  1. Finished Faxanadu tonight. Quite enjoyed. I think I will revisit regularly for sure.
  2. I admit, the first little bit felt slightly disorienting. I don't know what it is. It did take a little while to get my bearings. Once I got a little grounded in what was going on, it grew on me pretty quickly. I absolutely felt the throwback to the Zelda II side scrolling bits. I think that's what pushed me to keep going. I think I appreciate this RPG level up system to what was offered in Zelda II. More straightforward. (Though it has been a long while since I played Zelda II) I could see revisiting this one. It would reduce the back and forth I think knowing what's going on, and starting with a little more Faxanadu game sense. I appreciate the flawed but charming perspective. I think I like the darker atmosphere they went for. The keys do piss me off. Once you've spent one, if you have no spare that back tracking in the misty area was annoying. Take it as motivation to not die, and keep more red potions on hand. Haha.
  3. I'm currently working on my first playthrough of Faxanadu. This game is super fun. I didn't really know what to expect, but as of now, almost into the tower of suffer, I'm really digging it. I will post my picture when I'm through, but I wont have a ton of time to play over the next couple days.
  4. That is absolutely the one!! I did grenade the walls up until I ran out, after that point I was hooped. Lol. Needless to say I was extremely annoyed. Tried to reset hoping it would let me continue, but nope. Ran through again.
  5. Finished commando. My thumb is sore now... also, question if anyone knows. The first time I went through in 4-1, I dropped down a ladder near the beginning of the level. It had in it a bunch of power ups, 4 Graves, and no exit. I couldn't find a way out, so just started over Lol. Needless to say I was not impressed. Either way it's done.
  6. I tend not to play NES too often, and have only beaten a handful of games, as well as having a "smaller" library. I figured I would use this as a means to try and make better progress in the NES games I have and try to beat more of them. I appreciate your tradition, that sounds like an awesome new year's game. Is it fair to say you didn't get the chance to carry that one through this year?
  7. I gave this one a go a couple days ago. I am terrible at it. Haha!! I'll get it one day!!
  8. I started legend of Zelda last night. Haven't played through in years but I got to dungeon 6. I'll be plugging away at it over my last couple of days off work.
  9. Oh baby!! I guess I can cheat and get a head start AND get an ok sleep tonight. Bonus!!
  10. I've had a big urge to play some NES games again, I'm itching to get going on the 2023 list. Haven't been active here for a time, so I'm looking forward to helping out. Ill be plugging away at some of the games I have, starting tonight at midnight.
  11. I've am revisiting Pikmin 2 on the GC. I never got far when I played it on release, just kinda lost interest. I appreciate the lack of time crunch that the first and third had (I liked the way the time limit was imposed in those games, don't get me wrong, and I still enjoy them with it) and I enjoy playing in the Pikmin world with new goals. I can't decide if I like this format better than what 1 and 3 provides...
  12. Late to the party, but I kinda ghosted for a long time there, so I'm catching up on tons of content. Easy 10/10. I've 100%'d, causal-play and minimalist run this game so many times each over the years, and STILL enjoy revisiting it when the urge crops up. This was the first game I figured out on my own in early elementary school, and it just resonates with me wearing my nostalgia goggles.
  13. Oh baby! Classic game! So many good memories!
  14. I remember having a hard time getting into it the first play through of it when it first came out being a huge fan of OOT. I did get though it but was kind of meh. I played it again years later when I was older and it was at a tougher time in my childhood. For some reason it really resonated with me and I played it as objectively as I could, getting the idea of it being an OOT "sequel" out of my head, and looked at it as it's own game. Been a favourite of mine ever since.
  15. 30 Day music video game challenge list -Day 1 Title theme: Metroid Prime -Day 2 Megaman X opening level -Day 3 Strider NES -Day 4 Dark Cloud Series (PS2)
  16. I was going through my Dreamcast stuff on GVN, and I noticed a big jump in Spawn: In the Demons hand, looked through the data tab, and what do you know, it started climbing the day after the Spawn episode dropped. I guess I'm sorta kinda still shocked that the Cinemassacre effect is still a thing.
