  1. I finally beat Altered Beast! That was incredibly frustrating. You need to memorize all the enemy patterns because there is little room for error. I died way too many times on the final boss because my jump input would not register. It only takes one failed jump for the boss to combo you causing instant death. On my winning attempt I started using A+B to jump instead of B+C. I found that I could jump more consistently with that button combo. (genesis controller). I need to play the Genesis version again. I've never beaten that one. I think I'll give Choplifter a try next.
  2. Beat Global Defense! This was my first time beating it. I really enjoy this one. Also updating my firmware on my Mega SG allowed me to run Global Defense and Altered Beast on it now.
  3. Wow thanks for introducing me to the Sega Bass Fishing soundtrack. I had no idea it was good. You know if the game is worth playing?
  4. Just got to the final boss of Altered Beast for the first time. Got a game over. I'm sure I can do this after a few more goes. I'm really interested to pop in the Genesis version when I'm finished with this to compare and have my mind blown. This version is soo choppy. It's really struggling. Not sure why. Maybe because of the huge sprites? Or are they actually animated background tiles?
  5. Did you build your collection from games you've found locally while game hunting? Or do you purchase most of your games online? In my case, I'd say 80% local, 20% online. I've spent a lot of time at games stores and conventions. I've done my fair share of thrifting as well. I use ebay for things I just can't get locally. Usually imports, CIB Genesis, Saturn, and Turbografx games. Do you feel a stronger connection to your collection from game hunting in person? For me, I think there is. I can remember where I've bought almost every game in my collection. The process of game hunting is a big part for me.
  6. I was lucky to buy the first set of Moonshake when they were released. I was dumb and passed up Pokemon, Super Metroid, and Donkey Kong Country. My NES volume 2 skipped on a couple of tracks which I though was because of a bad pressing. So I stopped buying from him. Turns out, I was using a crappy turntable with no tracking force adjustment. I've since learned.
  7. The bootleg video game vinyl resale market can get crazy.
  8. Here are a few I've acquired recently. Showing some Wii U love: Zelda: Breath of the Wild, Yoshi's Wooly World, Mario Kart 8, DK 64 rap
  9. No, I wish. Unfortunately I don't have those games. I'm working on Altered Beast right now and having a tough time with it.
  10. Nice setup! I was using OG hardware as well. A light sixer. Old reliable. You've got a different cartridge varient than me.
  11. Beat Hang-On. It was fun going back to the Master System version. I really like Super Hang On on Genesis. Hang On and World Grand Prix are very much alike. Hang On plays a lot better due to the hitboxes and how steering on corners works. Too bad Outrun doesn't run as smooth as this. This was Level 3 8 courses beaten.
  12. @koifishthat's a great strategy. That's what you do in Kaboom. Die right before the 1up. I thought of doing that but I didn't have time to test it out in Tapper.
  13. Thanks for running the contest! It was a lot of fun with good competition. I chose to play by maximizing score per level vs. getting as far into the game as possible. For instance, you could get like 50,000 just on the first screen. You could quickly throw 2 glasses down the row and immediately run towards it. They will throw them back and each glass you catch is worth 100 points. As long as you don't clear all enemies, the level will go on forever (its just really boring). After each bonus round, the points for clearing an enemy increases. It goes from 50, 75, 100, 125?, then maybe 150. If you loop the game after the sci-fi bar, back to level 1 loop 2, the enemies are only worth 50pts again, but the game difficulty is still higher. So it is worth it to hang around before looping and score points on double glass throwing (200 pts) while also clearing enemies at 100 or 150 per enemy rather than progressing through the game. In my experience.
  14. Wow I remember seeing those in stores on display when they were new. Either Target or Fry's. Can't remember.
  15. Yeah man! It's been a while. I've been real busy with school so I haven't had much time. I'll be graduating college this semester. I'm looking to get back into into the competitions. I don't own the next couple of games in the tournament though. I'll have to either buy some carts or download an emulator. This will be fun if I can keep up with it.
  16. Thanks, yours is too. Getting into the 200,000s is tough. Its definitely a grind. I'm interested what your strategy is.
  17. @Jeevan Score update! Managed to up my score by 100k. I think that's about all I want to do. I'm busy playing Mario 3 for the weekly challenge tonight.
  18. 593,370 534,830 384,880 189,060 Not great first attempt. Just going for participation really.
  19. You are racing against the computer but you aren't ranked 1st,2nd,3rd when you finish a course, it only cares of you beat the course time. You get points when you successfully beat the time which you can use to buy upgrades. But I think they only last one round? You lose all your points when you get a game over. I don't see any complete playthroughs on YouTube. But I'm pretty sure there isn't an "ending" screen.
  20. Any idea why some Master System games aren't working on my Mega SG? I can't run Altered Beast, Global Defense, or Captain Silver. Is there a firmware update or something?
  21. I "beat" World Grand Prix. I don't know if you can actually beat this one. I did clear all 12 tracks on Level 1 difficulty by beating the course records. Though, it wasn't in one go. I got a lot of game overs but that doesn't matter because it still retains your course records after game overs. I can post my times of all the tracks if you want. But here's track 12.
  22. Just beat Captain Silver. Fun game! It is short though since I am playing the American version.
  23. Damn. Just got a game over in Hang On on course 6 out of 8. I'll try again tomorrow.
