  1. The ones I haven't played a significant amount of: The Witcher III - already planned for the 2025 backlog Grand Theft Auto V - already on the 2024 backlog Minecraft - probably won't play Red Dead Redemption II - already planned for the 2025 backlog Disco Elysium - already planned for the 2025 backlog Pokemon Blue/Red - I'll get to it someday for reference. I did mess around with some kid's copy back in middle school while we were in Oregon, but that doesn't count. Super Mario Galaxy 2 - I'll get to it if it ever gets ported off of the Wii Super Smash Bros. Melee - I've played like 5 rounds of battle, so I didn't count it. Can't imagine I ever re-acquire it either. System Shock 2 - future backlog. I'm like 95% sure I have it on GoG. The Sims - probably won't play Overwatch - probably won't play Civilization IV - probably won't play Outer Wilds - already planned for the 2025 backlog Spelunky - maybe some day Persona 5 - already planned for the 2025 backlog Persona 4 - future backlog Zork - maybe some day Day of the Tentacle - future backlog Rocket League - maybe, who knows. Gran Turismo - own it, probably won't ever happen Soul Calibur - probably won't play Age of Empires - I played the shit out of the first one, and I think I own the 2nd one. Civilization 5 - own it, who knows if I'll ever get to it Fire Emblem Three Houses - already planned for the 2025 backlog Elite - probably won't play X-COM Enemy Unknown - who knows, maybe it if gets ported. 2. The list has some really strange sections further down. Some problem with their formula, probably.
  3. Let me take this moment to promote The Backlog Challenge™ "See all those games you're supposed to play, but never do because you're too busy, I dunno, watching YouTube videos of cats or something? Well take the reins today, and... like, do it and shit. Those lists aren't going to cross themselves off!" Testimonials from some guys to follow
  4. I'll rewatch it tonight. Maybe grab some V8 on the way home... Also, the first two films (also Cannon) are fun too. Even if they do not involve ninja ghost possession
  5. In fact, I'm making up this set of gaming eras, completely off the top of my head: The early age of video games The post-Super Mario Bros. 2D age The early 3D age The refined 3D age The modern melting pot of classic and new ideas age
  6. What about the Indie revolution we've seen over the last 10-15 years? The 4 games in the current game debate poll (Witness, Baba, Obra, Tunic) are 4 of the most celebrated games of the last decade, but don't really fit into that breakdown. One of the reasons I feel like the 2000s and 2010s are very different eras of gaming.
  7. I guess I should clarify that I never just try a game out for a few minutes either. I generally commit at least a couple hours before dropping anything. If I played a game for 10 minutes I'd probably still consider it unplayed. Maybe that's just me.
  8. We should restart the debate of what the word "modern" means while we're at it
  9. Funny timing. Literally yesterday I took a look at this list and counted how many I've played. I'm at 158 of the top 200. Which I feel like is going to be highest number here outside of maybe @Sumez or maybe a couple other people. I also plan on rolling out a series of blogs later this year for my own personal top 200 games. But I'll only be happy with such a list if I play as many of history's most notable games as possible. But this is a neverending battle. Anyway, as of right now, here are just some of the big ones that I still need to get to. Some, like LoL and Roblox, I'll probably never play: Final Fantasy The Witcher III Dark Souls III Roblox (any of it) Minecraft (in any serious capacity) Overwatch (in any form) League of Legends Tears of the Kingdom Disco Elysium Final Fantasy VII remakes Divinity Original Sin 2 Baldur's Gate 3 Cyberpunk 2077 The OG Pokemon games Grand Theft Auto V God of War Ragnarok Super Mario Galaxy 2 System Shock Some of the early LucasArts stuff like Maniac Mansion, Day of the Tentacle, etc. Outer Wilds ...and so forth. It never ends.
  10. My real (and boring) answer would be something about my kids being born. A slightly more interesting answer would be something like us going to the lake as a family for summer vacation and having a perfect long day that you remember forever.
  11. https://forums.atariage.com/topic/320408-what-game-led-you-buy-snes-at-the-time/?do=findComment&comment=5133943 Like I said, I read all of the comments once upon a time Props to @Tanooki for sharing
  12. Silent Night Deadly Night - a by-the-book slasher trying to ride on the coattails of Halloween, Black Christmas, and Christmas Evil. SNDN2 - an even more forgettable sequel that nowadays solely exists as a garbage day meme. SNDN3 - Bill Mosely is a guy with an exposed brain now, for some reason. SNDN4 - Clint Howard is the muscle (wtf?) for a coven of witches (or something) that wants to impregnate women with giant insects that cause you to spontaneously combust and/or possibly turn into some sort of body morphing worm human, so that you can cut open and pour the worm juice onto yourself or something (wtf?). SNDN5 - Micky Rooney made a murder Pinocchio, which itself invented murder rollerblades.
  13. I think the cast and crew's hatred of Chevy was a benefit at times, as they drew up plots designed the torture him
  14. Well, now I understand your adversion to my Mario praise in the SNES rankings. ...and yes, I may have scanned the entire internet for feedback to the rankings at one point
  15. It's also interesting that I'd imagine many of us were in high school in the 2000s, but many of the songs from that era actually underperform. Does that speak to how that era is looked at? Have I just somehow avoided the songs that people have strong feelings for? Have the numbers and matchups just not worked in their favor? All of the above?
  16. Just imagine, in a parallel universe the two highest rated (and nostalgia-driven) games are Minecraft and Fortnite
  17. I'm checking the previous brackets right now, and at a glance it appears that by the end of the third round every single song left standing has been from the 1980s or 1990s. ...with the sole exception of Change/Pump It, because that region had two songs from 2000 as their oldest entries.
  18. I'm also proud of myself for not giving into temptation and looking for a single hint. The one quasi-exception was the hedge maze puzzle I accidentally guessed out of the blue. I spent an hour trying to reverse engineer why my solution had worked, baffled. So I gave in eventually, and found out it was the one and only puzzle I'd come across that
  19. As it stands, the following Mario games are all grouped together, rounding out the top 10, which is pretty amazing considered we've done over 200 games: 9.09 - Super Mario Bros. 3 9.08 - Super Mario 64 9.08 - Super Mario Bros. 9.02 - Super Mario World
  20. There is a lot I haven't done. I'll return to it at some point. Obviously the
