Great topic. I have a definite #1 moment that's stood for 28 years, and it will never be topped. 3. Probably the most fun single moment I ever had playing a game was when Bayonetta "clicked" and I suddenly understood dodge offset. When I tell people about this moment, I always say it was the closest feeling a game has ever given me to riding a motorcycle at 130 mph. 2. I beat my favorite game, Ninja Gaiden Black, on the highest difficulty without dying or buying any healing items. Too many moments from that one game to narrow it down to one for this list. Video here. 1. No one ever believes me when I tell this story but I swear on my right nut it's true. I think I was about 8 years old, I was playing Tecmo Super Bowl and I was in the Super Bowl, playing as the Chiefs against the 49ers (I was always the Chiefs). San Francisco scores to take the lead with just a few seconds left in the 4th. When they kickoff, there's not enough time for me to catch it and run out of bounds so I can get a hail mary off before the clock runs out, so I HAVE TO RUN THIS KICK BACK FOR A TOUCHDOWN or I lose the Super Bowl. And I fucking did it. I went crazy, lost my damn mind bouncing around my room. Returning kicks for touchdowns in TSB is no joke, how many have you ever done? Like 3? I think I've only done it like 3 times ever. Honorable mention: -Mr. Perfecting Mega Man 9 and 10 on normal mode. -Christmas 96 getting the N64 and playing SM64 on our big screen with the whole family watching. -Seeing Hyrule Field in OoT for the first time. -Finding a group of guys in college that liked to get high, listen to music and play Smash 64 just like I did. -Watching my dad beat Zelda 2. I was too young to actually remember this moment, but my sisters insist it happened and that I was there watching it too lol. He doesn't play games, not before or since, and he beat Zelda 2 without Nintendo Power and before the internet. Pretty impressive!
  2. Caught em slippin! Found a Tecmo NBA N7 that's mintier than the one I had, plus it came with the N7 manual. https://www.ebay.com/itm/115539526821 Also found another Super C for trade bait. https://www.ebay.com/itm/185606087549 Also recently added an Asian version variant and a Samurai variant to my international Super Mario Bros collection. Once I get the black Samurai added [somehow? anybody got one?] I'll post pics of the whole thing.
  3. Ninja Gaiden 3 Razor's Edge on Master Ninja. Don't have the patience for Ultimate Ninja as the game's central mechanic, Cicada Surge, only works like half the time.
  4. I'm not trying to be as thorough with the clone versions because it seems like there are an indefinite number of them. But I'll take all the help I can get.
  5. There are only 3 legit famicom variants I know of, and here they are on top of the clone versions
  6. Here's a sneak peak of the collection so far. The box on the left is full of famicom and famiclone versions
  7. I took over an international Super Mario Bros variants collection from another collector a few years ago and I've almost got all the variants I've set out to collect. Right now, I'm only collecting every label and cart variant from every country that were just SMB, not SMB plus Duck Hunt, Track Meet, Tetris, etc. But now I'm entertaining the idea of getting all the multicart variants too, and I'm wondering how difficult that would be. Does anybody here happen to have a list of them all ready-made for me? I will have to do a lot of eBay research and scope out the endeavor fully before I decide whether to do it or not, but if someone here happened to have already done all that work for me, that would be sweet.
  8. That's a pretty sweet setup, I was thinking about going the projector route too. How's the input latency on that thing?
  9. gocollect has retconned nintendoage's backups in the Wayback Machine and I can no longer find a way to view the old rare variant thread. Does anybody have that old thread saved somewhere? Not everybody who was on those old lists have put themselves on these yet. The vast majority haven't.
  10. Would love to see your completed set once you find one.
  11. Went through a bit of this thread and saw you're collecting Xbox demo discs. I'm selling one big lot of them on eBay, if you're interested. https://www.ebay.com/itm/334488984034
  12. I think it was a used copy of Transformers Devastation for Xbox One I bought at Gameplay on Venice here in LA. There are a few Platinum developed, Activision published titles that you can't buy digitally anymore because of some sort of license expiration. I think TMNT Mutants in Manhattan is another.
  13. Can't remember for sure, but one on eBay went for like $150-ish about a year ago.
  14. There's a Tecmo NBA N7 in this lot. Can't tell by the part #, but N7s have extra white space underneath the NBA logo like this one has.
  15. Spot on. I have a 1 out of 10 copy of of John Elway's Quarterback that I've thought about sending in to get slabbed, but it never went beyond a joke in my head because I assumed WATA would never stoop so low. Apparently they would. If someone wants to send in a game as a joke, they're happy to be in on the joke. Shows you what they think of us.
  16. https://www.ebay.com/itm/265736315611 Here's another Spanish/Asian just like mine, even down to the QC sticker and the slightly slanted Asian Version text.
  17. I've got a bunch of demo discs I'd like to get rid of. In the slim dvd case I have: 16, 18-21, 23-39, 41-59, 62-69, 71-75, 77-80, 82-85, 87, 90, 91 In regular dvd case with unofficial cover insert I have: 1, 7, 9, 11, 17 Asking $2 per
  18. Looking around the net, I'm seeing Super Mario Bros on Famicom disk sometimes came with another game on the other side. I've found it with SMB 2, Golf, Othello, Soccer, and the B side of Reflect World on the flip side. I'm guessing that at least the one with half a game on the back isn't official, but wondering which ones were official Nintendo releases. Any help would be appreciated. Which ones were official Nintendo releases? How easy was it to rewrite a FDS game?
  19. I don't have access to an Asian version NES. Plays like a normal NTSC Mario though.
  20. Great info, thanks for the schooling, @bowser. I'll take all your theories as gospel, all sounds good to me. Here's the Asian-Samurai pcb
  21. Got the weird Asian-Spanish cart in the mail today, but one quick note on a wrench thrown into the mystery of the Asian/Samurai from a few posts up that I discovered when I opened it up to compare date codes today: it's NTSC with date codes from 86. So it's not quite simply a first edition Asian with a Samurai back label on top of the Nintendo one. The Samurai was PAL, and the Asians I have are PAL from 90 or 91. While I was at it, I opened up my standard looking Super Mario Samurai and it had a non-Nintendo PCB that I hadn't seen before. No idea what that all implies. Now on to the Asian-Spanish cart. Like @bowser mentioned, it has Philips head screws like a Samurai, and I managed to get the PCB out without having to remove the QC sticker on the back in order to get to the center screw. The label has a few things weird about it aside from the Asian text and Spanish code mismatch: There are a couple spots where there's clearly something under the label, probably pieces of a failed or removed previous label. The gold paint of the seal of quality isn't shiny like it usually is, but the quality of the paper and the rest of the print is of the standard, high quality of a normal label. The Asian Version text slants noticeably down to the right, is placed lower than it is in the regular Asian version, and is in a shorter and less boldface font. The N at the end is about a millimeter closer to the edge than the A at the front. The PCB looks good and official. I compared the date codes to a Spanish version and Asian version with similar labels, and found those to both have 9129 on the PRG. A picture of that comparison is below. Anything else you all want to know? What do you think???
