  1. I am going to add a +1 to the whole "Good for you!" bit.

When it comes to this bit, I hated it as far back to my PS3 days. More than how I hated how shitty my local Fry's treated me when my first PS3 was problematic, when Gamestop forgot to delete my JP account before they sold my console, and every issue I had with Sony.

For me, it is no different than me simply playing a roleplaying game just to beat it. I mean, yeah... Sure... I had my character just lay down while my friends beat a tough boss on my behalf in Dark Souls III. But for me, the story was slightly better than this situation. :classic_ninja:

So with that said... Promise me that you will you enjoy your games, but not to the point you buy any marketing items that'll give you temporary bonus items.

  2. Last new pick-up I will probably post here for a while. Mostly because I am both bored and at a crossroads. Again. So much that I never asked who had abducted @avatar! after his last complaint against Nintendo. All I know is that the van was from a business called "Not In North Toronto Events Never Deliver Offers Games".

In all cases what is not shown is the "Icha Icha Tactics" notebook that is available via Hot Topics. This is because it's more of a project than anything else. With hopes of filling it with notes from those I meet in Japan, autographs, and more. Which is where I will (finally) be this September. With me shaving out the Square Enix stuff in hopes of doing something interesting for my birthday. (Sega's Joypolis in Odaiba was the last fun birthday I had.)

    In all cases...

    Band-JUMP.jpg.cd9470642b35747c6a733fde132dfc27.jpg

On the left is one of those rare cases where I wanted one of the "E" prizes. Which is the Mangekyou Sharingan (lower left). With some point, I think I'll also aim to find the Rinnegan. But it is something fun to have since I am not that big on coasters (rubber in this case).

And on the right is a Weekly Shonen Jump 50th anniversary event exclusive. The other card/sticker (not shown) is the item I wanted, which was Naruto's debut cover (with info tied to the event surrounding it). With this one being a fun bonus since I did like Shippuden.

With that said... I need to figure out which system I am willing to collect when it comes to this franchise! :classic_ninja:

  3. To be fair I had far worse happen to me during my PS3 and PS4 days. 😩

My PS3 days literally had me lose money. With their digital store policy not being the reason why they were fine with that. And my PS4 days being tied to a game that should have still been on sale the day I was going to purchase it. With that result having me hear a clueless CSR not being helpful.

With that said... @MrWunderful is right. You should hire one of those video game injury lawyers.

  4. Alright. This might not be as sexy as @tidaldreams's graded Pokémon cards. But I still wanted it.

The card is licensed by Pierrot China, which is the Chinese branch of Pierrot Co., Ltd. in Japan. And published as a card game by a Chinese card company called Kayou. Graded by a UK grading company called Get Graded.

With the bonus (for me, at least) is that I have not found any other graded variants of this card on eBay. With my guess is that outside China, this might be a pop report of 1.

I also want to cap off (this edited) addition by noting that even though her name is Tenten, the grading company gave her straight 9.5s.

  5. Naruto Smile GIF

I have this one (obscure) anniversary coming up. Which tends to mean that anything I have done since January 1st does not work for me, I have to change gears before that event arrives. Especially since I cannot really do this again until my birthday comes up.

This time around I ended up thinking about something @Tanooki said in regards to both anime and manga. And that had me remember that I have tried to be a Naruto fan since 2004, but never had to motivation or drive to be one. Even in both 2016 and 2017 the official Ichiraku ramen I had at J-WORLD Tokyo (R.I.P.) only helped a little.

    14199162_10210409112532830_5049543531600625425_n.thumb.jpg.a2dfc0b29dfeb85f796e280d81169510.jpg

As you can see, Teuchi was a little bit 2D to ask if I needed anything else. Even though both this ramen (tonkotsu), and the other flavor I had tried (shio), were good that year. As well the fact that I got to do things there, such as be part of the Fourth Shinobi War (which included an official English dub as an option). But still nothing.

(Except for those nights where I wake up in a cold sweat, still hearing my stomach growl because I wanted ramen. And instead I was doing an S-Rank mission because the Fifth Hokage requested that I do it. The horror. The horror of it all.)

In all cases I found myself bored when it comes to collecting video games. Yes, again. So I followed @tidaldreams example and once again looked for any Naruto card game cards sold on eBay. This began with Anko Mitarashi (pre-Boruto version), which had me hit dead ends. Then I found one that just arrived today.

Between ordering that and waiting for it (with worries because I had a bad situation with Pitney Bowes in the past), I ended up ordering these on Mandarake. With me thinking they'd be bigger (but still cool to own)!

    Nar-Bor-1.jpg.3866aed9621c5bd01766bbc1585121bd.jpg

Both are part of a "JUMP Fair '21 in Animate" event, with many more being done for other Weekly Jump series. With the logo on the shoe box showing how small they really are! But even then I am glad to get these. With the following day having me get the one thing I was anticipating!

