  1. Bases Loaded 4 is done, finally- i won the super series 4 games to 1

i finished with a record of 70-12-4 so the ties might as well count as losses since you still have to win 70

    my biggest win was 7-0

the highest scoring game was 7-2

the most incredible thing that happened was one game i hit three home runs on three straight pitches

I think I'll start All Pro Basketball again in the next few days, unless someone else already has or desperately needs to do it for their personal list.

Speak now! Only one member should be sacrificed on this time-sink of a sports game. But with @bronzeshield committing to the first Bases Loaded and @NESfiend grinding away on the Second Season, that will only leave Bases Loaded 4 among the long sports games. And @Tablew/chairs apparently still needs that one for his personal list. I can do All Pro Basketball, as I've done it twice before and I find it easy. Finishing the long sports games will be a big step towards finishing the list.

i did bases loaded 3 this weekend i saw nesfiend already did it but i wanted to beat 3 before i started 4, anyway i've begun bases loaded 4 i'm 7-3 and the games basically are either i hit a few home runs and shut them out or i don't hit any and then after about 15 innings i make a fielding error and they win 1-0, so they never score unless i miss a fly ball and i can never get a hit if i have a man on base

  3. ok klash ball is done, i like this game but it seems pretty unpopular.  it's actually really short just a 10 game season and then 2 playoff games.   You can also change the game length from 2 minutes to 1 minute to make it extra fast.  There's a little bit of a learning curve but after you understand how the ball bounces around and the best time to grab it the game becomes fairly straight forward.

  4. @nerdynebraskan it's probably like 20-25 of those left i haven't beaten, everything i've done this year beside temple of doom has been a first time, but there's another one i see i might repeat if i get a chance today.  i'm kind of interested in nightshade or maybe best of the best and i've never done any of the ultima games but after wizardry not sure if i'm ready for another rpg yet.

@bronzeshield that;s the spirit! I haven't done BL 3 or 4 yet however they aren't anything i feel like doing immediately but i could see myself playing them later this year

I also have to say that I'm starting to get burned out by these subpar and oftentimes frustrating games. If it wasn't for the community effort and mutual help and encouragement here I would probably have thrown the towel on some of these games. Thanks everyone! Despite that I might take a short break from NES games. We'll see.

the problem is you’re playing some really poor games but that’s ok if we’re gunna finish someone has to beat them

ultimate air combat and Michael Andretti world gp are both really well done games. As someone who doesn’t enjoy those genres I still appreciated the design of the game and the attempt toward realism.  I would recommend both of them for the challenge which to me made them fun. Downside would be length and the undesirable genres.

loopz is another excellent game that’s still available

    @bronzeshield

as far as taking one for the team we really need someone to start these bases loaded games. There’s still a few on the list I can do pretty easily but they’ll be repeats me so I’ll wait a little bit more to see if anyone picks them up

    Couple questions.

Regarding the win condition. It doesn't seem like the ending changes if you get 1st on the final lake. Shouldn't it be fine then to just get a first at some point during the tournament and then just finish all 12? Or maybe get a 1st on each lake at least once?

Does the HBMAX code count for completion? I know it's in the manual, but the manual calls it a "special mode" so I didn't think that would be playing the game on a normal type playthrough.

Most playthroughs I could find just got the best rank available on all 4 lakes then considered the game "finished". The Mexican Runners playthrough he didn't even bother trying to get 1st on the last day of the tournament and still considered it done for his purposes. Thoughts on the actual ending for anyone familiar with Black Bass?

as far as the win condition i do see it both ways, on one hand the ending does not change even if you get first in the last tournament but on the other thinking of it as a sports game with a season you wouldn't say i was i first place half way through the season so i can lose the rest of the games and call it a win, i just went with the rules we use here which also allows the code, i would say there's certainly a gray area and it's really up to you

@arnpoly might have some thoughts i know i read his blog post but i don't remember what he did, his reviews are interesting and really in depth so he probably mentions it, mexican runner definitely has some interesting ending conditions i remember him posting a sorta rant about the win condition for some game back on the nintendoage thread

Anyone have tips for Black Bass? The first 2 lakes went real smooth. Having a lot more trouble on the third though. I can sometimes get the fishes stamina meter down, but even then they tend to jump and break the line.

it's a cruel game, are you using the code from the manual to show how much tension is on the line?  i tried out all the lures but eventually just settled on using red pencil for everything, i didn't find time of day or location or depth to have much affect on lures effectiveness though.  I thought it was harder to get first place on the final tournament than it was to get first place on the same lake earlier in the season.  It seemed like on that last tournament i'd get 3 nice size ones and then everything else i'd hook would be tiny and time would run out.  As far as them jumping it just seemed all luck based sometimes they jump three or four times and it wouldn't break sometimes the first jump broke it.  This is a photo of the biggest bass i caught, i think i also have photos of my daily total from the final tournament i'd have to check i don't think i even caught a 20 lb that final tournament just like 4 or 5 decent size ones.

On a side note, Dragon Quest/Warrior IV still takes a bit of time since I temporarily lost interest after learning that I can't control my companions during battle anymore. But I will try to beat it within this month.

On gamefaqs there is a game genie code to let you control all characters, one day i'd like to try it out that way
