  1. GET THE EPISODE HERE: https://spotifyanchor-web.app.link/e/8RIP7PI1qtb Nick and Bart talk with Jordan Davis about adapting his NES game Space Raft for an arcade setting, and what it’s like to get a homebrew game published on the Nintendo Switch. 2. Thanks for the feedback! Thank you! Conor would probably want me to specify that he is Irish, but he has been based out of the UK since July. Just for you, I will try to come up with a comparison to a different Koei game for each episode! In all seriousness, of the three of us I'm the only one with long-term experience in the homebrew scene, so we actually talk about comparisons with other games quite a lot because that's how my co-hosts tend to approach these titles. With that said, I try to avoid pushing this aspect too hard when promoting episodes... I think a lot of developers work hard to make sure their games can stand on their own merits, and I feel like it detracts from that work to only showcase it in light of other, more popular games. Why, you can get one of those beauties right here! They are quite sturdy and the print is surprisingly good quality. I recommend hand wash only: https://www.zazzle.com/store/homebrewgameclub
  3. Check out our new episode on the NES puzzle platformer Alfonzo's Arctic Adventure! There's also a long conversation about the odd regional cuisine of St. Louis, Missouri, with an emphasis on pizza. You know, if you're into that.
  4. GET THE PODCAST HERE: https://spotifyanchor-web.app.link/e/ZZDcFQJATsb Bart, Conor, and Nick head to the tundra with Alfonzo’s Arctic Adventure, a puzzle platformer for the NES. There’s also a lengthy debate about the ethics of using save states on emulated games, and an even longer, highly skippable (but hopefully entertaining) examination of the regional cuisine of Saint Louis, Missouri and its notoriously divisive pizza. 7. Not a great pic, but this is in fact from the ending credits for Pocky and Rocky: Reshrined.
  8. I believe physical CIBs are shipping soon for Kickstarter backers. Looking forward to mine... I love the dual cart idea.
  9. I got the sense that the dash and the melee attack were both key to managing the difficulty, but as I say in the podcast episode I never quite managed to get over that hump. Maybe with another 5-10 hours I could have gotten there. Very nice 1cc btw, I am in awe.
  10. Oops... I forgot to post a blog entry for our latest episode, Xeno Crisis! Please enjoy listening to how this intense twin-stick shooter for the Genesis absolutely kicked our asses.

  12. Well that was fun. @Infitekbested me but at least I lost respectably that time. Thanks @Jeevan and @RogerBidon for hosting, and good luck to everyone still in it!
  13. Beat Cotton Fantasy (aka Cotton Rock ‘n Roll) with every unlockable character at least once. Very fun cute ‘em up that might be even better than Cotton Reboot.
  14. I don't have screenshots, but I've gotten several endings in Deathsmiles I + II, which is getting a NA physical release later this month (although I thought it came out already so I'm not sure if I've got the dates wrong).
  15. Just added a short episode covering Diamond Thieves, a new puzzle platformer for Genesis and Mega Drive. If you haven't heard, this game is being published through a collaboration between Mega Cat Studios and Video Game Sage. Thanks to @Scrobins for the review copy!

  19. Hi all -- after some delays, our Space Raft episode should be on the way later this week. In the meantime, check out this interview we did with Hair of the Dogcast at the 2022 Midwest Gaming Classic! This was a fun, short talk about homebrews, podcasting, and our first time at MGC. You can get the audio version here.
  20. Thanks @Optomon! Glad you're enjoying the show.

  23. Oh, ha. I was mostly joking about the profanity. I don't care either way and I'm certainly not worked up about it, but as a profane person myself I thought it was funny that this was something people are specifically concerned about. I'm also backing the project regardless.
  24. "English swear words have been removed due to some complaints" Can we have a kickstarter level where the curse words get added back in?
