What games do you enjoy, but just can't seem to get good at?

Contra III is another one. I can beat both NES games on one life, but Contra III is borderline impossible for me, even with continues.

I'm the same as you.

I actually actually enjoy the NES Contra games the best because they're less frustrating for me than the 16-bit incarnations.

Until recently I would've added Super C to the list, but I did finally 1CC it just the other day.

I've always sucked at Life Force. It's great, but I'm no good at it. My pb is level 4. Maybe one of these days.

I'm awful at Gradius, but I made it through two and a half loops of Life Force on one life to finish second in the 2013 tournament. I think @rdrunner looped it eight times and quit out of boredom to take the championship.

Oh yeah, with regard to arcade games, I'm not good at Galaga despite having been a favorite for years. Same with many others such as Mr. Do, Shinobi and Raiden.

I beat the Twin Galaxies record for the arcade version of Galaga using the PS1 Namco Museum version back in the mid '90s. I'm pretty sure that record has been beaten several times since then.

Did you use the trick where enemies stop firing if you don't shoot for like ten minutes? I've never tried it.

I tried it once just to see if I could get it to work. I didn't use at the time I'm talking about because the Twin Galaxies rules obviously ban it.

Oh yeah I didn't even think about how that would have to be banned LOL. Good point.

As the contest proved, I'm incapable of submitting a competitive Tetris score, regardless of how hard I try.

Also, Super Mario Bros.  Bunch of damned savants around here when it comes to those two games.

I mean look at these fucking people!

For what it's worth, I won the 2020 SMB contest on here. I wish you were still doing the weekly contest career stats and hall of fame since the thread about @guillavoie and @ninjistar continuing it seemed to die off. I'm probably top 3 in all time wins by now if anyone was still keeping track. I wish @Gloves carried over the old contest icons even though I seem to be the only old guy still around.

Third place in the level 15 start contest, but Tetris is my favorite game. I've found that it takes many hours of practice. One of those games you can't learn in a week.

I wish it was too, but alas.

You did a great job with it. I would have loved to see the all time leaderboard carryover for some continuity. Same with the hall of fame that you and @Commander Santa started. I was legitimately honored to be in the first class and I wish Kevin (bimmy_lee) could be recognized along with @guillavoie and @rdrunner for all they have contributed especially since Bimmy didn't make the transition to VGS.

A crazy good score.  But look at the gap on arnpoly and Bea's 2017 scores.  Jesus, how in the f!  Gaming cyborgs.

I didn't think my involvement with the HoF was ever made public... someone talked.

Oh, right.  Inductees were added to the committee.  It's all coming back to me...

Way to out me Doug!

What happened to all of this @guillavoie ! 😂

It would be cool to see the old NA stats and Hall of Fame carried over by @Gloves or @guillavoie to motivate future contest participation. I've been playing since 2012 and as a Hall of Famer, I'd like to pass the torch eventually to a new group of players.
