  1. I voted 7 for Tha Crossroads and a 10 for Regulate. Regulate is so much funkier and more fun.
  2. No cheat codes unless they're in the manual is part of the rules. The rules could be changed next year or at some point, but those are the current rules. I would recommend using warps if you're trying to 1cc Kung Fu Heroes. No sense completing every stage unless you're really into that game. Most of the difficulty is at the end anyway. EDIT: I remember one year that The Mexican Runner's completion of Kung Fu Heroes was disqualified because he used continues. TMR still considered it legit for Nesmania because he figured out how to continue for himself and nobody told him nor did he look it up. TMR beat other games such as Ikari Warriors without using any cheats.
  3. A few years ago I made a real attempt to beat Kung Fu Heroes without continues and gave up after two weeks. The difficulty near the end is brutal.
  4. When I beat Karnov last year I figured out that you can really exploit the fact that you retain your items after game over. Makes it very easy to farm.
  5. I can barely make out some words/phrases. It looks like it's about the possibility of epileptic seizures in a very small percentage of the population. EDIT: Wizard beat me to it!
  6. Agree. 1943 is another one that deserves to be played to completion or as far as you can go. I'm glad we had normal rules for it last year.
  7. Dust and grime can cause unresponsiveness but I don't think they increase stiffness which has to do with the materials themselves and might loosen up with use.
  8. Batman has a great soundtrack as is expected from Sunsoft. See also Blaster Master and Journey to Silius. I love the use of colors. It has a dark and gritty atmosphere that is not so common for a NES game. It just feels good to play, especially the wall jump mechanic once you get the knack for it. One of the earliest games I can think of that uses wall jumping. Infinite continues and being able to farm health and ammo makes it very beatable. But once you get good then you won't need to abuse these aspects. The only real negatives I can think of are that scoring is a joke and so are all those B's you pick up. The game might as well not even have a score. And there's a bit of a delay when you jump which takes some getting used to. Other than those nitpicks it's an easy 10.
  9. Get good at farming the enemies that drop from the ceiling. That will definitely help you in beating it.
  10. If diagonals are tough to hit due to stiffness then that stiffness can decrease over time with use. This is my experience with NES dpads.
  11. 10. It's in my top 10 NES games. I've beaten it deathless.
  12. Probably my second favorite MJ song after Billie Jean. An easy 10/10.
  13. 1111 I don't care about either Linkin Park or Bring Me The Horizon but I had to pick something.
  14. As long as his commentary isn't full of factual errors then that's just a matter of preference.
  15. Interesting. What is an example of "garbage commentary" from Summoning Salt?
  16. This is probably my favorite Summoning video and a wonderful introduction to him.
  17. Speedrunning is very competitive for classic games such as Super Mario Bros. and Mike Tyson's Punch-Out, and they keep coming up with new strats. Check out Summoning Salt's Youtube channel if you haven't already.
  18. Oh yeah. She got away with that, but I think she'd sound ridiculous singing something like Stairway.
  19. I don't recall ever hearing Joan Jett sing a ballad. As it is, I can't even imagine her singing Stairway. Maybe Black Dog or Rock n Roll.
  20. I voted 10 because of course it's a great song, but I personally never need to hear it again.
  21. I saw someone stream the entire game on Twitch and it looks like a parody of repetitive beat em ups. In that respect they nailed it if it's intentional parody.
