  1. Things are going well, thanks for checking in! I've finished all the levels in the game, and all of the core mechanics (enemies, moves, etc). Right now I am focused on BOSS FIGHTS, which is quite new to me, and going slow. But I think it will elevate the game quite a bit. After that, I need to do some metagame stuff (credits, menus, collectibles, etc), and they game should be done. Hoping to enter Beta sometime this summer! I uploaded a short montage of gameplay a few months ago that shows snippets of the first 4 worlds or so.
  2. Added, thank you! This list is getting quite large now, so I added a (subjective) " Notable Games" on a few titles to call attention to the larger, more complex games (to showcase things like scrolling, etc).
  3. Awesome, let me know once it's more flushed out and finished!
  4. Added "The Storied Sword" by @gauauu @Raftronaut
  5. Let me take you on a tour of World 1 of Super Sunny World! DEV UPDATE #11 IS HERE!
  6. I'm teaming up with a few other devs to give away over $300 worth of upcoming physical homebrew games! You can enter up to 4 times!
  7. From Below (NES) and From Below Pocket (GB) are currently on sale: https://www.frombelowgame.com/
  8. It took a little longer than expected, but From Below Pocket is now on sale! https://www.frombelowgame.com/ To celebrate, From Below for the NES is available again as a physical cart for the next month! If you missed out the first time, this is your chance!
  9. I hope this is ok to post on here, but I have a new homebrew that is going on sale today, for a limited time! You can secure a copy at: https://shop.matthughson.com/ Happy to answer any questions you might have!
  10. Hi All! I've just launched my latest homebrew, this time for the Game Boy! FROM BELOW POCKET ON SALE NOW FOR A LIMITED TIME!!! From the deepest trenches of the ocean, the Kraken has come! As the Kraken climbs the walls of your fortress, repel it by hurtling blocks down at the monster. As lines are cleared, the Kraken will retreat, but only momentarily. Can you survive the night, and live to fight another day? Compatible with all Game Boy models, and enhanced for the Super Game Boy! Featuring Two-Player simultaneous play! Features Classic gameplay with a Twist Featuring the falling-block gameplay you know in love, all while the Kraken works against you pushing garbage blocks up from the bottom of the ocean. Modernized Controls This is the absolute best-feeling game of this genre on the Game Boy! Battle-Tested by the Pros Extensive player feedback from the pros has resulted in a game that hardcore players love to play. Whether it's the "Kill Screen" after level 30, or Lock-Delay to keep the game playable at extreme speeds, From Below Pocket is a highlight reel waiting to happen! Competitive Multiplayer By far the most requested feature is finally here! Go head-to-head in 2-player simultaneous play between two Game Boy Systems via a Game Link cable! Batteries are Included High scores and game settings are saved with an on-cartridge battery. Technical Details Mapper: MBC1 Size: 128KB ROM + 8KB RAM Code Language: C Development Time: 1 year Platforms From Below Pocket is compatible with every version of Game Boy, and it takes advantage of the strengths of each system in a way that few games do. From Below Pocket contains all versions of the game on a single, universal "DX" cartridge. On original Game Boy and Game Boy Pocket, you get that classic black and white look, and a game that runs at full speed with no slowdown. This is the exact same experience as the other versions of the game. Game Boy Color, as you would expect, adds full color graphics to the game. The faster CPU of the Game Boy Color is intentionally unutilized in order to stay consistent with the other platforms. With Super Game Boy you will also find high quality color graphics, as well as a custom game border! Multiplayer fully supports cross-play between all types of Game Boy systems. For example, a Game Boy Pocket can connect to a Game Boy Color using the exact same version of the game!
  11. For what it's worth, I had the same experience. I'm not sure if I ever did hear back tbh (I went with Broke Studio in the end). I think they are just getting more submissions than they can handle atm.
  12. It's been tough to find time to put together a Super Sunny World update video this summer, so here's 3 months worth of features condensed into 2 minutes! Enjoy!
  13. Still going strong. Things slowed down a bunch with summer being here and I was focused on some side projects like The Homebrew Games Summer Showcase.
  14. If you missed the "Homebrew Games Summer Showcase 2023" , you can catch it on demand here. 140 homebrew games! 17 retro consoles! If you're part of a homebrew/gaming community, especially outside NES and GB, please give it a share to the folks you think might enjoy!
  15. I wonder if https://homebrews.retro-gc.fr/?fwp_homebrews_support_filter=nes would be even better? It's a much more explicit list (compared to itch) and is much more up to date (compared to nesworld).
  16. Any "common" format is fine ("mp4" "mov" etc).
  17. I wonder if this should be updated to point to itch.io @Scrobins? I find that's where I get most ROMs these days, and I think NESworld's list is out of date by a few years now.
  18. Yes. You can make something up like "Project Sumez (Working Title)" if you like.
  19. Submissions are due Sunday June 11th, at 11:59PM PST I think most of the people I know of probably already know about this from my posts elsewhere. But if you know people (especially outside of NES homebrew), please tag away
  20. The showcase has now launched! Check it out! ---- Original Post I'm putting together a community-led, "Homebrew Games Summer Showcase" video, and I need YOUR games! The video will be a short montage of gameplay footage, and will feature games from across all retro consoles, in various stages of development. To give you a rough idea of what the final product is aiming for, I've put together a very short example of how this homebrew video montage might look. And that's where you come in! There's no Showcase without game footage, so please submit your games (at any stage of development) here: https://forms.gle/uPhTi2GbpM3Dhjx38 The intention is for the effort on your part to be minimal. The types of clips I am looking for are very basic, unedited, short gameplay clips. They should not be trailers or anything like that. Here's an example of the type of clip you would need to provide. And if you know of other homebrew communities that might want to participate, please share this info with them! NOTE: Yes, I know it's not summer for everyone right now.
  21. Check out the latest updates to my upcoming NES game, Super Sunny World! This update brings multiple new gameplay features as well as a first look at the box cover for the physical version of the game!
  22. If you haven't already, it might be helpful to reach out to the 8bitlegit team. They can help get the game on multiple modern platforms for you (Steam, XBOX, etc). https://8bitlegit.com/games/
  23. Great game with a super viral video (3.3 million views). It's also worth noting that the KS amount for Micromages is only a portion of the crowdfunding as they also used indiegogo.
