  1. I posted on your thread. Would you like to help me out with entering NES stuff into the database and organizing it?
  2. @0xDEAFC0DE So, in making the database @Gloves wants us to start with NES since that is the logical first step, and then we can branch out to other stuff. We should start with licensed games, unlicensed games, and their contents. Then we can get into cart variations and such, console variations (although there are only 2), peripherals, and whatever else we think should be added. NES can be a "beta test" so to speak, and then we can apply that format to other systems, hopefully branching out into stuff up to current gen. Then we can refine and potentially add Metacritic scores, user scores, user reviews, a "games like this one" thing, and sorting. Once we decide on a format to how we want to lay out NES, everything else should fall in place, it's just a matter of getting volunteers to work on systems. We already have CiB contents lists for NES, SNES, N64, and GB, and those are just the ones I can list off the top of my head. We can use consolevariations.com as a guide to limited edition consoles and hardware revisions, and I believe they do controllers and peripherals as well. There are so many resources out there, and all we have to do is compile those and make it easy to navigate, and this site should be the (almost) one-stop shop for collecting and gaming that NA was.
  3. Nope, I just mean using those as a resource to make original content and verify that it is indeed accurate. I don't understand why that wouldn't be allowed. Imo our priority should be getting entries for games, consoles, peripherals, ect up. Once we get them up, we can expand upon and refine. Then we can introduce some sort of ranking system and review system, and potentially even incorporate Metacritic for stuff post-1995. I guess it comes down to what you think we should start with.
  4. Awesome! Where do we start? And can I use info from NA as a guide? Like that redacted N64 CiB contents post. If I were to make it like a chart and not copy anything he has written it'd be totally legal. Just use his pictures to fill it out into something like that Contents of SNES CiB chart that someone made earlier.
  5. Got it. What about a database completely rebuilt from the ground up? Made 100% on this site?
  6. In case anyone was wondering, I posted about making a database for this stuff under suggestions. I know we technically already have a database, but c'mon, look at it
  7. I'm suggesting a database containing recovered NintendoAge posts and resources, depending on the legality of that, and potentially containing entries for each and every game- ever. Now this may sound like a lot, but read below for more info: We could build a database with complete lists of games, giving each game its own entry, and just trust the community to provide descriptions and reviews of games they've played. Somewhat of a Wikipedia-like thing. We'd have to make it so certain users can be restricted from posting on the database for intentionally inaccurate information or troll reviews. Through this, we could constantly be updating and checking existing entries to provide the ultimate buying guide for retro games. Info on games, games ranked based on user reviews and critic reviews, the ability to sort (by system, by genre for system, ect), and the ability to leave review for games you enjoyed-- or didn't. This will be a huge undertaking, but I have pretty much allthe time in the world right now, since I'm not working and most likely won't be for a few months.
  8. We should have some kind of hidden gems thread or just build a database with complete lists of games, giving each game its own entry, and just trust the community to provide descriptions and reviews of games they've played. Somewhat of a Wikipedia-like thing. We'd have to make it so certain users can be restricted from posting on the database for intentionally inaccurate information or troll reviews. Edit: I posted on suggestions, since a database seems to be something that's been thrown around a lot. I know one already exists, but all it contains is homebrew games and game stores, so it's pretty barren.
  9. Wow. I sound like an idiot. I've already exhausted every hidden gems, best games, and underrated titles list on the internet, but never thought to research and find games that no one know about, but I may like. Any suggestions for puzzle/adventure games? That's the genre I've gotten super into recently. To whoever asked earlier, I've played through every game in my collection that I play on playing through (except for some Pokemon games, like Blue and Gold, since I've already played Silver, Red, Crystal, and Yellow) and the rest are just trade bait if I need it, like Keio Flying Squadron.
  10. Have you tried the Internet Archive's Wayback Machine? I can attempt to reaccess the thread. If I'm successful, you'll see it up on the "collecting guides" subsection. Edit: It worked! Check out my post in Collecting Guides. Includes links to pictures.
  11. @TabongaSure, the CD has some really good games, but for every Snatcher you have a bin of Jeopardys and Night Traps and just really, really cheesy FMV games. But, if you're into that kind of stuff, more power to ya. I think Knuckle's Chaotix was the only 32x game I've ever seen called good.
  12. Yup, I already have. However, I'm kind of done collecting what I like, and I just enjoy collecting and the hunt in general. So now I'm down to 2 options: finding better condition copies of games I already have, or completing sets. Some systems just don't interest me, like the 32x, and Sega CD, since they seem to have 1 gem for every 30 shovelware titles. On a side note, are the two SNES competition carts and that Exertainment combo cart considered part of the complete set?
  13. Ok, thanks for the response. I guess it's up to @Bubbapauls about whether or not he branches out from Nintendo Power Pogs into just general video game Pogs. If he decides to do so, I would for sure help him out.
  14. I've got all of the games I want and have been looking for for NES, SNES, Wii, GB, GBC, and GBA. Should I pursue complete sets? What are the pros and cons of complete sets? It seems to me that there are a ton of crappy shovelware titles on every system, especially on the NES and Wii, but I'd like to hear what y'all think.
  15. @Bubbapauls Two questions. First, are we only doing Nintendo POGS? If not, there are a ton of Sega and Playstation pogs, and I found this with a quick search: https://shop.sega.com/products/sonic-mania-plus-sega-caps-and-slammer-set Second, what exactly is that red pog in-between the Super Punch Out and Mario ets?
  16. Thanks for the reply. I'm sending 10 over to the U.K. Buyer paid above market value and wants them pristine. I'm afraid if they get torn up in the post he will try to send 'em back.
  17. I'm working on ps3 and xbox 360 lists if you want them. They're still a work in progress, and I'm counting collector's editions as variants, but they are included. Once Ixm done with both I'll get them added to the "Big List of Lists".
  18. Yup, just look at NES, SNES, N64, GB, Genesis, SMS, and more before quarantine. Stuff was dropping, not by much, but still pretty much dropping across the board, at least for the popular titles. There's a million reasons why titles jump up or down, but between Switch online, the classic edition systems, and stuff like pretty damn close to perfect SNES emulation, the demand for the "more popular" titles seems to be waning. I feel like thefad of buy, buy, buy! and hoard, hoard, hoard! is dieing off. However, sealed collecting, which is super niche, has been taking off recently. The deep pocketed collectors want their "pristine" copies, and VGA has no doubt played a part in that. I still don't understand the people that buy loose graded carts from WATA for 3 or more times market value. I mean it's a loose cart, not a perfect copy! Somebody's gotta get Pat to do it. Persuade him with some cash. I heard recently that he was doing an n64 book in the style of the Ultimate Nintendo books.
  19. How would I go about shipping and packing Nintendo Power issues so they don't get bent up, wrinkled, or torn? I'm going to be shipping internationally.
  20. For the sake of my sanity, I don't think I'll be counting text variants, but others can do as they see fit. Like, a completely different picture is one thing, but an slight indentation is so picky I would like to add issue numbers for every cards and any artwork variation that we are missing. Love your pfp btw, A-Team is an excellent show. Yes, @Bubbapauls a separate POGs post/thread would be awesome!
  21. Woah! That's quite the asking price. Although I'm not interested in buying, since I already own the game, I'll help you out. You NEED pictures. Any kind of purchase above $500 online without pictures will most likely not sell. Second, if you need to get rid of this ASAP, list it slightly below FMV according to VGPC. As a buyer, why would I pay $1450 when its "market value" is $1370? Hope this helps!
  22. Just started collecting n64. I'm looking for: Super Mario 64 Expansion Pak Majora's Mask Paper Mario 64
