    • 10/10 - One of your very favorite games of all time.
    • 9/10 - Killer fucking game. Everyone should play it.
    • 8/10 - Great game. Easy to recommend.
    • 7/10 - Very good, but not quite great.
    • 6/10 - Pretty good. You might enjoy occasionally playing it.
    • 5/10 - It's okay, but maybe not something you'll go out of your way to play.
    • 4/10 - Meh. There's plenty of better alternatives to this.
    • 3/10 - Not very good.

    • 2/10 - Not your cup of tea at all. Some people might like this, but you are not one of them.
    • 1/10 - Horrible in every way.

    • 0/10 - The Desert Bus of painful experiences. You'd rather shove an icepick in your genitals than play this.

    • Never played it, but you're interested.
    • No interest in playing it.

That AI gets ridiculously hard is a big part of why it's so great. I respect a game that kicks my ass so much.

I also like that the scoring isn't broken which is kind of rare in NES action games. It's a great score attack game.

@mbd39 @Dr. Morbis wooooowhoooo! 10's! i cant remeber if you finished this before? morphius! you beat this one?!

Not only have I beaten it, but if you look back on the history of weekly NES contests on NA, the only time I ever competed before this year was when I popped my head into the Adventure Island thread like a decade ago to shred the competition... 😉

That's the best part.  Sure Ninja Gaiden is a great game, but once you're good at it you can beat it in 15 minutes no-death.  Same with most other all-time great run-n-gunners.  The games have no staying power in the challenge department.

Like I said earlier, Adventure Island's greatest  asset is it's difficulty curve 🙂

I see your point and don’t disagree... but yet I think AI is more cheap/difficult than any of the 3 NG games, and less enjoyable.

But it is 100% reliable isn't it? As far as I can tell the enemies and moving objects always act the same if I get to them in the same way/time.
