  1. Man good advice all around. I too like the advice of if it doesn't give you joy to own it then sell it now. Don't try time shit. Take the cash and buy something you really want or use it to make an investment if you want that retirement play money. Also think it's a real good idea to so small batch sells to see if you have sellers remorse or if you actually like the exchange. I have junk that I like or junk that don't want and pretty much no one wants so likely going to end up in a GoodWill donation box to go back where it was either destine to go and I stopped from happening at a garage sale or where I originally got it. I've gotten better when focusing my buying or just over focusing on buying what I enjoy and don't think about what it could be worth down the road. I sure as shit not buying to then sell down the road for a profit. If anything I'd buy to then gift to a VGS member
  2. Don't they have these stickers in the wrong place though??
  3. ::puts note pad away:: I don't know where you came up with that idea. I mean these are very well known expensive and well sought after items. Not like these are unknown items that one may come across in a thrift store or garage sale and they have no clue what they have.
  4. VGS has money but not enough to hire the talents of @DefaultGen. So far the feed back has been good and much more positive than I thought. I think we'll be able to do a couple of things which one or more will be of interest to most VGS members if the current response is a good representation of the active VGS community.
  5. I feel like my budget for collecting individual games is WELL below the average collector on VGS. I have finally settled on a very defined collection and find enjoyment in achieving that goal and diving into the unique items related to that collection. But even with collecting for a modern system that many people ignore I find myself have some sticker price shock over some "rare" items. At lease with PSVR2 I'm getting on that boat from the get go so I can try and snag those rare items at MSRP when they are reasonable.
  6. I love the idea of a VGS State of the union address from Gloves. And with regards to using Twitch, I get it. Using any new thing can be a pain in the ass. This is why I'm leaning towards reposting streams to YouTube since everyone knows that AND you can watch any time you got some time to kill. Appreciate you pointing out that you are not familiar with that platform. I'm sure there are many more like you too
  7. LOL, I don't think the goal of the stream channel is to be famous. The goal is to have fun doing or watching the stream. Secondary goal is to get the VGS name out there for other like minded individuals to join the community and make it better. A growing community is a strong community. But I do like your idea of members flexing their skills. There is some crazy talent from looking at those Weekly NES Challenge scores.
  8. Yeeeeaaah... My super expensive Horizon: Forbidden West edition included an empty steel case and a digital download code for PS4/PS5. I mean, I bought the thing for the giant ass statue which I wasn't displeased with detail of. And yeah, there is like 5 other items that they just threw in that I could careless about.
  9. I just bought the ebay kit Khromak recommended. Anyway I can test quality of caps with a multimeter? I'll be sure to use console5 for future purchases or make my own kit from a reputable supplier (usually not cheap for small orders).
  10. Oh yeah! Almost pick a 10 but I had to realize I have to be very stingy with handing those out. Solid 9/10 for sure, absolutely a classic that needs to be watch.
  11. I'm looking to do some recapping work on my GameGear and original Xbox. Does anyone have a recommended place to buy a kit? Also bonus points if they sell mods for consoles/handhelds.
  12. VGS is looking to get into streaming and wants to get your opinion on some things before we dive into this new endeavor. Please fill out the quick little questionnaire and feel free to leave a comment on any thoughts you have. Later on we'll post a thread about some streaming topics ideas and ask for any volunteers interested in being part of the VGS Stream Team.
  13. My holy grail is Sony's first VR/3D head mounted display for PlayStation 2. You can read more about it here, https://www.digitalgamemuseum.org/sony-pud-j5a-virtual-reality-headset/
  14. What's your holy grail that you want or that you achieved?
  15. Got me 2 vintage PS2 Head Mounted Displays (HMD) to add to my collection... Sony Glasstron PLM-50 - Japanese exclusive HMD, first commercially sold HMD. Sony Glasstron PLM-A55 - 3rd HMD released for commercial use and the last one for the PS2 era of HMD. I plan on eventually doing a full review and history of Sony's HMDs that lead up to the PSVR. It'll be a blog and video post.
  16. Solid picks up for the Genny again! Those looks in great condition.
  17. You should get a cheap used PSVR headset and play Dirt Rally (PS4) or Gran Turismo Sport (PS4) to try VR racing. I forget if it's both games or just one, but they don't render the back part of the vehicle so you can look behind you and see you are driving only half a car
  18. @bALEXc What SNESNESCUBE64 said. Easy fix is to reflow the soldier joints of where the pins connect to the circuit board. This YT video is of a video output but it's basically the same thing for a joystick port.
  19. I'd say a switch/sensor for sure. Replacing the belt/band was a good call for how old it is. I'd also recommend using some lithium grease on the moving parts. Looking at the video I can see the black belt driver trying to spin. Though I'm not sure if it's trying to spin in the correct direction. Maybe the tray is trying to open even further because it doesn't realize it's open all the way (sensor/switch doesn't signal it's all the way open). I don't have a Sega CD to try but I know on old CD stuff you couldn't half way open and get it to close. I'd need to fully open before closing. If it's like the latter then I'd say what ever switch is suppose to be triggered isn't or the contacts are so dirty it's not completing the circuit. Why it stutters when it opens.... hard to say. If everything is greased then a loose connection to the electric motor? That seems much harder to troubleshoot. But for why the tray won't close. I have a good guess on that one and how to trouble shoot it. Find the switch/sensor that the tray hits when is fully open. Make sure the tray is triggering it. Simple switches will often have a bit of plastic push the switch closed. If the plastic bit is broken off then that is your problem. Make sure the switch complete the circuit when engaged. You'll need a multimeter that checks for continuity. Pretty basic stuff for even cheap meters to do. If it doesn't complete the circuit then spray some contact cleaner and engage the switch a bunch to help the cleaner do it's job. Retest for continuity. Hopefully it works. If it doesn't you need a new switch which I'm sure is standard part but who knows how to identify that specific standard part. It's a cheap part that you may find in another cheap electronic device or you could order a random assortment to then find a replacement one that fits with some luck. If the switch is making a closed circuit then I'd say trace the wires and see if there is a bad soldier joint somewhere. This could be absolute pain if it's not obvious where there is a lose joint.
  20. This is purely a term used in the Werewolf club. It means to "isolate", which means to ONLY read one member's post in a thread to get a "read" on the person.
  21. Meh, I post the meme polls here as it's casual joke post. These aren't serious discussions. But maybe I should rethink where I post the meme polls if it's a fitting topic like this
  22. In general I'm a stand edition kinda guy. But like all of us I will buy the "special" editions for games I REALLY love.
