the woman’s arm as the driver’s side door remained open for a couple seconds, the video shows. The woman then put the car in reverse, knocking the officer to the ground. The officer appeared to either get run over by the car or pushed by the car behind another vehicle that was in traffic, the video shows. The police SUV’s driver’s side door was damaged when it struck the back of that other vehicle, and the woman sped away from the scene. According to a media alert, officers responded to a call of shots fired about 9:50 a.m. There they were “confronted” by a 34-year-old woman who took control of a squad car. The officer was taken to a hospital where he was treated and released, the alert said. The woman drove away from the area while hitting multiple vehicles, the alert said. She was eventually arrested and taken to Stroger Hospital in an unknown condition. Charges are pending.
  8. https://www.engadget.com/google-ai-lamda-blake-lemoine-212412967.html Blake Lemoine, a Google engineer working in its Responsible AI division, revealed to The Washington Post that he believes one of the company's AI projects has achieved sentience. And after reading his conversations with LaMDA (short for Language Model for Dialogue Applications), it's easy to see why. The chatbot system, which relies on Google's language models and trillions of words from the internet, seems to have the ability to think about its own existence and its place in the world. After discussing his work, as well as what he described as Google's unethical AI activities, with a representative of the House Judiciary committee, the company placed him on paid administrative leave over breaching his confidentiality agreement. Google also flatly denies Lemoine's argument: “Our team — including ethicists and technologists — has reviewed Blake’s concerns per our AI Principles and have informed him that the evidence does not support his claims," Google spokesperson Brian Gabriel told The Washington Post. "He was told that there was no evidence that LaMDA was sentient (and lots of evidence against it).” While it's tempting to believe LaMDA has miraculously turned into a conscious being, Lemoine unfortunately doesn't have much proof to justify his provocative statements. Indeed, he admits to WaPo that his claims are based on his experience as a priest and not a scientist. Daniel Dennett, a philosopher who's been exploring questions around consciousness and the human mind for decade..."No existing computer system no matter how good it is at answering questions like Watson on Jeopardy or categorizing pictures, for instance, no such system is conscious today, not close," he added."And although I think it's possible in principle to make a conscious android, a conscious robot, I don't think it's desirable; I don't think there would be great benefits to doing this; and there would be some significant harms and dangers too."
  9. NATO needs to make sure to remember to send Putin a nice holiday card Sweden moving to meet Turkey's demands: NATO https://www.yahoo.com/news/sweden-moving-meet-turkeys-demands-151108805.html Stoltenberg also said the aim was to have Sweden and Finland join NATO "as soon as possible" and that it was inconceivable that NATO allies would not come to Sweden's defence if it were attacked.
  10. Amazing... one day, I too, hope to have a limitless source of income
  11. https://www.yahoo.com/news/putin-preparing-starve-much-developing-051547728.html The historian said he believed Putin's "hunger plan" had three main objectives. First, to cut off Ukraine's exports in an attempt to destroy its statehood. Second, to create instability in Europe by producing refugees from areas that rely on Ukraine's food, like North Africa and the Middle East. Lastly, he said Putin wanted to use mass starvation as a "backdrop for a propaganda contest." "When the food riots begin, and as starvation spreads, Russian propaganda will blame Ukraine, and call for Russia's territorial gains in Ukraine to be recognized, and for all sanctions to be lifted," Snyder said.
  12. I read that as well, and it's actually from 2017 https://www.click2houston.com/news/2017/10/13/driver-accused-of-leading-police-on-100-mph-chase-appears-in-court/ Maybe a slow news day at yahoo?
  13. Geico ordered to pay Missouri woman $5.2 million after she contracted STD in a car https://www.cnn.com/2022/06/09/us/geico-insurance-std-settlement-missouri/index.html A Missouri woman was awarded $5.2 million in a settlement from insurance company GEICO after contracting a sexually transmitted disease from her partner in his vehicle, which was insured by the company, court documents show. The Missouri Court of Appeals upheld that award this week. n February 2021, the woman -- anonymously identified in documents as M.O. -- submitted a petition to GEICO directly. She alleged that her sexual partner negligently caused or "contributed to cause to be infected with HPV by not taking proper precautions and neglecting to inform and/or disclose his diagnosis," according to court documents, and that his "insurance policy provided coverage for her injuries and losses." I don't know if I'm missing something here... but this sounds like a load of pure bullshite! If I were Geico I would appeal this to the Supreme Court of I needed to...
  14. Mitchell fled the scene and texted the auto theft victim, “Why you got the police on me?” according to an affidavit. Wow... wonder if he expected ice cream instead?
  15. It would be nice if the Republicans could... oh, how to put this, stop associating/praising/having ANYTHING to do with fucking Nazis GOP House Candidate Backed by Party Leadership Said Hitler Is ‘The Kind of Leader We Need’ https://www.rollingstone.com/politics/politics-news/carl-paladino-praises-hitler-1365057/ “I was thinking the other day about somebody had mentioned on the radio Adolf Hitler and how he aroused the crowds,” Paladino replied. “And he would get up there screaming these epithets and these people were just — they were hypnotized by him … I guess that’s the kind of leader we need today. We need somebody inspirational. We need somebody that is a doer, has been there and done it.”
