    WTB: Homebrews

SNES and Genesis homebrews exist but are less plentiful. For SNES you might like Sydney Hunter. For Genesis get Tanglewood and Xeno Crisis.

Of course, and welcome! What kinds of games do you like? We’d be happy to make additional recommendations

Unfortunately at the moment secondhand homebrew generally increases in price unless someone is liquidating their collection.
  5. Don’t know if they weren’t in stock before, but Mega Cat has Lucky Penguin CIB available: https://megacatstudios.com/collections/8-bit/products/lucky-penguin-1?variant=15419115667490
  6. Bump, and thank you to those who have PM’d me!
  7. I haven’t bought any famicom carts from them, but I always thought KiraKira Star Night had a gorgeous aesthetic. Checking the link though the price seems to have gone back to $53 from $34 (I’ll have to go through and update those prices).
  8. Yes! I noticed several of the homebrews available through Play Asia were significantly reduced for the moment. Anyone on the fence should take advantage!
  9. With @Deadeye's help we solved the problem, but it's still weird how we got there. I tried a plain text paste and manually pasted in new hyperlinks but it still didn't work if you switched between default and dark modes (I've been using default mode). But when I started it dark mode then did a plain text paste and pasted in new hyperlinks one at a time, it seemed to remain visible in both dark and default modes.
  10. And Dark Mode fixed here too, thanks again @Deadeye!
  11. Dark Mode problems fixed, thanks for your help @Deadeye!
  12. Added untitled RPG that Amaweks is working on for NES and MegaXmas '89 for Genesis (pre-order anticipated around 11/25). Also still trying to figure out how to fix issues in Dark Mode.
  13. That’s so cool! I remember reading a little about your family projects from the homebrew calendar
  14. Beau is not elitist, he’s the first friend I made in the homebrew community and he was so patient and informative when I was learning what was available in the community when a few others ignored my PMs and made me feel like an intolerable noob. I struggle to see how anything he’s said in this discussion is substantially different that what anyone else in this thread sharing his opinions has said. People are giving him grief because as a brewer he does have some skin in this debate, he was one of the first to share his viewpoint, and all that in an earlier iteration of this debate that carried a lot of vitriol. Can we please keep this discussion focused on the merits and not on attacking people’s character?
  15. This is a fascinating and illuminating discussion, and I will align my lists to what the community thinks makes sense. My goals were to maintain compilations of homebrew available and in a way that would be useful to the community, striking a balance of what they might want to know/encourage people to make their own games. That my threads reignited the debate is fair, but I included the label to inform and promote and I don’t appreciate others assuming that my intentions are malevolent just because of your interpretation of a label that does not have a universal normative meaning.
  16. Tough call, but depending on the level of participation, I think it would be more interesting to see the variety of top scorers and so only your best in each game should appear. Otherwise if one person dominates a bunch of games it may dissuade people from trying, though it might encourage others
  17. Adding my top score from 0-to-X: 10876 (X), though I know others have gotten the 2X
  18. Damn, because I put all the hyperlinks in the word version
  19. Also you can’t underestimate the power of me causing something weird. If it’s any help, my affected threads are made from me making the lists in word and then copy/pasting into here.
  20. And to the opposite of what Deadeye is seeing, I’m told some of my posts are showing black text on black background in dark mode. Any suggestions to remedy?
  21. @TheNew8bitHeroes I’m primarily here to compile and promote. I believe there is a distinction somewhere and I think there is a line to be drawn, though I am not savvy enough to be the one to decide where it goes. You’ll notice I don’t include the label to Mystic Searches or Mystic Origins because since you built those tools it isn’t the same as where others use it. Same with applying it to your other projects like Gamer Quest, Troll Burner, and Stellarator, it’s not a distinction to use what you yourself built. I’m grateful for the debate unfolding on the new thread, and hope that some kind of consensus is reached. If we can find agreement, I would happily reevaluate where the label, if one is kept, is placed. As I’ve said, I didn’t make the label as an insult, you’ve built something big and a lot of cool stuff is coming from it; and a label is as much a promotional tool so newbies can see what is possible and make their way to you to try out NESmaker.