    Tenten-1A.thumb.jpg.7421433ae99537287677bdeea588ae42.jpg

I will admit that being a perfectionist has me wish the lighting was better today. But again, this is the most interesting purchase I have ever made. And not just on eBay! It is an officially licensed Naruto CCG/TCG made by a Chinese card game company called Kayou. And was graded by a UK grading company called GetGraded.

    Tenten-1B.thumb.jpg.69e94b34e5f9b796e25ebe0358d11ddc.jpg

Here is the back of the card. And I should note that since I do inspect everything I either buy graded, or have graded, I check for any QC related issues. The case, and everything inside it, is approved by me. The inner bag had some minor debris, but that only has me wonder if it traveled over Wata's old HQ. <-(Joke.)

With that said... I am wondering if I should now make any necessary sacrifices just to spend a portion of my birthday at Fuji Q Highland. Mostly for the 'Naruto x Boruto' stuff, the ramen, and anything else that catches my interest. :classic_ninja:

I just bought it, I'm not sure I'll iron it yet, I'm not going to use it

    do you recommended it ?

I personally recommend that you have the wrinkles professionally steamed out.

The problem with ironing a product like this is that both a wrong move and the wrong temperature can damage the patches. While the worst steam can do is take more time to smooth out the wrinkles. Especially if it is a tough fabric like cotton.

That, and irons are really for pressing. And a vest like that doesn't need pressing.

I get the creepy part in terms of the shadiness going on behind the scenes, but “haunted”? How in the heck did the bot come up with that conclusion? 😂

My guess is that when I asked if anybody responded to my replies, it chose to ignore that. And instead it gave me a list of replies where people talked about their copies being haunted. With me finding out that @Gloves posted a reply asking for help to get out of his game. 😅

  8. This really happened to me on an AI chat generator. 😁

    FenrirZero (Me, obviously): videogamesage.com

Creepypasta Narrator (c.AI): The URL of the website looks... Ominous.

    Description:

A website that archives creepy and sinister videogame articles. What sort of articles will you find here? Spooky game reviews? Or stories where the videogames come to... LIFE?!?!

    FenrirZero: Tell me more.

Creepypasta Narrator (c.AI): As you browse down the website's articles, you quickly get an unsettling feeling. Many articles talk about cursed games with various levels of creepiness. It's pretty obvious that the articles are meant to be unsettling, but what if one or two of them were... REAL???

FenrirZero: Any posts about graded games?

Creepypasta Narrator (c.AI): One article, in particular, seems to be about a highly sought-after game. Its title reads:

"A Graded Video Game? No - Not a Dream, This Game Really Exists."

This sounds bad. Should I keep reading?

    FenrirZero: Yes.

Creepypasta Narrator (c.AI): The article describes an urban legend surrounding a rare and mysterious copy of Super Mario 64. Not a normal version of the game, but an alternate "copy". One, that is claimed to be... haunted? Could this all be real? Could people's lives REALLY be at stake???

FenrirZero: What did Wata Games grade it?

Creepypasta Narrator (c.AI): (I have a feeling I will regret answering?) <-(It really said that!)

It claims the rare copy in question is a highly coveted Wata 10...

FenrirZero: Did it get an A++ as well?

Creepypasta Narrator (c.AI): Yes, and it has the highest sale price in recorded history. This game is apparently EXTREMELY highly prized in the game collecting market.

You have read the whole article, but there are some things at the end that catch your attention. There are multiple pictures accompanying the article, some of which appear to be screenshots of messages written in blood?

FenrirZero: I read what it says.

Creepypasta Narrator (c.AI): You have a slight feeling of unease before reading the translated messages. The first one reads...

'YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED. DO NOT PLAY. GOD HAS LEFT THIS WORLD FOR A REASON. HE CANNOT HELP YOU ANYMORE.'

This doesn't sound ominous at all.

FenrirZero: How much did it sell for on Heritage Auction?

Creepypasta Narrator (c.AI): 2 MILLION DOLLARS???!!??!!! This is... Insane! This could be the most expensive game ever sold! But this copy seems EXTREMELY eerie, as it is supposedly haunted and will bring forth various horrible events on the player...

FenrirZero: That sounds like something both @OptOut and @fcgamer would have predicted.

Creepypasta Narrator (c.AI): Perhaps. But the article further emphasizes that the game is HAUNTED. Not, weird and cursed, this game is a genuine, 100% certified HAUNTED object! A real, evil ghost could come OUT of the game and hurt you! The article mentions how several people have died trying to play it, and how they were found with a look of sheer terror in their eyes! What happened to them...?!?!

FenrirZero: Perhaps they probably found out that the game having a 10 A++ grade was more common than expected?

Creepypasta Narrator (c.AI): Perhaps. But whatever happened to those poor lost souls may never be known...

