It's also interesting that I'd imagine many of us were in high school in the 2000s, but many of the songs from that era actually underperform. Does that speak to how that era is looked at? I'm checking the previous brackets right now, and at a glance it appears that by the end of the third round every single song left standing has been from the 1980s or 1990s. ...with the sole exception of Change/Pump It, because that region had two songs from 2000 as their oldest entries.

I'm also proud of myself for not giving into temptation and looking for a single hint. The one quasi-exception was the hedge maze puzzle I accidentally guessed out of the blue. I spent an hour trying to reverse engineer why my solution had worked, baffled. So I gave in eventually, and found out it was the one and only puzzle I'd come across that

Update: I used this system for their birthday, and even implemented it into some whiteboards where I tally points for things like fastening their seatbelts (without having to be asked), reading books (and giving me an oral book report), and being nice to their brothers. Having your choice of hundreds or thousands of games is a powerful motivator. They're getting dangerously close to realizing they can inquire about the classic retro games though. Not sure what I'll do when that day comes. Plus certain games are off my backlog and onto their's now, so I can live vicariously through them

Probably the day my best friend Eddie bailed on me for the all-city 2 on 2 basketball tournament so he could team up with Kenny "The Spider" Jackson. I was pretty crushed because the winner was gonna get seasons tickets for the Chicago Bulls, and I knew we had a great chance at taking home the championship. But then at the last minute an elderly lady nicknamed "Grandmama" agreed to help me out. My neighbor's mother explained that Grandmama was pretty good in her prime, so I took a chance on her and agreed to partner up. And what do you know? We won, even though Grandmama injured her knee, forcing me into a dramatic 1v1 showdown against Eddie in the finals. But even better than the tickets I won? The lesson in friendship that Eddie and I both won that day. Wait, that was an episode of Family Matters.
