  1. Some of the games on this list needed ability. Certain ones did not That is, unless memorizing terrible level layouts is an ability
  2. To me that's like saying every level in a Mario game should be designed with a speed runner primarily in mind. That you should sink 50 hours hobbling through levels with wonky pacing, conflicting mechanics, memorizing the entire game so that you can work towards experiencing it in an optimal fashion. That sounds like a terrible idea, and a terrible Mario game. I think it's a deeply flawed concept from a deeply flawed creator, that is still living off of going viral before going viral was a thing. Feel free to swap out Mario for the platformer of your choice. Pretend I said Celeste, and it still works. The best games work both ways.
  3. To paraphrase myself It's a series that endlessly pushes you to go fast, fast, fast, and then endlessly punishes you for doing exactly that.
  4. Goddammit. Brain didn't even go there. A day after I mention Arco Mage.
  5. General rule of thumb for Reed, James, Gloves: look at their favorite games list
  6. The Walking Dead - Just completed season 3 last night, so that leaves Final Season and Michonne. I'll do those in a month or two. On hiatus. Dragons Dogma Dark Arisen - Defeated the dragon, started the Everfall, and recently started dabbling in Bitterblack Island. I like WRPGs, and open world games like this. But unfortunately the first half of the game often felt like a drag. Constantly wandering the same mountain trails, back and forth on fetch quests, killing the same respawning mobs of bandits and goblins, with the same cyclops and chimera "boss" fights again and again. Difficulty curve is non-existent: everything wilts in two hits, or tanks your damage. Luckily the endgame and DA stuff seems a whole lot better. We'll see, as I'm gonna put it on a short hiatus to recharge.
  7. People who actually complete their games are informed, not haters This one is gonna come down to personal preference. The funny part is I think GH is far from the best Treasure game.
  8. Not sure who you're asking, but yes you can start new games in M&M3. You just have no prayer at getting them anywhere.
  9. My boys and I do a lot of 4 player. Big hits over the last year or two: Super Mario 3D World Super Mario Wonder Jamestown+ Streets of Rage 4 TMNT Shredder's Revenge Castle Crashers Wild Guns Reloaded
  10. Hah, never gonna let me forget. Maybe some day I'll stick it on the backlog.
  11. Pretty much. The good players rock the full 20-deep Ascension. Getting through the base game means being able to synergize any hand you're dealt, which can be done. edit: Not to undersell the difficulty, which is substantial
  12. Dangit, our best chance to finally be rid of Opt, and all we got was some N64 carts falling off the wall. Glad to hear you're safe
  13. I haven't seen it in over 20 years, but in my mind: Jerkass Homer Newfound reliance on celeb guest spots playing themselves Reliance on dumb gags instead of clever writing (Homer's waterskiing underwater, how wacky!) Did I mention Jerkass Homer?
  14. Glasses are for losers
  15. @bronzeshield is the guy to ask since he runs an atariage thread that globally tracks all this stuff. Two different twitch guys kind of got close(ish), but I think they were pretty loose with the sports game requirements. Peebs and Absnerdity. I haven't checked in on either in awhile. I think they were basically doing it as a full-time job . There's a ton of other people that tried and quit almost immediately.
  16. I feel like this thread is a veiled excuse for @avatar! to vent his Slay the Spire frustrations yet again
  17. Yes. There's games where I can reach the final boss but can't get over the hump (Metal Warriors, Wizardry V, Zombies Ate My Neighbors) Games where the overall difficulty has defeated me (Jim Power, Championship Pool) Games that I'm not sure anyone on planet Earth has conquered them (Sports Illustrated Football and Baseball) Games where I spent night after night, suffering through their pain, unable to get a complete run together (Cutthroat Island, Lethal Weapon, so many others).
