  1. Dark, like my soul.
  2. I have no clue how it'll treat me this year. Over the last year I... Moved from an apartment to a house Took 33k out of my RRSP under the "First time home buyers' plan" Moved provinces Got laid off Worked as a teacher for a semester Did some freelance contracts All of which are entirely new to me as a taxpayer. I imagine they're all quite busy right now, but I should probably talk to an accountant rather than just doing it myself via WealthSimple like I usually do.
  3. Just beat Arcade Gears Vol. 1: Pu-Li-Ru-La on the Saturn. It's a pretty short, quirky arcade beat-em-up game with an interesting little story. Fun, and pretty challenging on the default settings as someone who doesn't play this genre much at all.
  4. Lol yeah in terms of suddenly the physical release being sold for more - that's plum silly, those numbers haven't changed in the slightest, and as you say the physical pc version is available. I imagine those people buying it today are more in the "this is the only way to play now, so one day this copy will be worth EVEN MORE!" camp than the "man I'm really gonna wanna pop this in my ps3 in 20 years, better get it while I can" camp.
  5. Another reminder that the so-called "digital future" is a nightmare scenario for anyone who cares at all about preservation and especially accessibility of content, Spec Ops: The Line has been delisted from all online platforms like Steam et al and so if you've not already purchased it in the past, you can no longer purchase it ever (digitally). It's not the best game in history, it's not even the best third-person shooter that came out that year, but it's a bit of a mixed bag of mixed messages and especially important ones relating to war and video games in today's climate. It's disappointing to see them do this without warning (we had a few days after Steam delisted it to go buy it for sale on GOG and a few other platforms), and especially over music licensing. I won't get into how ridiculous it is that you can't continue to sell something because the music you paid to put in it required a contract which means you can't sell it anymore after a certain date because it contains that music, suffice it to say that it's fuckin' dumb (I'm eloquent af). If you purchased it on GOG (or another DRM-free platform, I assume one or two others have popped up over the years) you can still download backup offline install files as I've done to preserve my ability to play it in the future, cuz who knows what the future holds. If you purchased it on Steam prior to the delisting you can still install and play it, you just can't buy it if you don't already own it.
  6. Yeah those are just the really popular titles, for the most part. This is basically ignoring indies, and anything that didn't land specifically on PS3 (I didn't have an Xbox).
  7. A small, non-exhaustive list of Gen 7 bangers. GTA 5 Uncharted Oblivion + Skyrim The Last of Us Red Dead Redemption 1 & 2 Mass Effect Bioshock Fallout 3 + NV LittleBigPlanet Batman: Arkham Series Metal Gear Solid 4 (and V) Hotline Miami Burnout Paradise Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 1-3, World at War, Black Ops Dead Space 1 & 2 Wolfenstein TellTale series (e.g. Walking Dead, Wolf Among Us, others) Street Fighter 4 Persona 5 The list goes on. Gen 7 was phenomenal.
  8. Generally speaking we anonymize, not delete.
  9. Some people are allergic to just having fun. The puzzles can be a bit cryptic so you can get lost at times. The guns get the job done, the audio is decent enough. There's some real asshole enemy placement at times (e.g. enemies who can hit you from a distance without the need for a physical projectile (i.e. screaming at you to do damage) but I mean come on, it's from that time when memorizing a level was the only way to actually get through unscathed.
  10. Daikatana if it were legit decent. Not like amazing or anything, I imagine most people would play and be confused or angry lol, but I honestly imagine you'd enjoy it.
  11. I've been playing a lot of Battlefield 2: Modern Combat online on PS2 lately. A dedicated team managed to get servers working with stat tracking and everything, so it's exactly like it was back in the day. Pretty impressive.
  12. Chasm was essentially time travelling Quake, to reduce it to a few words. Military complex, ancient Egypt, medieval times, alien spaceship. It had some pretty decent dismemberment physics for the time, one dude for instance had an arm that could shoot buzzsaws, which you could remove, reducing him to trying to bite you. Military dude's with guns, shoot off their gun arm and they'll try to punch you with the other, shoot THAT off and they try to kick you lol. Was great fun, and it actually got a remaster on ps5/Steam which is phenomenal.
  13. I only "recently" listened to Black Hole Sun when it came up in another of Reed's threads, and I wasn't a fan. I feel like I need to give it another few listens to let it percolate a bit, see if it grows on me.

Two are, the third is not.

It's three similar (at a glance) cats. They're very unique to each other in person.
  16. I've started playing Baldur's Gate 3, finally in the mood for it. Ended up committing to doing so via multiplayer with my wife, and we've been having a ton of fun so far. Still on Act 1, which I've played a number of times during the beta, and I started a whole new character for this. I didn't jive with the Druid I made when the game released, which didn't help me keep playing. Now I have my classic "Dwarf with big sword" RPG character and I'm loving it.

  18. Truth is, sometimes... I could have lol. I used to have PCSX2 on my work laptop, but I mostly played Final Fantasy XII on it.
