Music Debate #82: Soundgarden

The band that was supposed to be Nirvana before Nirvana.  (In fact, in 88, Kurt used their vinyl record as a pickguard on his Mustang).  Black Hole Sun is one of my favs.  I'm not familiar with their entire catalog but I heard a lot more I liked than I didn't.  8.

 

Oh BTW, the guy on the left in the first pic, is Jason Everman.  Who played with Nirvana from Feb 89 to July 89.  He also had a guitar with a vinyl record as a pickguard but I forget the band.

EDIT.  I was wrong, The pickguard is "Where are the Dead?" by Thomas Road Baptist Church.  I guess it was just the sticker.

I jumped back and forth between 9 and 10. They're not my favorite band of all time but easily in my top 10 and they're definitely worthy of a 10 in my opinion so that's what I went with.

Down on the Upside was the first CD that I ever owned. It contains my favorite song of all the albums. Give “Boot Camp” a listen.

A necro bump to the max but since finding this song this past summer I listen to it almost every day, a great cover. I'd be down for a Sevendust cover album (Lajon Witherspoon is a great and underrated vocalist)

7. There is a lot of random filler, but the songs worth listening to are amazing. The first half of Down on the Upside is killer.

When anyone talks about Soundgarden its almost exclusively Superunknown. Not that that is bad but they have great stuff from all over. Also agreed Down on the Upside is great. Blow Up the Outside World is one of my favs

P.S. - @Gloves how on earth had you never heard Black Hole Sun?  Too much Alanis Morissette, Shania Twain, Our Lady Peace, and Celine Dion?
