  1. Little Samson is one of the last NES CIBs on my wanted list. I almost bought one for 750 a few years ago, but someone else snagged it when I was getting ready to press BIN. I don’t think there will ever be an opportunity to buy it at a reasonable price again, but I will keep my ebay search active for just in case My last one for the SNES was Hagane. I bought it at a pretty high price 2 years ago, which I thought was never going to increase further as it had been stable for years, but I believe it did increase in the meantime.
  2. I gave it a 10, this generation + the NES and PCE are the best consoles ever made in my book. It’s not the GOAT though, the other consoles in this category I would all rate slightly higher.
  3. 10/10 for me. An absolute classic, always fun to pick up. Hard but not entirely impossible. The athmosphere, graphics and music are incredible. Thinking about it makes me want to play it again !
  4. The NES, no other console even comes close. First there were atari (extremely basic) commodore (not plug and play and once set up, the games were still very basic) and home PCs (not plug and play and very expensive, so not accessible for the masses). Then the NES was introduced > plug and play, high quality, great graphics and games that really took you to a different world and made you feel like you were going on an adventure. Were I lived, there was also a real hype around the NES. All kids had one or wanted one. In my view, the consoles that came after the NES were just iterations (which does not make them inferior in any way). Of course there were also the arcades back then, but these were a different league on their own.
  5. Let’s just agree that the entire series is awesome. I don’t find any of them substantially better than others. They all have a lot going for them and it is amazing how consistent capcom has been in creating this series. It is one of my all time favorite series. If I would have to choose one, I would go for part 2. Part of it is nostalgia (I had it when I was a kid), but part is also the atmosphere . The colors, stages, music.. it just draws me in every time I play it. And that intro is just beautiful in its simplicity. What a way to get started !
  6. Same here. I’m a shmup fan and am really looking forward to these games. Rolling gunner already fell through because of a lack of pre-orders (and a lame business model of the company that was going to produce them), so I hope these will still come. hopefully we will receive an update soon.
  7. All NES and SNES RPGs that had battery backup save functions. And then also the japan-exclusives in translated form.
  8. This is fantastic news. I love the arcade original and super ghouls and ghosts. The NES one is great as well, but I have never been able to get good at it. I think it’s fantastic that Capcom is doing this, I guess it will be a labor of love as this will probably not sell millions.
  9. I think the NES games have aged wonderfully. They are still as much fun as they were all those years ago. I even still enjoy the graphics, the colors, spritework, music, etc. Also the challenge in many of the games is great. the N64 aged terribly in my view. I had both consoles back in the day, so I don’t consider myself biased. It’s just that the games are slow, feel empty and the controls and camera systems are absolutely terrible. I was playing Mario 64 on the 3D All Stars Collection the other day and even though it’s a nice game in many ways, I stopped playing because it become way too frustrating. Also the graphics are just off putting for me. I see the N64 and PS1 as the Atari of their days. Both were pretty fun when they were current and better alternatives were not available yet, but they were not great, and were not advanced enough to age well.
  10. The games do have similarities, but I think dead cells is quite unique. The difficulty develops in such a way that you can get stuck on a certain level for weeks or months, then get better and think: what was so difficult about that ? On higher difficulty levels it becomes tense and strategic, but you always keep on learning by trial and error and find new weapons to keep it interesting. And the story is quite interesting as well ! It gets a kind of science fiction angle to it once you start to understand it. All in all dead cells has become one of my all time favorites, but I have to say that I am happy that I can put it down now after fully finishing it with about 175 hours in.

  13. I finally beat dead cells in 5BC and got to the true ending. happy that I can finally put this game away but it’s definitely a great one.
