  1. My free time is being totally consumed by Elden Ring, so any NES stuff is on the backburner for the moment.
  2. Beat Sneaky Snakes last night. It was my second serious attempt, after my first ended at the final boss (ugh). It's somewhat fun, but not as good as the NES game. I also beat Alleyway, which was pretty generic, but I see that's already taken.
  3. It's ok, I don't mind struggling for a while. I did make a little more progress last night.
  4. We had required all 4 in the past, so I guess we'll do that for this year as well (since you're doing it anyway). But yeah, there probably should be some consistency there.
  5. I've been playing Portopia, but I'm currently stuck (and I don't want to just spoil it) so I might just move on to something else.
  6. Secret of Mana - this game has always seemed overrated, possibly because it came out in 1993 which was a poor year for the system. Although, that perception might be changing a bit with the re-release. Amazing soundtrack, but I'd rather play the sequel or Secret of Evermore. Earthworm Jim - I think of this game and the sequel as being at a similar level, so I was surprised to see that you have the second game way higher. I find the bonus stages in the sequel to be even more annoying. Of course, you could be taking into account that EWJ1 has an extra level on the Genesis, which makes the SNES version inferior. Final Fight 3 - I didn't care for either of the Final Fight sequels on SNES. I'd say the only essential game in the series would be the arcade original. Pilotwings - You forgot to mention the skydiving? Super Castlevania IV - After playing through Rondo of Blood and Bloodlines, I'm more negative on this game than in the past. Absolutely right to say it's one of the lesser 2D ones. Looking forward to the top 50! You really should do a countdown for the rest of the games - post one per day to build up the tension.

  8. Well, I did decide to beat the second game today: Legendary Axe II is finished. Just an okay game.
  9. I've been getting into TG16 emulation recently, and exploring the library. I can contribute three more games to the list: Ninja Spirit Neutopia Legendary Axe Ninja Spirit was enjoyable, albeit annoying in parts. I'd already beaten the Game Boy version. Neutopia is a not so great Zelda 1 clone. It seems to be well regarded, but I also played Golden Axe Warrior recently on the Master System and I thought that game was much more fun. Neutopia did have better boss fights, at least. Legendary Axe was great, though. Some frustration with all the death pits, but the combat was a lot of fun. Disappointed that the second is a different game entirely. I also beat Ys 1-2, but I guess Turbo CD games aren't on the list.
  10. It's almost certainly a butchering of the Famicom title Rai Rai Kyonshis: Baby Kyonshi no Amida Daibouken, which was a Family Trainer (Power Pad) game.

  16. Tecmo NBA Basketball. Easy victories with the Lakers, and the final game's score is below. I discovered tonight that if you hold down the pass button, the computer can't steal it from you. So that makes wasting time easier.
  17. I guess it should probably be changed, but I already counted it as beaten this year. Hmm... I guess if we beat everything, then I can always go and beat it myself just for peace of mind (to say we really finished everything).
  18. NARC done. It's important to bust a lot of guys in the first stage to have extra lives for the end.

First, I removed bonus points from the past 4 years, since that wouldn't be a fair comparison. Second, the first champions weren't included since of course, the points system didn't exist then. You did have the highest average of anyone the year that you won, if that's what you meant (counting only people with 10+ games). That leads to another interesting question, who had the highest average in each year? This includes unlicensed/pal/famicom games in years those were included.   24. In years past we required it, but since then I allowed the bad ending for Mighty Bomb Jack, so I'm inclined to say that this time you don't need the best Gimmick ending. I think it's fair to call them the "normal" and "best" endings, rather than a bad one, actually. Although, I don't think you get a "The End" message for the easier one, you still get credits either way, so it seems fine to count it.
