  1. Got a pile of strategy guides in good shape for $155 shipped: Everything was well taken care of, almost all are Nintendo Power, and the Pokemon guide has all 150 stickers untouched! The real surprise here are the Mario 64 and Mario Sunshine guides, those have shot up in price since 3D All Stars came out. Also my brother found my old Next Generation magazines and some of his old NP’s and some other stuff: Finally, someone in a Facebook group alerted me to a junk lot of DS games from Canada that happened to have a gem in the mix: I didn’t even know before this month that there was a Zenses Zen Garden. I always thought the series just had Rainforest and Ocean. There’s some other games in this lot I like, such as The Price is Right and Broken Sword. Condition is not great but I will clean up what I can and let go of the rest.
  2. I'm not sure what exactly people are using as the threshold here, but my question is, did Nintendo still have the manufacturing to print the carts for Beauty and the Beast? Because my understanding is Nintendo always does the manufacturing for games on their consoles. Tengen, Wisdom Tree and a few other publishers managed to print some carts themselves, and there's obviously disagreement on how those are categorized in these discussions (I don't think people count Wisdom Tree Game Boy games as part of a full set), but the point is that there are official authentic components that go into carts (the PCBs, shells, and labels) and packaging, which all come from Nintendo, and anything printed on other components, or modifying an official cart with a different PCB, is "bootleg" or "reproduction." So Beauty and the Beast must have been a licensed release with Nintendo, right? I mean it has the SoQ on the label... Similarly, Vblank just did a print of Retro City Rampage and Shakedown Hawaii for Wii. Nintendo had already ceased production of Wii games for North America at the time Vblank approached them but there was a small window left to print them for Europe. So Vblank had the games printed for Europe. These are official games from the Nintendo factory, even though the Wii is not being made anymore. You might remember prior to this the most recent Wii game (also an official print) was Just Dance 2020 with a standard retail release.
  3. I found a version of LEGO Harry Potter Years 1-4 that has a DVD of Sorcerer’s Stone in a DVD case packed with it. The two cases are wrapped with a cardboard collar. Says “COKeM international” on the back. Not PAL, it’s ESRB. Anyone know anything about this variant? I know there’s a common one with two discs in a single Wii case but this is different.
  4. No of course not, just like the Mega Man X repro from iam8bit doesn’t count for anything.
  5. I have a thread about this The moment LRG announced the re-release I think the effect was priced in. The price of a loose cart has come down (from over $800 to under $600) but as far as I can tell a CIB Shantae is still going for over $2k. Seems like the hype around the whole series is still making the original desirable enough for high end collectors.
  6. View Advert Final Fantasy GBA bundle All 4 games 100% complete. Contents are mint, boxes have wear. Price is shipped in CONUS. Advertiser MiamiSlice Date 10/09/2020 Price $240.00 Category FS / FO / FT
  7. Managed to get the Zelda and Super Mario Maker edition 2DS's in the short period that they were restocked on the Nintendo store! Also nabbed a refurbished NES Classic Edition (I already have one but it's the retail one and it's still sealed... wanted to keep that as a backup). It seems silly to think that getting things for MSRP is a "steal" but when these are hard to find now and go for more on the bay... well, good enough?
  8. Your comment prompted me to read about all the pedigrees in comic books. Then I saw a FB post from a guy who shipped a bunch of games to Wata who said that some of his games were identified to be part of the Hawaii collection. So I read up on that too: https://www.watagames.com/learn/blog/post/the-hawaii-collection-the-singer-collection/ This is actually pretty cool. And I know the Carolina thing felt forced but I do think Dain has enough notoriety that it makes sense. I mean we all know who he is just on his first name. I don’t doubt there are other bigger collections out there that will eventually make the Carolina set seem quaint but whatever.
  9. Xenoblade rewards have been restocked as of 3 hours ago. Finally nabbed a phone ring!
  10. I don't think so. Some games were sold in North America and Canada with a single box art that had both English and French text on the ESRB label.
  11. Right, the Shantae’s just sold alongside Doom 64 are the original and Risky’s Revenge and reprint of Half Genie Hero
  12. Yep. Weren’t all those games VGA graded and they cracked and re-graded them under Wata?
  13. This actually made me angry. Did you see the back label? Offensive.
  14. Yeah those pins are shot. The Isopropyl is helping form a connection when it's wet like you said and when it evaporates the connection is lost again. Same reason blowing into the cartridge seems to work (because the vapor in your breath makes the contacts wet [but don't do this because the salt in your saliva is very corrosive]). I don't know if this can be repaired, maybe someone has tried bridging these contacts.
  15. Amazon had a lightning deal on this Zelda themed messenger bag for the Switch, was ~$17. It’s big. As wide as my chair.
  16. This cart isn’t mint but in this condition I think it would have gone for $800 before the LRG reprint was announced.
  17. They are ESRB rated too. If you are going for a complete North America set, “it has an ESRB label and a USA cart” is basically the required criteria among Switch collectors.
  18. After 9 months of hunting I finally landed this in a trade, complete with the trading card! Got all this in a local trade: Some Facebook finds: This marks the first KR region game in my collection! Got these in trades right here on VGS: Got my first My Nintendo physical rewards in: some DS trash at $1 each: (but Wireway is actually a gem) Picked up a couple Switch CE’s: Finally bit on these at $15 each retail: And a couple more random pickups: (DK Land was from my recent eBay haul of GB games, I managed to find the missing manual via a trade!)
