  1. I held off due to the timing issue of it not matching the GBC clock rate off by quite a few seconds after not too long a period.  The speed it is off is wider than the issue speed runners and sensitive types get fussy over with the SuperGB.  I knew it was easily updated with firmware upgrades so I was going to wait.  I will order it, when it's in better shape for accurate speeds.

  2. I'm awaiting the sad day I have to re-activate my cares with LRG once again.

I just saw that via play-asia there's a Valis Collection Vol 3 coming to Switch once more, and again outside of them NOT IN ENGLISH.

I wonder when that game will pop up so I can feed the beast again, then see it the following year.

  3. Does the value of your collection make you feel guilty for keeping it rather than selling?

I want to stick that without reading any posts because I saw the question on the list of posts, and the answer was yes and has increasingly so as the environment got more toxic, selfish, and underhanded.  I got to a point where I felt very very uncomfortable holding onto all sorts of stuff, and yes I could really use the money for my own interests, but I didn't make that a factor either.  I felt uneasy holding specifically onto all sorts of singular items, games, or series of games(whole console or handheld setup) because of the environment.

That same environment also has had the opposite effect, I've latched onto keeping some stuff I'm not overly in love with, but know as I do, I'll want to come back around to it and refuse to pay the stupid fingers prices the stuff has been resting at.  Earthbound is a perfect example, I do like it for what it is, but I don't think it's a great game and don't love it as the game and series is more flawed than fine.  It's also a game into the hundreds of dollars as is the guide, I have $2 and $60 into them respectively.  Like hell I'd ever get them for that again.  So I selfishly as it is hold onto them because of that.  Yet I've had other things like a sealed Pokemon red if you recall, sold that one off locally for around $1500 in cash when it was worth easily $1K more.  It made me nervous having it I didn't want it in a safety box, and having it in a shadowbox as it's my favorite original art felt dangerous like someone could come in and break the window and grab it as a prelude to more next to it.  I wanted it gone, the value was so stupid and toxic for such a common title, it was a 100% burden so it went.

A lot of it now has ended up a burden over some years.  Out has gone the entire collections for PSone+lcd combo and games, the PS3 and games, the NGPC and games, my PCE CG2 and Duo and cards/discs, Dreamcast and Wii.  Numerous titles, fluff, accessories for others I've kept, coleco and other old tabletops, handhelds etc.  Same with related but not for same mental reasons vintage toys, antiques, and electronics.

It just didn't feel right keeping all these expensive toxic priced items as it was a burden having it just sit, have so much inflated value, and theft and manipulation pressures on it as well.  I've reverted to nearly exclusively buying video games (domestic) locally and when the price isn't near the online garbage fire.  I'm trying to move towards buying and keeping what I only care to use, exceptions for games I've held onto for like 20+ years though that haven't aged poorly.

  4. You know I already posted, but I finally did take the bullet and ordered a replacement computer.  In the end my Pinbot bucks went to another laptop, not a desktop like I had planned for since the original choice was delayed, and from the same maker too.  That said, I do love that Sonic one from TOMY it's a good distraction.

I also saw on playable display at Costco near job#2 that they have a Star Wars digital pinball on display and wow that's fun, didn't think it would be that solid.  I'd love to maybe go that route at some point with a lower price point which is possible as stocks rotate and years tick along.  It's about as big as those 2/3 zizzla pins from like 15 years ago (I had one, pirates of the carribean) and it's pretty involving in a good way.  Sure it's just emulated and simulated being a stand up, and it's using their $2/pop pins on their mobile/pc/console apps but it does have a nice presence.  I liked the table it had up based on Ep4, saw it was on sale for a dollar on my phone so I grabbed it, still fun, but loses the luster without the buttons and faux glass/table thing going.  I saw it had hacks to add all the 30 tables they have from the other 2 exterior match sets for Marvel etc.

I saw people complaining about Analogue no longer producing NES, SNES, Genesis systems. That said, there are some pretty good alternatives to those Analogue systems which are also very well priced. However, I don't ever recall seeing any systems similar to Pocket nor their Duo -- are there any such systems? I know there are tons of systems that have the games on ROM, but are there are any real alternatives to Pocket or Duo that actually play the cartridges?

