Any clue if I can use to Dock with a DAC yet? T_T

Still doesn't work.  They're very VERY slow and spotty on what they're adding/fixing as promised when pre-selling it a few years ago.  When I was asking about features multiple people were pissed off saying the DAC was a no go still.  Sorry.

I mean the entire button configuration thing is still not enable if someone wanted to change like Y/X B/A on a 4 button face pad even if they want it a more comfy sort.  It just defaults to SNES standard seemingly, but at least it's finally seeing many/most controllers and aligning the layout right at least by default.

  2. I figure a follow up is needed at least for me since I don't post finds here anymore.

A few weeks ago (nearly a month initially) a local second hand shop here got 2 (but kept one for an employee in the rear) limited edition colored (they kept green) pockets and a yellow hit the floor at $250.  I asked quite a bit, gave it a solid look over, but only dug as much to make sure it worked but just couldn't stomach it even after talking to the gaming manager of the stuff.  I was back about 10 days later, shockingly, it was there still and the guy straight up asked if I still cared and wanted it if he took $50 off.  Then it dawned on me I had a loyalty card worth 25% off, and with that despite me shitting on analogue for the dock lies bought it for $150.  I get the thing home, really dig into it, and discovered it was never once powered up for use, still on the original firmware, had the original charge, it just wasn't enjoyed, so the old owner being a collector who turns over stuff(they said) the fool unwrapped and displayed it in the box, that's it.

After that I decided to ask here, elsewhere, finally I got someone who didn't downvote asking if the dock worked right on reddit(some people just suck on there) who let me know the last firmware update did a lot of dock corrections.  I went digging online, and luck struck twice, found another open box unit, the guy bought the dock but only used the handheld and just posted it to sell it with the top off.  I figured it was stories, but I negotiated and got that for $110 shipped, not the usual grift on ebay.  It wasn't a story, stock launch firmware, not a fingerprint, and the cables unremoved ever.  So I flashed the thing and boom, stories were right.

WHen I got the pocket they had that 8bitdo switch pro style controller the ultimate bluetooth C thing for $15 so I grabbed it to use.  I decided to see if I could get it to pair up, it did, and it did correctly, and other controllers that past failed did as well.  From there got into the menu, set up the failed to remember menu settings for displaying stuff, and it remembered them on sleep and power off entirely on/off dock all that 100% too.  I'm now very belated satisfied, also found that 8bitdo pad if you hit the power up button in the center of it, it turns on the pocket in dock too!  That's a nice bonus. Over the last few days put a few hours into FF6 Advance cart on it I recently acquired too, got as far as Sabin and Shadow meeting so far.

The one thing I did see, manually changing button mapping is still broken/gray/off still which is sad, but at least it seems to align stuff by default right at least so that's good enough.  Not sure I'll fiddle with cores, not much time for what I have without going to roms.

  3. Going off what casualcart there said, I've got every single Godzilla movie ever made (zero aside, not released yet) on blu ray.  The showa era stuff came in this largely oversize coffee book style binder of sorts from criterion a few years or so back so they don't fit on my shelf like the rest, but they're a great watch.  I've considered digging into some Ultraman but I think that's a rabbithole just a bit too big.

  4. I wouldn't say obsession, but I make it part of my local routine largely as I pass from spot to spot as it's on my path, and that's Japanese animation, second (distant) to that is the rare occasional manga too I'd want to make space for including recently a couple in Japanese (Famicom 4 Koma Kingdom #2 and Space Family Carlvinson #) manga and other books (Famicom era guides for SMB1 and SMB2j, 1 was turned into the US How To SMB guide.

Do not take this as being political or social or whatever spin you may fall into, but I'm 110% fed up with most modern media with movies, tv, and related streaming since they seem to want to pander hard to issues or things most people don't want to have shoved in their face in their personal form of audio-visual escapism.  I find returning to what I enjoyed in the 90s/00s in anime TV, OVA/OAV, and movies hits that, hits it hard and well pushing edges of stuff they're largely too cowardly to do even now.  I have a half price books along my way and I tend to find some utter whoppers there and not at toxic ebay values.  I don't share the 'finds' in the thread here anymore but if you know your stuff I've come across the $50-150 range stuff for a pittance in my area at that store among others and it's perfect.

Yeah, I can't find any evidence Nintendo did Lolo 1, but they did publish Rare's PinBot. It was even on the Campus Challenge cart with SMB3 and Dr. Mario.

No doubt, I just forgot confusing it with High Speed.  Same crew, same engine, same basic game with the same terrible added monsters on those amazing old tables, but Tradewest I guess just did the 2nd one.

If it weren't for my interest in Famicom stuff over the last couple years and getting a number more carts, an AV Famicom, and some boots including a few smaller better collated multi-carts I would not have hit that number.

