OptOut | 8,892
Yeah I'd call Wario World a B tier, at best. Gonna lay this out here right now, this might be a controversial take... Treasure is overrated. They made some good games, but honestly they are nowhere near the upper echelons. 2

I don’t like you saying this. But I agree

Strongly disagree but people either like them or they don’t. I like some of their quirky takes on genres and their shmups are amazing. Not everyone will agree though, can’t please everyone. Nintegageo | 582
I think Treasure was amazing when games didn't need teams of hundreds to be dev'd. They're a small company, and they have done pretty incredible work.

But, I don't see what all the fuss is about with them TBH. Every time someone mentions Treasure some fat loser creams his pants. Apart from the shooters, I would say few of their other games reach the absolute heights of quality. Games like Mischief Makers and Dynamite Heady are fun and quirky, but they're not exactly genre leading examples of the craft. Even with the shooters, if you're not a fan of bullet-hell you're gonna be left unfulfilled. I like Ikaruga, but it's hardly my favourite shooter. And, as we have already established, Wario World is MID AF.

But something about them just feels like all they can do is short but sweets. And while we think these games are great, they didn’t have mass appeal Edited March 25, 2023 by phart010
MegaMan52 | 2,459
@Hammerfestus Reminds me of yet another highlight of the GameCube era... Square's return to Nintendo systems. And while we're all on the subject of Treasure being "overrated" or not... In addition to developing Wario World, Treasure also developed Ikaruga which was also released for GameCube. They deserve at least a little respect.
Tanooki | 4,950
Walked away from a nice $10 copy of that FFCC game earlier today, the horrors of the babysitting the miasma repellent container puts me off it every time. The other I got rid of last year, not worth having vs price, and it's often 50% off on modern machines for like $10 so ...eh?
