What do you guys think of Reddit? Not only for gaming stuff, but in general.

There is a third party service people post pictures with called imgur which is an image sharing platform that allows you to externally link the images uploaded. You can find a lot of conversations regarding topics of interest through google searching that take you to reddit discussions. It's so flooded with people that it's hard to have an individual voice on certain things. It can be a decent way to get news, because so many people are always posting.

I use reddit pretty extensively. One of the most helpful subreddits being /r/buildapc when I was first getting into the idea of building a gaming computer. I also like some of the smaller subreddits for specific niche games like older MMORPGs i.e. /r/cityofheroes

I heard that Reddit is where memes come from.  They grow them there and then distribute them by boat to the rest of the internet.

People on reddit themselves joke about the worthlessness of "fake internet points,"  but those worthless points are admittedly the thing that makes everyone want to be the first to post breaking news stories, give the best answers, and yeah, create original memes. So it actually is good for a lot of things, but you're going to have a hard time if you try to post to a subreddit that you haven't been silently observing for a while, because you'll probably do something "wrong" and get blasted for it.

The main site is garbage.

Stick to specific forums and you’ll be okay. Though on occasion the main site bleeds into even the smallest of “subs” or “subreddits”

I like to think of the website like a collection of forums that all share one login.

The more popular a forum gets, the more echo-like content shows up though so you basically gotta get in early and get out fast or else you’ll stop forming your own opinions just to follow the herd more or less

Thanks, I didn't know. I had heard of the site and have been saying red dit this whole time but nobody corrected me. I just didn't know what it was.

@Code MonkeyYeah, no problemo man! You have been pronouncing it right, it's the past tense read so it's phonetically said as "red" instead of "reed" (one of those weird words that has different meanings but is spelled the same way)
