I'm convinced the buyers on there don't even look at ebay. Stuff will sell on Heritage for multiple times what copies on ebay have been sitting around for months at. On the other side, I see rare games that I think would get a lot of interest bring a fraction of what I had guessed they would.

I was thinking of something like that last night when I compared eBay prices to a few Yahoo! Auction prices. The latter had some sellers offering a promotional variant poster for the Compile Shadowrun (Mega-CD) game. They had those around $60. The one being sold on eBay is $266.99. The game itself, CIB, is more than double on eBay as well. But yeah... I guess the eBay end of things is a Rod Sterling short of being similar to the Twilight Zone.

That GoW auction was the dumbest thing I've seen in 2020 and that's saying a lot. People with money that have no idea what they're doing. A fan of the game would know it was a lousy second printing. A speculator would have no clue and therein lay the issue.

That is the one big thing I don't like about VGA or WATA Games. They don't mark a first press/print games as such. It annoys me because people are not always going to know the difference. In this case it is the security sticker. And in more recent cases it's going to be a sticker that says the game has bonus content. But for me it matters more to see that than have the game include a "archival" sticker. Because if they can note an error copy, seam-type, etc. then they should do this for first press/print games as well.

That one's a Sage original. Just a few weeks old.  I used to rock the Mr. Burns on the NAge.

That's the one! I remembered telling somebody about your greetings shortly after I joined. They told me that alone made NA a keeper for me. 😆

Lol damn! I actually liked it a lot! xD

I tried to. But I think the manga was what made it hard for me to enjoy. Then again I also stopped playing the 3DS version of Ocarina of Time for a similar reason. 😅

  3. Here is me during a Dragon Quest Monsters: Super Light event Square Enix held in Akihabara. This was taken in a few days after my birthday in 2016.

And no... I did not wear the Legend of Zelda t-shirt for that event. It was purely coincidental. Even though some might be "outraged" for their own reasons. 😁

  4. The only fail I can offer is partially my fault. But has me question why they never spell-checked before making the label.

Case in point: Dragon Quest XI

If you look up "Dragon Quest XI CBCS" you will see my original copy in Google's image section. You will also see "Sugisarishi" be "Sugi Sarishi". I found out this was incorrect after they emailed me the final grade. But I did not realize they used my use of the word when I finally received the game.

And when it comes to being nit picky they did not make any reference to the game. Even with a "With Offer" or something like that would have helped differentiate said first print from later prints. But again, that is me being nit picky since I like knowing the difference when it comes to their U.S. graded games.

  5. Sorry for the poor lighting. I am limited in terms of space right now. 😅

    - The NES Coasters were bought at Kohls. It was my mandatory X'mas gift shopping season and decided to get something for myself. Chose the nicest packaging they had to offer, but have not opened to see how they look. Plus they are too small to submit to WATA Games. So I will not find out until I finally get my own place.

    - The Dragon Quest Inn keyholder was something I ordered through AmiAmi. I think I ordered it with some other items last year. But I might be wrong.

    - The Weekly Jump Pirates Club telecards are technically a complete set. In this case these are the only three characters they did for Dragon Quest IV. And based on any info I can find they only covered the Famicom era of Dragon Quest games. So I have no idea if they did anybody else other than these, the Hero (DQ3), and the game covers.

The last set took me two months to complete, with Solo (Male Hero) popping up a month later below what I was willing to pay. All three came from Mandarake.

UPDATE: Got rid of my non-Capcom and non-Nintendo games so I could create a more streamlined collection.

  6. So where shall I start? I guess in the beginning.

Since December, 2011 I have been aiming to start a serious collection. This is because prior to me winning my SSI case I did not have the opportunity to seriously collect anything. And as I must admit the first mistake I made was not thinking about getting back into video games.

That is an 8 year mistake I hope to not do again.

When it comes to my personal history with video games, it begins in the pre-Nintendo era. But my favorite moments are tied to Japanese exclusive events.

As for collecting... I plan to do this in phases. And right now I am focusing on Japanese releases, starting with those with cyberpunk-related content.

With that said... Feel free to ask me anything (as long as it is not about that thing). I'll try to respond ASAP. And thank you for helping me be part of your forum. 🎮