I don't pop up daily here anymore and you already wrote within the last day that response I was going to give, but yeah on the handheld side for $80 combined for the kit and shell/outer bits you have that FPGBC for all things 8bit gameboy and that covers that if you're just into carts and not cores with the pocket.  I intend to get one eventually, want to see firmware updates about the speed come to reality first.

But outside of the AVS for NES, what do you think is a good alternative for the SNES and Genesis at this rate that run carts in an HDMI format without some moderate to pretty poor baggage?  The last of the atgames (2nd gen android) mini genesis they did was on point using genesis gx plus as a core, and SNES has...SupaboyS but that's not HDMI even if it's otherwise accurate.  I haven't seen anythine come to fill the void on those 2 systems, seems negligent of them to drop them.

@a3quit4s That uses no cores.  It's a pure DMG+CGB FPGA, that's it.  Cart only.  Think of it like that weirdo chinese GB Boy Color handheld, but doesn't suck.

  6. Damn morbis and gloves combined really nailed it.

Vectorman was the ultimate hubris that was Sega Genesis combined from both the advertising side and gaming side.

Being loud, flash, flair, in your face and seemingly so appealing, hip, mature, and "not Nintendo" and if you drank that kool-aid you were satisifed.  Yet, if you didn't binge the special juice, stepped back, and took look and a listen, crack after crack formed.

You'd realize the loudness, flashiness, in your face messaging was more smoke and mirrors than quality and value for your time and money - ultimately being sold more lies than truth.  Not to say that Sega didn't have anything good, no, as that's an equally big lie as they did but it's drowned out by all the manufactured garbage.  Vectorman was the tip of the dumpster pile (right along with a few other key blow outs like Eternal Champions.)

If you're reeled in and hooked like a good fishy they're seemingly good to great games, but if you were coming off the SNES, NES, TG16 even, arcade, loaded rich kid with an AES... wtf basically would sum up the parts of the whole.  The mediocrity wins out with the bland visual and color choices, the generic "sega" style audio combined, decent but not quite nailed it controls, good to sketchy stage designs, and the list goes on.  Vectorman never vectored in on greatness, just the illusion of it.

Sega has some 9-10/10 gems, a few they did, a few Wolfteam did, as did Konami for sure, and other random one offs from virgin, accolade, etc.  Vectorman though I struggled between a 3-5 range on this one, went middle on a 4 and I think that's being slightly generous.  There are many better, and there are worse, but maybe not very good would have been deserving.

I could derail this with some solid sega games, I have dozens of them, but this isn't one, and I've ignored it in $5 dump bins as I think it's an ask even for that.

Well you don't need to take your anger for others out on me. Like the_wizard said.... we're just having fun here, it doesn't need to be so serious.

    ...

I'm not angry and I'd put more here but you'd just feed off it because you're getting a rise.  I'm not changing anything, you brought it into the conversation and kept going in circles (in other posts than these) how it's a fake.  I'm sick of false narratives, that's it.  These days I don't have the time, care, or interest to pull out a box of crayons to explain things anymore unless I really really were worked up over it and felt it was necessary.  SMB2(USA) never should have been pulled into the conversation in the first place as the whole SMB3 vs 4(World) has been ongoing for 30+ years now and that's enough to fill a book.

  8. This year seemingly has been none of the above technically, especially how I feel about it (like a few others do) which is the Famicom.  I have got up to now over 55~ games for it and have an AV Famicom on my panasonic monitor.

I did end up with a number of NES games in the last couple of months too which was strange, and a number of Genesis titles too.

SNES, N64, maybe a gamecube game or two since they're toxic, and I've got GB, GBC and GBA I grab for when I can, and a supervision.  That's it, everything is done and good n' gone other than my Switch.

  9. I got a N64 exp (ram) pack for $36, and Sega Arcade Gallery for $24 at a local shop that did a generous(hah) 20% off sale they do just once a year.  Online, nothing, saw nothing of value, and needed no more Switch games at this time given I'm barely able to juggle the 2 Mario titles from this month.

