DarkTone | 987
What was the first 18+ game you ever bought, for yourself? Mine was GTA2. Went straight to the shops after a day at collage. GTA is my favourite franchise and I was worried it sold out or I had no ID. Nope. No problems at all. What was yours?

I was 18 before the ratings system was ever put into practice. I've never even noticed it in terms of actually preventing someone underage from buying a game. How did that collage turn out? 1
Tanooki | 4,949
Same here. I started when the NES arrived and the lame ratings came later to Nintendo too. By the time the nanny brigade of Karen’s got their way things changed. Sorry I don’t fit the impact here as there was none. This seems to parallel the other about first adult ish gsme thread. My answer there but originally as old warez basically along with other megatech games. I even have their one non skanky title sealed no less PowerDolls which is like I guess advance wars with mechs.
fcgamer | 4,742
A multicart with Honey Peach on it. My buddy and I stayed up playing it one night while staying at his uncle's, the night before running a 5K.
RegularGuyGamer | 2,017
Technically I was 19 but it was the Resident Evil 5 that was in South Africa or that came out on the 360. I remember waiting in line for it at midnight for the launch and regretting not getting the limited edition console. I still love that red console, although I'm sure it's a RRoD waiting to happen. I think the other M games I got before that, I got used at the local game store never cared about M games for me.

Either you've perfected the art of the deadpan response, or that went over your head completely. But your post made my day, regardless... Oh, and to stay on topic, I asked my aunt to pick up a copy of Perfect Dark back in the '90's, and they told her it was an adult game and asked if I was over 17 before they would let her buy it. When she got to our place, she immediately told her sister (my Mom) that I had tried to get her to buy a pornographic game, and it was very difficult to convince either of them otherwise due to how little understanding their generation had regarding video games to begin with. It's funny to think back on it now, but it was a very shitty experience at the time...

a3quit4s | 4,124
I wanna say like True Crime Streets of LA or NY. My only system at the time was GameCube and I didn’t have any other of the popular MA releases.
WhyNotZoidberg | 586
I had to go check, and Turok on N64 has an M rating. So that's the one.
TDIRunner | 2,767
I don't remember if Mortal Kombat and Mortal Kombat II for SNES had ratings on them, but I bought both of those used from a friend at the same time. They were certainly the first mature games I ever bought regardless of rating. Outside of that, the first M rated game I know for sure that I purchased new would be PO'ed for the PS1. I had played it on a friends 3DO, and when I saw it for the PS1, I bought it right away.
