  1. If Taiwan was anything like Thailand in the late 80's/90's they didn't really have chain stores that sold electronics and there was little to no regulation as to what was allowed to be sold. Legit licensed stuff was sold in the same store as hacks/bootlegs and modded systems. I think Dave is simply saying that at that time just getting your well-made bootleg on the shelf in multiple places was enough of an accomplishment to be considered 'sold at retail' - even though that same scenario wasn't available in the west.
  2. I have several Hong Kong games (not Mah Jong unfortunately)...and I've never opened one. Until now! Granted, one would actually have to open a real Mah Jong to be sure, but at least this is some evidence pointing in the 72 direction.
  3. Just buy this! I had a friend with one of these way back when and I remember it being pretty cool at the time.
  4. Does that mean we have come to the conclusion that since the board only works in a NTSC U machine, but the box style is PAL - it's a hybrid that is needed to complete BOTH sets?
  5. Sorry to hear this happened. I have had several positive transactions with Ingo over the years and am inclined to believe his response that he was scammed too. Sucks all around to have scammers in our hobby.
  6. Any car that is used as a battering ram during a robbery is stolen.
  7. I don't know of any actual completed sales, but CIB copies seem to always be listed for 2K plus. This one was recently posted on Facebook.
  8. That's a picture of the only known sealed copy. I agree that somewhere, someone has a CIB copy. I just find it odd that nobody has ever taken a picture of one and shared it online in some way - especially if there are 4 graded CIBs out there. Nobody has even claimed to know someone who has one which is what makes that pop report fishy.
  9. Looks like the "PRINTED IN JAPAN" was actually a stamp - check out this diagonal one: https://www.ebay.com/itm/234727847295
  10. So, I've had this poster for a while. The whole time I had assumed it was a promotional poster meant for stores. Then I took a look at the DW III registration card - the measurements are the same - so does this mean that this is the mail away poster on the card - and therefore 1 of 450? If so, that's pretty neat. If this isn't the mail away poster - then where did it come from? If it is the poster, has anyone seen the DW III poster?
  11. That's an interesting take. I also have a copy of the purple Capcom variant with a gold sticker under the Playtronic back label and I always wondered why. If your theory is correct then at some point in time a Playtronic factory worker was sitting next to a garbage bin filled to the brim with discarded Purple boxes and manuals. At the end of his shift he wheeled it out to the dumpster and threw them all away....sigh.
  12. I know exactly who I sold it to. They are a member here and I contact them from time to time to make sure it's safe and sound. It's been in storage since I sold it to them and I'm first on the list if they ever decide to sell. @Ferris Bueller has a CIB if you're looking for some flap pics (Which I'd like to see too)
  13. There have been a few sales in the last 6 months in the 1000-2000 range. That IS a nice copy, but I don't think it's worth that much yet (In the future? Who knows) The copies with US backs aren't worth any more than the Playtronic backed ones, simply because there is no way to prove they aren't back swapped. If you had a USA-back with the USA manual, then now you're talking a serious value increase.
  14. Here is another: https://www.ebay.com/itm/334698424624 All NES games released/sold in Brazil via official channels will have the Playtronic back sticker on them. I have had several of these over the years. I have only had two that didn't have the back sticker - both were acquired in USA and were either back swaps or copies that never made it to South America.
  15. I wouldn't take their pop reports too seriously, under loose Capcom MM6 they have 0 listed....yet they have graded some loose carts for sure. This pic is from Facebook in March - Pop report is from Dec 2022...
  16. I find it hard to believe that there are 4 Purple Capcom MM6 CIBs that have been graded when (as far as I know) there are ZERO known CIB copies. Several loose carts, something like 3-5 manuals and one sealed copy is all that has surfaced. Anyone ever seen a CIB? If these exist surely someone has shared a pic somewhere.
  17. Were you aware it was a variant? What did you sell it for?
  18. Here are mine, I think I'm only missing the Hong Kong version to complete the "orange box" set. Taiwan was the hardest of the 3 I have to get.
  19. Doesn't @Hollywoodcaddyhave one of these? Have you opened it up yet?
  20. How does a entire region's games get tightly controlled in the used/collectable market? I can understand a certain title, but ALL of them? Are you implying that some sort of group bought up all the stock in the late 90s/early 2000s and is simply sitting on it and not selling?
  21. Now that was a good deal! I think I got my first one - Ice Hockey in 2012 for something like $20, the most expensive one was Kid Icarus which I got about 5 years ago for $170. I think Dr. Mario was 120, Cobra Triangle was 40 all bought around the same time. Most recent addition was Mike Tyson, which I got on Ebay for $100 earlier this year.
  22. Nice! I might be interested in Ghosts and Goblins and Blaster Master if you ever sell. Here is my collection - including the ugliest Cobra Triangle I've ever seen (also the only Cobra Triangle I've ever seen)
  23. I've been casually collecting Korean NES games for about 10 years now - casually in that I would get one if the price was not crazy. There haven't been very many online sales to go on, so pricing them will be hard. Some of them have only ever been seen in ads, so they could command a pretty high premium. The Zeldas should easily be 1000+ each, others much less. Are you looking to sell? Do you have a list of what you have?
