This is some wild shit.  I hope to hell this blows up in their face.

Microsoft appears to be cracking down on third-party peripherals for its consoles. Players are reporting getting error messages when they try to use certain off-brand controllers on Xbox Series X/S, with the accompanying text telling them them that the devices are not authorized and will no longer usable come mid-November. The major policy change is sparking a loud outcry from various gaming communities, including fighting game players who often use third-party fight sticks for high-level competitions.

The upcoming change was first reported last week over on WindowsCentral. An Xbox One user reported getting an 0x82d60002 error code when trying to use her existing off-brand Xbox controller. “A connected accessory is not authorized,” a console warning read. “Using unauthorized accessories compromises your gaming experience. For this reason, the unauthorized accessory will be blocked from use on 11/12/2023.”

When I read the title, my first thought was finally something is being done about all the cheaters. MnK, Cronus and all that other garbage needs to go or be put in their own lobbies.

The real question is, does Microsoft offer the Official Microsoft Xbox Seal of Quality on its games, controllers, and accessories?  After all, who wants some junk third party crap that have not been approved by Microsoft and does not meet their standards in excellence in workmanship, reliability, and most of all, entertainment value?

Sony has been doing it for a couple of console generations now, and gotten away with it just fine

But do they have the Official Sony Playstation Seal of Quality on their games, controllers, and accessories?  So that we can be guaranteed quality and full compatibility with our Sony products?

It's pretty widely known (in our niche of a niche) that the SOQ effectively says "we paid a fee to get access to publish on the platform." It didn't mean the item is necessarily well made, it just meant the cartridge had the proprietary chip info to not blank out.

It means we paid a few to publish on this platform in this region. Videomation is the classic example.

The one accessory I don't really get is the "Speedboard"...from the way you're supposed to use the controller with it, it looks more like a slowboard!