I did get a few 50% off blu ray/dvds because of a half price books sale too.  Police Squad! DVD for $3.75 also same price Afro Samurai DVD, and blu ray Eden of the East for $12.50,

  10. I sadly benched Wonder, great game, but SMRPG has been more engaging as it has been a long time and the minute changes and quality of life tweaks are making for a really nice special edition of the classic.  Hopefully if means even if it's like 30 years on if it happened, the game finally gets its first sequel.

  11. @the_wizard_666 I'm just fed up with his troll posts about the game as I am with others online.  This false narrative even when corrected by Japanese members who worked on it still persists and it's beyond tiresome.  SMB2 was never a black sheep game until some group think troll farm decided to make it so.  He has been going on for months now doubling down on it and people seem to keep feeding his need for attention, that's really all it is.  It's annoying it persists, especially in a topic that wasn't even about SMB2 anyway, it's SMW vs SMB3 which has always been more of a hot button issue of people trying to choose which is better and there are good arguments on both sides.  It's cute he thinks I'm worked up, I'm not, I'm just over it and felt it just needs to be called out for what it is, revisionist alt-history.

  12. You're not having just a discussion, you're a troll, and you're so high on your alternate reality there's really no point in arguing with you.  Great you found a US based media spin of history to suit the narrative, despite what Nintendo has cleared up over time, glad that pacifies your mental conditions.

Obviously Nintendo would cover their own tracks in the US because they buried the FDS game because how nasty it was and out of date by the time it would have arrived here.  The makers have stated what's what in interviews long after Mario Mania was published, keeping that cozy narrative of 'The Lost Levels' with their frehs All-Stars release. Guide from the mid/early 90s, interviews from the 00s-10s that clarified the background, really doesn't help make your case.

My advice go find an old field, grab as much hay as you can and snuggle, because you seem to love grasping at straws.

  13. @RH That is really weird I never had that happen, but I don't use FF much maybe once a month.  I have a friend a vet about half my age who I have helped along in various ways, gaming too, and he likes to PP me $ FF when I end up finding something for him when I'm out, have an item he wants to buy off me, etc.

Either way try venmo, same company, I don't think it would be an issue.  Id split the payments between PP for legit and FF on the Venmo side so it doesn't gum up stuff.

I don't go after cherry items anymore, especially paper, I can deal with some wear stickers on games too if I can improve them enough to deal.  If/when you get around to posting things I'll take a look.

  14. @RH Are you abusing FF I've never hit any limit with it, but I don't go even average sales (or nuts) with it either.

Paypal is Venmo so if that's the issue, use venmo as they're linked.  Zelle my mom used to send us stuff through our bank, was fast and idiot button easy.

I'd be curious about this perceived hoard.  I don't buy a lot of games anymore, but if it were the right non-game but gaming related item, anime related, ???

I'm not too surprised, kinnikuman probably has a bigger impact on the memory just because it was a big comic. I'm more confused about the murder on the Mississippi game. What is the tag in that? Or is it a spoiler?

It's based on a non-japanese computer game and I think book story from the west and was adapted to the FC as a point n click type title.  The problem is, the developer was dumb as a bag of rocks, made a terrible interface, made the game boring and just good enough maybe to confuse a 5yo, so it's largely reviled by those who grew up with it.

  16. I saw that tax thing, popped up by sheer luck when I was looking at a news site on my phone.  Within a day I dusted off my ebay account.

I've got a few smalls for myself, but my wife wasted a G on an ipad pro 12.9 on accident(sorta) because she did all this research for photo editing choices and when she did the Adobe was on board, shortly after, they decided to age out anything under a M2 where you can edit more than one photo at a time which ruined her use of the thing before she even got started to do it.  It ended up largely sitting for youtube a little but mostly in the box.  Replaced it with an apple laptop which has the M2 and otherwise largely the same, can do what she wanted, but now the tablet has to go and fast since it'll eat into a year of monthly payments we don't want to float. 😕  I hope someone bites, 256GB storage, space gray, has solid extras of an apple pencil and otterbox case etc.  I put it at a level where I think it'll move hopefully sooner than later and to cover most the loss.
