  1. If we go off of the GVN evaluation of a complete loose set, it is showing $9,550 or so. I'd probably say to insure for around $10,000, give or take for your variants as well.... If you were to sell, I would imagine the offers will come in around $7000-8000. And likely closer to $7,000 as a bulk sale for the whole set.
  2. I'd estimate an auction of this to go around $300-500 likely. It's been years since I've seen one go up for sale.
  3. @mideast - right exactly. They essentially changed up their covers usually by color, but at times added stuff like this to the top where it is a later iteration. They got pretty crazy on their variants, especially with coloring, UPCs, spiral vs no spiral, and "By the Editors of Consumer Guides" .... all same content though I am fairly certain.
  4. Here's the premiere of the Sports for Kids issue. Don't think it made it past it though .... And then here is an example of the CES issues. They did around 3 or 4 ... waiting for confirmation from a friend who has the known set. They made guides to CES in fashion to their magazines .... And I will have to verify with another guy about how many Game Player's tapes there are. I had thought there were 16, but he can confirm and hopefully give me a pic for reference as I seem to not have it on hand.
  5. Yeah, I'm with you there. Game Player's certainly tried to cover all the grounds ..... Game Player's: Leading Magazine of Video and Computer Entertainment (generic magazine for Nintendo / PC / Sega / NEC / Amiga / Atari / other systems later too) This is the sequence I believe for Nintendo, effectively changing their title four times: a. Game Player's Guide to Nintendo (premier issue only) b. Game Player's Nintendo Strategy Guide (vol 1 no 2 and vol 1 no 3 same as Strategy guide to Nintendo Games) c. Game Player's Strategy Guide to Nintendo Games d. Game Player's Nintendo Guide Game Player's Nintendo Buyer's Guide -> Game Player's Buyer's Guide to Nintendo Games Game Player's Sega Genesis Strategy Guide -> Game Player's Sega Guide! Game Player's Encyclopedias: Sega Genesis - 5 volumes Nintendo Games - 8 volumes Game Boy - 3 volumes Game Player's VHS Tapes - maybe around 16 tapes? Game Player's Nintendo / Sega (or also seen: Sega / Nintendo) Game Player's - CES Special Issues (3 or so issues) Game Player's MS-DOS Strategy Guide Game Player's PC Strategy Guide Game Player's PC Buyer's Guide Game Player's PC Entertainment Game Player's Sports for Kids Game Player's Strategy Guide to Game Boy Ultra Game Player's (I think this is another part) This is probably a thread in itself honestly.....
  6. There are multiple examples on stuff like this that I did not cover in the list. Many of the consumer report books have a variety of different UPCs / print iterations but I didn't want to get too far down the rabbit hole and just give the basic information of a book cover for people who wanted to search it out and maybe work on a set. You will find that there are a lot of minor variants out there, but we made the list just covering major variants here.... so be careful and don't follow the white rabbit!
  7. Thanks for catching that one. I went ahead and updated it and now added links to my googe drive folder for the NES and Multi Game books for full size scans of what I have available for everyone that is interested. @daillest
  8. For me probably to finish a few publisher specific guide runs (if the last ones ever show up). Work on my CiB Black Box set. Re-evaluate my Nintendo Power collection and see what’s left for a 100% complete set. Still debating going for the newsstand variants as well.
  9. Yeah that guy has a lot of great snippets on his site. Thanks for the additional reference.
  10. I don't have anything additional for the NBA Basketball Title LJN was thinking about .... I did stumble upon some California Raisins stuff in my Capcom 1989 press kit though. Some more mentions of it as well as flashing a logo for a supposed Street Fighter II (presumably for NES) .... ?
  11. I wish I had an earlier iteration like what you've shown, but essentially that picture shows the flyer kit they gave to clients for purchasing games from LJN. Here's them laid out from what I own ... minus the World War III and NBA unfortunately. @mideast @Braveheart69 @ThePhleo
  12. The NA.net site was created by a few ex-members who wanted to try and keep the band back together a little bit. All of the "old guard" as I'd put it seemed to check in a little after it was re-established but it has become a vacant building mostly these days. I don't see much more happening over there until maybe some of the powers that be have more time and dedication to it and maybe it will slowly evolve into a more active community, but mostly all I've seen is "Hey, where did the playground go?" (into a burning heap of garbage) "Oh, shit ... that sucks." I am standing in as a MOD for any doomsday scenarios, but relatively speaking .... it is a room full of crickets at the moment.
  13. Yeah they definitely put it out there for everyone else it seems, but we got canned!
  14. Here is also a price list from the back of Beyond Gaming Issue #02. The ultimate game club was advertising games they were selling and buying at the time and included are more than a few unreleased games. I had scanned this in for Frank and his records, but going through it ... it looks like the following were advertised as being able to be bought or sold through their service. 10th Frame Bashi Bazook Code Blue Escape from Atlantis Great Warriors SAGA Water Ski There are some Sega games in there too, but we ain't got time for that! Here's a link to a scanned PDF copy for anyone that would like it: https://drive.google.com/file/d/1nvCebaUCCeaTRoneaPWz5txdLu5KR1vj/view?usp=sharing
  15. @mideast - here is another reference to the Beauty and the Beast that originates out of the Winter 1993 Hubee Network Newsletter. They sure made this one seem like it would be coming out.
  16. Here's a little something I threw together.... please add / subtract / whatever is needed to finalize the list for all. Publishers covered are Bradygames, Nintendo, Prima, and Versus Books. 17. Glad the mystery pops worked out and you enjoyed the presents! I was your SS this year and had a great time finding some goodies for you. Enjoy them !
  18. Some of the old retail stores would team up with Nintendo or other publishers and release these mini style guides. I have this one as well and have seen similar ones for Final Fantasy 7, Ogre Battle 64, Quest 64, Turok .... but not as in depth.
  19. I never got around to a formal list but If you go to my WTB thread I’ve got a pretty big list of the official Nintendo guides covering most all the systems. You can see a decent list there GC. Probably a few more like Pokemon XD, Super Mario Sunshine, etc. I’ll see if I can’t get a full official list going here next week.
  20. Awesome! Thank you! I’ll have to find the note... I totally missed it
  21. My Secret Santa didn’t reveal themselves but helped me knock a few guides off my list! Thank you whoever you are!
