I think that’s the point, all the sentences are written in different styles illustrating the handwriting samples title

     I can see that   'larger degree" works - especially since with more text it appears that each line was written by someone different although the message was likely created by one person.

Which would also explain why two lines are printed.

      Large degree works well also - grammatically probably better than larger - the first letter is more than a bit dicey though appearance wise.