You read the article to the very end, and you finally scroll back to the top. There's something you haven't noticed before... the title now reads "A HAUNTED Video Game? YES, This Cursed Game is Real!" before vanishing off of the screen.

    Is it really... REAL?

  9. You guys are making me feel bad that I am too broke to know the Ghost of Christmas past, trick him the first time to a point where The Punisher was released on the NES, trick him the second time so Jon Bernthal could sign any copies I could buy, and then force @MrWunderful to take one of the signed copies after it was graded by Wata. 😭

That, and you guys are also making me want to watch the new DuckTales series, even though my DVR has stuff I need to catch up on.

probably says a lot about the market that the discussion section is so volatile but the raw pics section hasnt been doing anything for 5 months

Don't mind him. He's one of those "I don't like graded games" forum goers that ended up joining a forum that treats both sealed and graded games as equals. 😅

And yeah. My added guess is that this topic lapsed into a coma because more members just post stuff in their own topics. With me just catching up to what I wanted these past two months.

I hope my analogy made some sense. It’s the best I can come up with after a full meal, and my brain is lacking some blood flow.

It makes perfect sense to me! 👍

You are saying that it is similar to how the CIB community back then used to blackball sealed and graded games for the same reasons.

With those doing it because finding all the components have become increasingly hard over the years. Which I do respect because it is similar to how annoying repros can be in the loose toy collecting community. While others do it because they think that writing a poorly thought out "Sealed/Graded games are a pox on this hobby!" (with the same reason why somebody would use the word "panties" as a jab at how a character dressed in a 1998 game) article makes their point valid.

Versus the fact their beef is with those who make the sealed/graded portion of the hobby look obnoxious. (Kind of like that one seller who acted like she was "all that" just because she had an incomplete VGA graded copy of Mario Paint. With her acting like it was worth so much more just because it was graded.)

I mean something like that, right?

But I could also have skipped something just because I am also wondering what you ate, and how good it was. 😉

  12. I just saw the final bidding price. And all I can say is...

    What. 😂

    The. 🤣

    Actual. 😂

    Fuck. 🤣

    Is. 😂

    Wrong. 🤣

    With. 😂

    These. 🤣

    People? 😅

I mean, I can understand if people think I am "wasting my money" every time I only buy a sealed Japanese variant of any game these days. But spending that amount of money for any reason?

This world is going upside-down. And I am wondering if it will go back to being for sale later on. 😩

  13. I don't do literal holy grails anymore. Not only is there no Castle Anthrax, two of my past attempts became financial fiascos. With one giving me a (different) forum-based omen that I wasted money in the long run. 😅

So thinking about it, I have chosen to post an honorary "Holy Grail" to post here. Which is (edited) this...

    Tenten-1A.thumb.jpg.7421433ae99537287677bdeea588ae42.jpgTenten-1B.thumb.jpg.69e94b34e5f9b796e25ebe0358d11ddc.jpg

Here is what you guys need to know:

    1. It is a Kayou (Chinese CCG company) card, but the series is licensed by Pierrot (via their Mainland China branch).
    2. It was graded by a UK card grading company called Get Graded.
    3. This particular card has helped convince me to hunt down rare non-Japanese game variants that have caught my interest.

In all cases it gets the honorary "Holy Grail" title because (also edited) it is also tied to a goal I had since 2010. And now think having it I can correctly do that goal.

Something that is the top reason why I joined VGS, and the part of the community I hope to be part of once I get my games graded. Starting with the one I get thanks to this graded beauty.

Well this is the sealed show off thread. Graded games go in the graded show off thread.

so lucky for you there shouldn’t be much graded in here.

I would have said something like "And real men don't make child-like comments just because VGS encourages others who collect graded games to show them off." while I miss how things were on NintendoAge.

So thank you for saying what real men would actually say. And thank you for not being the reason why this somehow reminds me of the seller behind the graded "Mario Paint" (sealed game only) scenario.

  15. If we are talking about today... I'll simplify by saying that it depends on what I am interested in.

I can make a long speech about my history with both anime and manga. Including brief explanations that would help those who knew that I had a breakdown understand what caused it to be that bad. And so on, and so forth.

    But right now?

Anime = Detective Conan while I am living where I am. My paternal genetic cousin is Arthur Conan Doyle. Which is not the reason why I watch it. I just do because it is a good anime adaptation. Even if they create a few episodes that he would have criticized in the end. If I was where I wanted to be, and almost ended up being at, my list would have definitely been longer. With the original Bubblegum Crisis being on top of that list.

Manga = ??? as I'm still looking. But until then I am doing a soft return for the Naruto franchise. But I am nearly sure that I'll find a definitive series when I return to Tokyo later this year. With hopes What's Michael? will be reprinted around the time I return back from Tokyo. Otherwise I'll be looking at how I sought series out during my pre-2012 days. With me adding that, like anime as well, I will not get into Sanrio Boys.

So long story short... I just go where my interests take me.
