My work for this weekend: Wizardry Knight of Diamonds
after searching for about 2 years i was finally able to buy the strategy guide off ebay a few months ago and it made playing the game so much more enjoyable not having to constantly scroll through a gamefaqs to find the info i wanted
also i found this game much less frustrating than the mad overlord

i did championship pool last month the advice I would give is to just really take your time on each and every shot, you really have to get creative against some of the later opponents. Basically check all the different power levels with all the different amounts of spin. I would routinely spend ten plus minutes on a single shot to figure out my best option. Another thing that tricked me was the ghost ball only ricochets like twice so sometimes it looks like it disappears into the pocket but really it’s grazing the cushion and missing.

Hey @Mae247 don’t feel unwelcome just consider that scary puts a lot of time into managing this thread and he does an excellent job keeping track of the different stats it’s also nice that he keeps it accessible by not requiring pictures but you gotta realize how it comes off to guys like him or nerdy when you drop a list of games without providing any context or checking the completion conditions, it just diminishes what they do
i don’t think just because it’s being discussed you should feel like you don’t want to contribute, there’s no shame in being good at games

Did anyone beat it last year? There has to be someone on here that can beat it in the next two weeks.
i beat it a few years ago it's really a pain it would definitely take me more than 2 weeks to finish it, bea beat it before and she never has trouble with any game so

@Jeevanreally set the bar. Wonder If anyone else gets to a million?
I would think Bert and Richard will
@Gaia Gensouki there’s so much going on in some of the levels it’s hard to manage it all not to mention the character controls pretty poorly leading to many less than fair deaths
-
unfortunately I couldn't even break a million
good luck to everyone else

@Jeevan I feel like for the finals it would be less lame to have someone that can participate in both games but finishes last than someone who only submits a score for one game.
It’s not that I’m against emulating I just don’t have the ability to. -
if it's not too late give my spot to jeevan. I don;t have famicom games or use an emulator so i have no way to play circus charlie and I don't want to spoil the final round by not competing

You have so much more control on Easy that im not sure that would be entirely do-able on Hard. Most of it seems to be the way he's moving the head to destroy buildings as quick as possible.
EDIT: Plus you can tank so much more damage and the enemies are weaker. You can run into enemies with the head and kill them and get points for it, but of course you take damage. So when draining for points, its essential because you can't shoot everything. This is a run i screwed up earlier this morning i had 383 the guy in the video has 384 so i don't think easy controls allow you to gain much more points(this is before the level three boss with the point raking spot that doug brought up this morning). I've had a 500k score since friday if you know the game it's not that difficult to do basically I use the head as a battering ram in a few sections.

idk when I was figuring out how to play bosses earlier this week I was using my continues so I’d start with 0 points on the level 4 boss and come out with like 30 some thousand
I noticed those shootable blocks on the ground but I never tried to fly down there

So for the hell of it I went for 500k. I reworked my play style and concentrated on prioritizing killing enemies than destroying buildings, but still destroying as much as them as I could. I died at the final boss (482k) but on doing some research for points, I don't think you get points for killing the final boss. If you do it doesnt' seem significant. Saw a run going in at 453k and ended up with 464k. So I wouldn't have broke 500k so I have no idea how its possible lol. Id love to see berts run!
I think between the level 4 boss and the final boss it’s about 45k, it seems like the level 2 boss and the final boss you don’t score as many points for as the others

This one is on my list of worst nes games, i understand the idea is that the ship is difficult to control but having to thrust using select+B but then also having to use the control pad to steer makes no sense because i only have two thumbs. The instant you let go of select to touch the control pad the planet gravity starts pulling differently because you're now only holding B which is just the regular engine. Basically most times you try to change direction you go smashing into a wall or crashing into the planet surface. Also if you want to put your shields on you press down and to turn them off you press up, cause you know the buttons might never be accidentally pressed when you're trying to rotate your ship.