We had this utterly ridiculous clown over on AtariAge we couldn't get rid of due to staff hopes or disagreement nearly a year, went by KirkJohnson on there, usually uses Inceptional on his blog and usual accounts to post to YT, discord and the rest.  That headline might as well have his picture.  Utter sheer entitlement mixed with an unfailing level of fanboy orgy mentality over the SNES.  Anything less nice said about it, or how Genesis and TG could do whatever and he'd lose it.  Consistently making up fake game maker x photoshop videos and images with goombas, alucard, and other bs to prove how the system could do all sorts of stuff others couldn't.  Long story short, banned from probably a dozen sites and services, always the victim, always demanding people do WORK yet never would take any kind courteous explanations or helps to learn to do it himself.  Anything not handed or spoon fed over turned into arguing, then gaslighting, then hitting ignore and (still viewing people with a click) trolling more dumb garbage things the SNES can't handle to make his points.  This post maybe a parody, but that a-hole exists.

  7. Well I never saw this until it popped back up.  I've been on a Famicom kick lately so I threw a lot at it that didn't apply as well, but somehow with blind luck and the rest I got 70/73.

    I was missing 1988-?, 1989-?, and 1990-?

Ok Dance Aerobics I agree with, but Super Team Games wtf is that?  And ouch, PinBot?  Having looks I don't feel bad about the first two, power pad was nothing I had a single care about.

I question a few, I threw guesses at early franchise entries and Lolo stuck but I thought HAL did that, and didn't Rare/Tradewest do PinBot along with HIghSpeed?  I had those pinballs made bad with the dumb monsters roaming the otherwise great tables.

  8. Just so you know, https://engrish.com/ still is alive, and it has a facebook account and a couple others who piggyback off it to fun result. 🙂

That said RH is right, but so is the comment about the fear of failure culture they pound into the kids with how schooling works.  I mean if you don't crank out enough overtime in doing class and study you can't even get into a good highschool there and you're pretty well hosed.  I mean I get not wanting to get caught fouling up stuff with the failure aspect.  Where I am now having to work in the outside again some days, I still have a general grasp of spanish, enough I could catch enough of a conversation to get it, but not enough to put a sentence confidently back so I just don't bother.  Japanese to a lesser degree at this rate but I keep trying to re-remember that stuff as it's more relevant to me.

  9. I'm fairly impressed to see (Kunio) Nekketsu Koukou Dodgeball Bu take the #2 slot as that seems almost out of nowhere, yet it does make a lot of sense.  If you play that single player you'll get a taste because every character you can choose on field has a special ground and air shot, though the captains are usually the most devastating.  But, there are a few other non-captains who have some utterly nasty moves when two go at it in 1on1 mode.  One shot a bumblebee is a good one, it spins but also loops the area fairly tightly in the same space so it's hard to snag as you could easily catch it or catch it in the side/back and it'll clear the entire area more or less nailing everyone.  The game has a lot of special attacks, probably the most of the system.

I'm going to go with the N64 personally, even if I was 15 when they came out.  I wonder how much one of those kiosks go for?

I dunno, and I'd take the N64 one too, but to think they put something as more fragile as a gamecube in there with kids to mess with being optical and all, unless they used the development kits with the fat carts with the handle on it for durability sake?

  11. I take it this guy is smart enough not to use his actual address to ship stuff from?  Then again determined enough one could just wait at the po box for pickup and tail the person as well.  I mean otherwise yeah small claims would work, and in the off case he really pissed off the wrong person it could end up with some vigilante justice which he more than deserves in either case.

  12. I haven't run one of these in quite awhile but I'd like to see how it goes.  I currently work 60hours a week, I'll try to reply as soon as I can, shipping may take a day or two as well.

I'm perfectly good with trade as much as I am sale.

This year marks the 135th anniversary of Nintendo's founding, and the 35th anniversary of Game Boy, "The Wizard", "Captain N: The Game Master", & "The Super Mario Bros. Super Show!". How should we celebrate?

The most appropriate thing would be to draft a legal letter and send it to you demanding an immediate take down of your post under the DMCA because you infringed on talking about too much Nintendo in one sentence.

  14. If I were given a copy or it was a dollar or two at a flea market I'd grab it, but it's nothing I'd go out of my way for.  I gave it a 5 and feel it's more than fair.

I've had it a few times over the years since it came out, and each time I lose interest largely because I disliked the forced nuances and situations around primarily the special characters meant for a stage.  I think it just kind of is a fun sucking pain in the ass more than a benefit.  I didn't care much for how the Ai differed in general for regular units either compared to Warcraft II which enjoyed most of all and the original not far behind that.  WC3 is far more fun as a story than a game...kind of like Halo. 😉
