  1. I definitely see your point. And I would imagine it depends on: a. How large a collection you have b. Where it is located in your place. c. How many guests come to your house d. How much you have spent on certain items and willingness to disclose that I have a small collection and a small amount of guests so it doesn't bother me too much, but I could see where it would become tiresome to talk about!
  2. This is a really interesting point and I'm curious how others feel. I would assume most of us are not ashamed, but we may not want to be judged or labeled by others due to our collections. Personally, I feel like this is who I am and I let it all hang out. I have Donkey Kong, Mario, Zelda and more stuff behind me in my Zoom background (I work from home and take lots of meetings). I play Dungeons & Dragons. I love having my game collection on display, and I love showing anyone my shelves (although they probably are not as excited about my DK Jr. Math as I am). Games are meant to be displayed (jk) I know some folks do not want to show off their collection to people due to safety concerns (lot of value there). And I believe @fcgamer that you play music, work, enjoy food...games are just a small part of who you are and not one thing defines you. I have plenty of other hobbies as well. Also, the people who come over to your place may have garages full of games and will just throw them away because they had no clue you would be interested in it. I tell everyone I know for that reason. But I do hear you. At this point in my life, IDGAF, this is me. And I celebrate other people's passion, if it makes you happy then have at it!
  3. What a great game. I'm a casual Niners fan, since my GF's Dad is a huge fan (and my hometown city doesn't have a team anymore). Should be a good game next Sunday.
  4. I actually just started my Excel sheet a few months ago (but I have been using the Retro Collector app for several years prior). I copy/pasted the data from the Retro Collector app into the spreadsheet, so when you click on each game in the spreadsheet it goes to Ebay listings. And granted I have less than 120 NES games now, I but I was able to remember lots of info and used old messages/emails and photos to get as much info as possible to fill in the gaps. I still don't have the slightest clue where I acquired some games. And there's a handful of games I either bought in college or had before high school. Would love to figure out that exactly, but no way to tell. Here's my part of my jank spreadsheet. Through my research (mainly from old OfferUp and Craigslist listings), there was an additional 100+ games that went through my hands at some point. Pretty cool to see all these details.
  5. Oooh yeah I remember I almost sold you my Mega Man 2. I sold my Zelda one when I was strapped for cash. Mega Man 2 is numbered out of 250 and came out in 2014, the first Moonshake release. Castlevania is numbered out of 666 Zelda is numbered out of 500 What a great feat to get all those plus the 10 or so other releases by Moonshake. My buddy has the Dr. Mario 7-Inch which is super cool.
  6. I used to be a vinyl DJ for a few years, lots of fun. At one point I amassed several crates: 1 hip-hop, 1 dub reggae, 1 rock/funk, 1 electronic and small case of 45s. Sadly the prices got out of hand and even the bargain bins began to be overpriced. I was always looking for something new. Currently I have some video game soundtracks w/ Streets of Rage 1-2 (Data Discs) and Golden Axe (Data Discs) not pictured, with the rest of my collection in storage or given away. I'll never forgot UnfortunateFace (Sean D) coming to NA to announce his Mega Man 2 record. He was so new, he wasn't sure about the fidelity of 8-bit soundtracks, so the tracks on that one are super short. Recently I saw his records ended up in a museum in Italy.
  7. I've been using Excel as well, and tracking where, when and how much I payed for a game. I think I got the formulas right but I found some cool stats like 13% of my games were purchased online, and only 8% I'm not completely certain where I got them. And I never paid more than $30 for a game over the last 10 years.
  8. Grading is crazy. Look at this video at 6:11. This Michael Jordan rookie card was labeled 'altered' by PSA but SGC graded it a 4 Crazy change in value. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=suYV-tUdFuw
  9. I have about 140 games total (121 NES with 9 CIB NES). I have 4 systems (NES both, PS2 silver slim, n64) I have 8-9 accessories for NES (Power Glove, ROB, Zapper etc.) I've been downsizing alot the last few years, focusing on all killer no filler! Feeling good.
  10. I saw this come up in a few threads. Let's see how VGS is looking! Feel free to use whatever metric you prefer: # of games, # of shelves, # of rooms , post photos etc.
  11. absolutely reminds me of the time I saw a guy selling a SMB/Duck Hunt for $50.
  12. In re: Slay the Spire. I love a good challenge. Gonna try to beat the heart, stay tuned. Not a lot of progress so far, but I'll keep trying.
  13. I think Slay the Spire could have been a bit better with a few changes. They def. need a few more enemy types, Act 1 is a bit of a slog now after going through it a few times. Imagine a huge giant, or an evil version of your self, or a merlin type character etc. More creative battles requiring more thinking. You see it a few times, but I think this was a missed opportunity. For example: A battle where you can use no relics (even for just a few turns) A battle where you can only pick to choose a few relics to use. A battle where you have to exhaust a card each turn. A battle that if you lose you get sent back down the spire a bit (or alternatively sent up the spire a bit) A battle where you gamble. Win and you upgrade a few cards, otherwise you lose those cards. A battle where curse cards transform into something good for a few turns. A battle where you start with 20-25 energy total, thats it. A battle where you can't use power cards for a few turns. A battle where blocked damage gets reflected back to the enemy and vice versa. Attack combos of 5 or more cards deal the cumulative damage again. A battle where potions are infinite. Obviously any idea should be playtested, but they could have added some elements so that Act 1 and sometimes Act 2 feel more unique. The one devil enemy that gains strength when you play an attack card is creative, and they should have leaned into those ideas more.
  14. Dredge. Engaging story, hardly any gameplay, and I missed the "good" ending due to an arbitrary reason. I probably have another game that meets this criteria, but this one came to mind first.
  15. I feel similar for sure! Definitely RNG dependent to get to the heart and to eventually beat it. The heart seems brutal, I've only made it there once. I did beat Act 3 with 3 out of the 4 characters and I hear the ending is the same when you beat the heart but I will do more research. Such a rush when you get a good run but yeah not sure if I can/will beat the heart. Definitely fun up until this point.
  16. I put it as a 9/10. At first, I was dissuaded due to the hype, and I waited awhile to play it. But about 1/2 way through the game I could see why it's awesome. It can be challenging, but it is doable. Checkpoints are generous, giving the "just one more try" mechanic like Super Meat Boy. Surprisingly great story. Awesome music. Lots of additional content if you want more of a challenge.
  17. For what it's worth, I played many seasons of Fifa/PES, beat GTA San Andreas, Shadow of the Colossus etc. using the cheap Amazon converter. Your mileage may vary.
  18. During COVID, I got a cheap converter off of Amazon and played tons of PS2 games on my HD TV. I'm sure the quality is not perfect, but for the price it has worked well for me. https://www.amazon.com/Converter-Amtake-Composite-Adapter-Supporting/dp/B07MJTR9KS/ref=sr_1_8?crid=LQKS3ZXNLD6W&keywords=ps2+to+hd&qid=1704910753&sprefix=ps2+to+h%2Caps%2C172&sr=8-8
  19. If somehow a 'cartridge-only' version becomes available, I will take it. Cool project!
  20. One of my favorite directors and the first 40 minutes or so of Full Metal Jacket is so good.

I would but a Famicom Star keeper cartridge as well. Great idea.
  22. I did some trade ins to Retro Respawn in LA (great store credit BTW) and got BB2 and DK Jr. Math for my NES collection.
